AMA Pro Eric Bostrom tests the F3 at Paul Ricard in France. Interestingly he had no complaints on the fueling.

I need to wait for the middleweight shootouts to start to see if MV got the fueling fixed. One thing we can all agree on, it is a gorgeous machine, sounds great in the video too. You buy an Italian motorcycle as much with your heart as with your intellect.

Dark one does look good but it's the white one that really does it for me. I'm going to stop in to the MV/BMW shop over in Plano and check one out up close, maybe next weekend.

The fueling bothers me, it is not a simple mapping issue...guaranteed. Do you think a company with MVs resources and experience would launch a critical machine like this with bad low rpm fueling if the answer was a simple map? Heck, just about anyone could fix that with a Power Commander and two hours of dyno time.

I think they're running into the same problem that Ducati did with the Panigale 1199 and that is excessive bore/stroke ratio. When you start getting combustion chambers that wide, the low speed fueling/thrttle response becomes erratic, they found this out in F1 long time ago. Ducati tried to fix theirs with some type of air injection valve, from what I hear with only limited success.

I'm just afraid that the F3 is going to turn out be jsut another pretty face with a major flaw that kills it's commercial success. Kind of like being married to a drop dead, gorgeous Italian supermodel with a permanently bitchy oulook on life. It would get old fast.

Well....okay then....how about that Aprilla F4?That's a sweet ride.Classic also...you won't see many of those out there.

Love the single sided swing Arm with the 3 pipes to give it the look of Bad Ass. Suzuki Nose ?

Do you mean the Aprilia RSV4? Or MV Augusta F4? Both are nice machines but they don't do it for me like this little F3, that thing looks like a jewel.

Buyers of Italian exotica buy for emotional reasons, you can't justify the expense and potential reliability issues based on logic alone. Your head says buy a Jap bike and be satisfied but your heart says Viva Italia!

I went back and reread the 1199 Panigale tech articles, Ducati fixed the fueling issues on that one caused by a high degree of valve overlap and large bore/stroke ratio by enrichening the mapping at light loads and low rpm where driveability problems were seen. They then injected air with a small pump directly into the exhaust gasses to lean it out for emissions. Bottom line the 1199 drinks fuel like a fish but has good low rpm manners around town.

The same kind of fix will most likely work on the F3, a savvy tuner should be able to richen up the areas where it's having issues and clean up the throttle response using a PowerCommander and a little dyno time.

This all may be moot as I've heard that MV already fixed the fueling problem on the F3 for 2013.

OK, the other bike I'm considering is the base model 1199 Panigale at $17,998 it makes more sense than the up market S and Tri-colore versions. It is a beautiful bike as well but I think the F3 is just plain sexier.

The problem with the 1199 is I already have a Gen 4 ZX-10R which has absolutely kicked the Panigales's butt in every road test I'm aware of. Yes, it's attractive but I might be disappointed with the performance vis-avis the ZX-10R.

Grn, this bike has your name written all over it, won't have the accleration of your 14R or the topend speed but you could carve corners on it like a master butcher carves meat!

I'm going to join the F3 Forum here shortly, the guys over there are saying the fuelling has definitley been fixed and new drive train cush rubbers cure the finicky clutch engagement. All of this will be done on the 2013 models, they late released the bikes for North America in order to make sure there were no glitches. 2013s are almost already all sold out, you pay full sticker or you don't get one.

Arrow already has a single outlet pipe for this bike, it's uglier than 9 miles of bad road on a rainy night though! I'd leave those pipes stock, they fit the bike perfectly and the sound is intoxicating...106dB stock, way louder than what a Jap bike can get away with due to small numbers imported no doubt.

I couldn't get a track bike like that....hell...I wouldn't last five minutes!I need the weight of the 14 under me.Bad enough it's got gobs of power and runs like a dream...shit...Nope...no track bike for me....the White Whale will be fine;)

That F3 now...that's a badazz ride....very nice.

Yes, Grn, please do. i just asked about what problems the guys are having , if any, and would they recommend someone buy the F3. I tried to contact the forum Administrator and was banned from that too. What a joke, I don't need this kind of aggravation, if the bike is anythng like the website, may not be worth owning one.
