Has anyone used the fuel treatment he recommends?

I might try it, killa. Oh, by the way, Hoo-WAH ! Follow Me !
The company that makes FAIC's dealership account goop has been around a long time. So if it was bad, they would have gone out of business.
They have a business model a lot like Amsoil, so maybe they are ok?
But still, StarTron works great. StarTron Marine is even betteer. Sta-Bil Enzyme Marine ain't bad either.
Jeffo said he would get my map to me today some time. Heck tomorrow would be good enough.
Once I get it, I'll hook up the laptop, and load it and see what it looks like. Then I'll ride it some this weekend.
I'm getting the NGK CR9EK plugs Jeff recommends but they won't get put in this weekend, or anytime soon. I'm riding a lot of 3, 4, ...., 7 day trips starting not tomorrow but next weekend, almost every weekend (and some full weeks) all summer. Ending with Bike Week in Ocean City in September.
If the FAIC map is good, or just ok, or bad, whatever it is, thats what I will report. I was initially dubious but the more I thought about 4 years of ZX14s which differ only in paint, and the fact Brock Davidson gave me a Street/Strip map that works darn well, without ever seeing my ZX14 (but dyno-ing ones just like it set up just like it).... it seems only fair I should accept FAIC could give me a better map or at least an equally good map.
I'll know once I get TPS set and see her idle, you can tell a lot from idle and water temp and etc. If it seems all good, I'll go for a ride, and slowly work her to a frenzy.
Just the way to treat a hot woman, come to think of it.

I got a map from Jeffo. Haven't been able to ride yet to test it out but something I have noticed so far is when I start my bike up after the bike has been sitting for quite a few hours and the engine is cold, I get a lot of smoke I guess you would call it coming off the headers with a burnt oil smell to it.
This happened when I first started my bike up with a different map than Jeffo's but still continues to do it with Jeffo's. Anyone else come across this running a custom map on the 14's? Is this something normal? This is my first experience with a PC so I just want to make sure I don't damage my bike.

"different map than Jeffo's"...okay...so it's NOT the map.Rings maybe?Smoke color is....what?ANY smoke is not okay.Burnt oil smell....look at your left side valve cover in there.See anything goin on?At the cover seal?Drips on the header bolts maybe?

I high sided my bike 2 weeks ago. Nothing is leaking anywhere though. And I have started the bike up and let it warm up a few times prior to the PCV install with no smoking issues. The smoke is white in color I would say. Once the bike warms up it goes away. But any time I start the bike up after the bike has been sitting for a while it will do it but go away after the bike is warm.

Dumb question here...okay...bear with me....how about condensation? You're in Oregon.Cool temps WILL produce condensation in your exhaust system. The smell of oil may just be "secondary"..from highsiding...probably burn off in a while...Maybe.I've got NO experience with the PCV...but there's several guys here that DO have em on their bikes.Maybe your "autotune" is just dialing in right now?If it's white...that would be oil.Is she burning any oil?Might want to keep an eye on that for a bit.Up here...my mufflers will consistently drip water at the drain hole while idling. At startup. When everything's cold.It goes away in several minutes. If you're running a stock exhaust...you can watch the water drip from the hole on yours.Until she warms up.It can appear as WHITE smoke at first glance.

Hrm. I guess I just need to get out and ride it. Let the new map work itself through the bike. The bike hasn't been on the road in 2 weeks since the crash. I will definitely watch the oil though since the smell coming from the bike has that burnt oil smell.
I'll get some miles on the Jeffo map and see if anything changes than talk with him if the problem doesn't go away. Just thought I would ask here first since the problem didn't start until I put in the PCV and I couldn't find anything related to a smoking issue from the headers related to a power commander anywhere on the net.
Thanks for your input, blue.

I don't think a white smoke would be related to ANY fuel mix conditions.I could be wrong.Your welcome...ride safe Bro!When these engines get turned over...like in a crash like you described...oil can work it's way into some strange places it's not really supposed to go.It'll probably burn away after some riding.Apparently, you are OKAY after your crash....I'm happy for ya.

I found where the smoke is coming from. It's oil dripping onto one of my headers that I couldn't see until having another look. What I don't know if it's oil that got pushed around in the crash or if it's a continuous leak caused by something being cracked.
So disregard anything I said about the PCV.

You wrecked the bike, a highside even, and when it became puff the magic dragon with oil smoke (fuel smoke from being out of tune badly is black) your first thought wasn't "maybe I damaged the oil filter or pan or - God forbid - block/head..." ?
Your first thought was it was the PowerCommander?

worn valve seals will cause the bike to smoke on startup

Back on subject, FAIC maps...
Jeffo sent me a map last night, and with it, excellent instructions. Way better than the DynoJet sheet, or the page Brock sent me.
I have the suggested spark plugs, and after next weekend's ride to NY with the club, I'll take it over to Tri-State and get them to do a dyno run as she sits, replace the plugs and install the FAIC map, then pull a run like that.
Whatever I get, I'll post the jpegs. Win, lose, or draw.
Reminds me, its time to change the air cleaner filter too.
Not doing it before my 2,000 mile trip, not a good idea to make significant changes without time to really test them out. But thats just me, I'm conservative.
Some might say, OCD, and I won't argue, but anyway, after the trip I'll do it.
If I don't crack 195 rwhp I'll be surprised.

If you look at what #'s are located in power commanders 100 percent cells, should give you a good Idea if your same as Brock for peek Hp. little Map compare would be neat. Just a thought. Study the middle.

Maybe not, we'll see. It will still be same bike afterward, and thats a good thing.
Anyway, I have to start packing tomorrow, for the 2,000 mile trip with the club over the long weekend, so dyno-ing will be the last thing on my mind.
Bad, you never seem to post anything except to take a shot at something. No original thoughts?

OK, I got my exhaust back yesterday so I could finally see what my modifications have done.
While the bike was sitting, I removed the flies, went up two teeth in the back, put in the Jeffo map, changed spark plugs, activated the pump utility and set the throttle position settings.
It is not the same bike at all. The bike feels like a beast and I would think it is around 190 horses.
I just rode a little yesterday and it almost snatched me off of it as I shifted into second. I was caught off guard by the changes made. My brother, who weighs about 250, jumped on and took her up the street and as he shifted into second, the back squatted and the front wheel came up. The back wheel caught my plate and bent it to shit. I need the tighten up my suspension settings now.
I think Jeffo does amazing work and really dialed her in.

Privates Dyno Runs will tell all. If there is even a modest gain above what Brock gave him,,,,,,,, well, let see. Like posted, the 14 has only so much to offer.
