I doubt the Jap bikes are done but this should help people see the light. Japan will come out swinging next year for sure. I doubt it will be a zx14 or Busa remember they still need to actually make money not just build a fast bike anyone can do that. You really have to give BMW credit for building a bike like this on its first try.

DESIGNATION: RST , followed by rider number.
A true entry-level, limited budget class, Real Street is designed to give the entry-level racer a place to compete in heads-up, no breakout competition. Almost any racer currently competing in any Street ET class around the country can bring his or her bike, with little or no modifications, and experience true heads-up racing for the first time.
With no limits on internal engine modifications, the much-feared post-race teardowns will be avoided. Instead power levels will be controlled by limiting all entrants to an OEM-style, non-lockup clutch. This approach simplifies the tech procedures following record-claiming runs and post trace inspections. Only a minimal amount of disassembly will be required, because engine inspections will consist of primarily an inspection of the clutch and the fuel system.
Each bike may be required to compete in a 10-mile road course to prove street ability at selected events.
Ballistic blankets are not required for any entrants in this class.
This class is run as a “heads up” no break-out eliminator with a qualified field up to 32 motorcycles on a (.400) Pro tree.

I would be more impressed if it did better at the races. Drag races superbike races etc. Hell it hasn't won any race anywhere that I have heard. It has the engine but there is more to a fast bike than hp. The honda cbr is a fsster bike so is the ducati. The bmw has the most hp. If BMW can get the brakes and suspension sorted then they will be onto something. BMW has never made a racing liter bike so it is not suprising that they are having problems with brakes and suspension that go with that much hp.
IMHO the Jap bikes will catch up in HP in a couple of years. BMW may never be able to to get the racing suspension and brakes right.(see new busa for same problem) God knows the zx-10 has had the engine for years but not the suspension - lots of hp no wins.
The major complaint about the BMW is that it is hard to ride fast - just like the complaints about the zx10.

The Bike has made a recent podium finish in WSBK which really says something considering those bikes are far from stock. The other manufatures have tons more time, money and riders invested in racing. Its not to often you see a zx10 on the podium or even racing for that matter but the stock bike is still good. Hell Buell had a win this time last year at Daytona in AMA. Ok it was running 600s but a win is a win. Do I even need to state how much Buells production bikes sucked.
thats what they all say

yeah I think they said it was a STOCK MOTOR not a STOCK BIKE. No matter how you slice it that motor must be making some serious power for it to go that quick. Love it or hate it thats a fast bike period. Anyone have a stock motor zx14 or Busa going that quick?

Sport bike has a comparison of the top racing bikes in this months issue. It shows the jap bikes at the bottom of the 8 or so bikes. The ktm, aprilia, BMW and ducati were at the top for expert riders. The less expert liked the jap bikes more.

I'll say it again, the BMW is fast. How about we throw a passenger on the back and they can take an all day 500 mile ride and blister the mountains with me and the wife. Then we'll talk.
