It makes the ZX14 feel like a monstorous wandering marshmellow in the twisties.

Compared to most literbikes, the ZX-14 is a monstrous wandering marshmallow in the twisties!

Still a great bike though!

Ok, ....

Is it really worth it to risk your life treating your bike like it's on a track all the time? All it takes is a pebble in the wrong location whilst committed to a deep turn to send you flying. And for what?"

Ok so let me get this right the zx14 is capable of going into the 9s dead stock is limited to 186 mph stock. Remove the flies and it makes more tq by 5k rpm than any liter bike makes at peak. In fact all the low end power the zx14 makes can be dangerous if you make a mistake with the throttle leaned over that bike will “highside” your ass into the next state faster than any bike liter with TC. How safe the bike is really depends on the person riding the thing. I have yet to see a stationary bike of any type hurt anyone its riders who cause problems. Talk about using a bike to its full potential how many of you guys are going 9s on a stock zx14, when is the last time anyone cracked a 186mph. The bad news is that if you are not a very accomplished track day rider/racer you will never even use the zx14 to its full potential on or off the track. So to try to imply true sport bikes are useless/or dangerous as street bikes is simply wrong especially when a bike like the BMW has TC and ABS. Now as far as true sport bikes being macho BS to some extent I would agree if we are talking about young street riders or even old stupid ones. I would say the zx11, zx12, zx14 vs. Busa thing is one of the all time greatest DICK measuring contest of all times. In fact the last two years the CBR1k has been deemed the best liter bike and it was not the fastest/quickest nor did it make the most HP. The last time I checked the throttle on every production bike ever made turned in two directions. If you can't control your urge no to do something stupid on the street or you’re constantly ridding “over your head”simply because you are on a capable bike that’s your problem not the bikes. (not directed at anyone just a general comment)

Exactly who buys such a bike unless they live near a track and are willing to spend their $$$,time, and possibly their lives running laps in the death zone potential of such a bike?

I would guess a lot considering the big four sell more 600s than they do liters or hyper bikes.

Caught myself last year in northern California ripping with some guys - doing corners stupid fast with them. I kept it up until the front end washed out under load. I was all bent over alla Rossi with nowhere but a face plant and a gaping canyon to sail into. The front slid toward the curb about 8 inches or so but thank God caught again, and I managed to save it.
Ya I know there are guys in here who do this stuff regularly, but for me, that was plain stupid.
Motorcycles really do test the metal of who you are.
NO the test is not in seeing how fast you can go on them on public road ways .. but how you can restrain yourself from acting like a 16 year old brain dead idiot and going for it.

What does skill have to do with age. You guys were balls-out types, yes or no? Painter is still hanging it out and how old is that? I don't want to know is WOT are you doing telling me I cannot control that bike being the control freak it takes to run this bike.

It's like saying, how dare the Big4/Beemer type design a bike like dis for the public is one more dissing in the face of technology and you have yet to prove to me how fast man can move on the ground at speed. Speed does not kill we come back every WOT ride and is not the tech there for brakes/tires/power? Yesir!

It is that mental mind is your own crime you have to say some bike or gun is the problementality. Walk away from the ammo but do not tread on me tell me how to ride. WOT the law is telling me is to obey the law and get hit by a door slammer when I am running my own game is here I am. I'll give you the WOT-4 "(not directed at anyone just a general comment)" ass usual.

Did I read someone is holding me is cuff my type? My old lady cannot understand me to this day, I am speaking as clearly as if we were face to face.

See, it says it right here in print. "The faster you are off the streets the longer you live."

I think about that a lot JDC but if you start thinking about it too much then the very thing you fear is more likely to happen. You might as well park the bike and take up golf! Every time we strap one of these missiles to our butts and venture out on the road we're in a risk class that's higher than just about anything else except maybe base jumping or diving naked in a shark tank. It's a risk we all take and accept knowing full well the dangers involved. I think the most important thing is to manage the risk, don't take foolish chances and don't ride past your own personal limits.

That being said, Keith Code has swapped his ZX-6Rs for the new BMW because he believes the TC keeps his riders safer while exploring their limits.

Traction control is the future... like it or not. I predict it will be a standard feature on most high performance sport machines within three years.

Rode my ZX to the local BMW (MAX) place and took out the S1000RR.

First off, the BMW feels like a 600 size bike. I took it nice and easy (it's not my bike... yet) and rode out of town to get used to it. Turned around after about 5 miles, slowly get on the bike in 1st gear and roll on nicely. The shift light comes on and the bike starts to act like it hit the rev limiter... at an indicated 7000 rpm! I hit second and it acts up again. Once I figured that out, I continue to shift at 6500 rpm... wow... it was sweet!

I get back to the dealership and tell them about it hitting the limiter. Come to find out it's set up that way until the 1000 mile service. After that, it gets uncorked then it will really fly!

Excellent reviews no doubt...but from an aesthetics point of view, I am still having a hard time getting passed the asymmetrical one-eyed-pea.

Too bad the front isn‘t like this (Photochop). I bet they would sell a zillion.

the s1000rr is so fast that it's the only bike who's lap times are expressed with a negative number

when you do a valve adjustment on a s1000rr, the valves automatically get adjusted on any other bikes in the vicinity

actually, the valves on the s1000rr never go out of spec, the specs get rewritten based on its valve clearance

normal dino oil automatically becomes synthetic when used in an s1000rr. also its becomes fat free and tastes great over a salad.

the 1000 in the s1000rr name actually denotes the bike's trap speed in miles per hour during 1/4 mile runs, i mean 1/8 mile runs

the s1000rr is the only bike that backs it in with the front wheel

the s1000rr doesnt pose at starbucks, starbucks poses next to it

the s1000rr uses an rsv4 as a pitbike

you will never find a printout of a dyno sheet on an s1000rr because they havent made a sheet of paper big enough for it

the s1000rr is the only bike that can indicate a left turn and a right turn at the same time and then follow through

if you put an s1000rr sticker on your toyota, toyota wont recall it because its already awesome

the s1000rr is so awesome it collected jay leno

the s1000rr can not only do a 12 oclock wheelie, but it can do the noon and midnight versions

Kruz, The way this bike was touted for the last year or so, Xaus lead one practice time. Big Deal! This bike had plenty of races to sit on the podium. Look, to me, this bike is like a 14 that is about to run with the 600cc premier class. It's a shoe in. It should blow them away if not run in the top 3 all the time.

Don't mind me. I get frustrated watching others race on TV. I'm yelling how they take their line a certain way, and I would not use that strategy kind of biting to get on the bike to see why it sits in the back all the time?

Well, I guess I might as well spill the beans. Everything fell in place. I am the owner of a new black 1000. The plastic is going back on the mule [sold] and I just could not pass up the whole deal. That think hauls the mail and immediately I could tell this thing would wax my 14 even with the penultimate preset.

I've got nothing better to do but play with another computer. So, I'll pop in every once and awhile, see the old gang on your antiquated bikes. Not that I'm turning up my nose to the 14. It's been a good bike. Time for a change to the next fastest thing a ding ding.
