Rook, those chicken strips are really hurtin' this thread.

Not as much as wrecked bike would hurt my pocketbook.
I've seen a lot wider ones than that. Give me another year and another set of tires. We'll see if I can burn it to the edge.

At the track? You need more lean than that to just warm your tires up!

What's that going to prove? That you can beat someone on less bike with less experience. Now that's Sally. Go wipe yourself, boy.

Hair I have- it's my work appearance. There are also no mirrors on my track bikes or any track bikes for that matter.

Thought this being a motorcycle forum we could ride bikes but I guess for it to be fair it has to be something only you are good at. BTW riding fast bikes in your 20s is not the worst thing that could happen.
Anyway, I guess you would always be the moral winner- I'm just younger and dumber.

Let's get back to the fender eliminator posts, those are even more amusing.

Honestly, I'm quite tired of people giving other people $hit about "chicken strips". Do you REALLY want to dare people to lean their bikes all the way over on the street?! That's not only stupid, it's dangerous and proves NOTHING. Save that $hit for the track. All it takes is one very tiny smooth pebble while leaned over and it's Game Over. The next time someone gives you $hit about your tire wear, tell 'em f#!$ off and ride your own ride. Not only will you live longer, but you won't feel like crap while watching your baby fscked up in a ditch somewhere. Sorry, I just get really annoyed with those comments. End Rant. Now watch these videos to [hopefully] get the gist of my rant:

No strips for me.The weird thing is.....I'm NOT going that fast when I burn em off.Nor do I feel like I'm leaning enough. This is the weird part-I get off the seat, leaned in and over the inside(I can't quite get my leg to bend enough to drag a knee[yet])I'm holding on the outside side of my bike with my knee.I'm "consciously" TRYING to keep the bike more upright in the turn, and it feels like it is.I'm using my body to get deeper while pushing outward on the bars(not countersteering). But when I look at my tire-more rubber has come off while doing that.Just weird I tell ya!To me-"I've got chicken strips" or "I aint got no strips"...It doesn't matter....means nothing actually to me.Strips or no strips-ride and have fun and be careful. You can lose chicken strips at 15 miles an hour if you want to(well, maybe a TAD faster)...ya....but I think it's a measure of "good" or "poor" rider. It is afterall-the street. The street aint no racetrack(I have to keep reminding myself!).And like Loadedmind said.....one little spot of gravel, one emergency swerve at speed while leaned over-ya-things get UGLY FAST,ask me how I know!(to coin a phrase from Mass).

I've found that my footpeg actually drags the ground before the outside edge of my tire is able to wear. There's definitely a huge difference between lean capacity when riding a 14 compared to liter bikes and 600's. I've just seen way too many people lose it [while leaning it all the way over] to where it just isn't worth the risk. Sure, if you could ensure the road is closed and it's free of rocks/debris, your risks are reduced, but you still have to watch out for wildlife and you're better off on a track.

I've burned the strips off mine-always-not necessarily trying too-just kinda happens. But I've NEVER scraped a peg on my 14.I aint really gonna go out of my way tryin to do that.I did it on my old Harley(which is long gone) in the middle of a nice deep curve-scared the sh#$ outta me-Luckily the footboard folds up on those(which I didn't know at the time!)No one had told me"these babys won't lean too far".Ya-talk about a wakeup call-sheeeez!

Using a lower tire pressure might allow a larger, flatter contact patch. A guy might not be leaning any farther, just squashing more tire against the road. I've always kept my tires inflated to spec. I know i could corner faster though and that would mean I'd also have to be leaning harder.

I always admire a tire with no chicken strips. I don't see them very often - hardly ever, really. I always look but if you got them, So TF what- you ride to avoid crashing so you can enjoy riding the next day. I rode with a guy who was a little slower on corners and straights and I didn't mind holding back just a little bit to keep together. He was amazing at super low speed turning. He didn't have much in the line of CS from doing that.

You know, if chicken strips bother anyone, it's as easy as a chunk of sandpaper to fix.

Forget the sandpaper ROOK...you'll never forgive yerself for NOT having the real thing!!!!!!! I wouldn't!Besides-it aint no big deal.I could care less whether I've got em or not!.Long as my tire holds when I need it to-that's all that matters with that-whether it's 20 mph or 120.Basically-it scrubs the "fresh" rubber off there, enhancing the grip. That's the main reason I get em off there.Don't want any surprises ya know?

Wow! Amusing post. Kept me busy for a minute? Chicken strips? 99 percent of street bikes have chicken strips if you do not do track days. Of course, you can always be a REAL poser and buy used race tyres, but wtf? We ride great roads at high speeds in SA and I aint never scraped my footpegs and I also has a leetle cheeken strip on my tyres but so fu%$#&n what!!! As long as you have fun, that's all that matters. Keep them wheels turning.

My 600 also still has chicken strips, im a real careful rider in corners etc, i used to just slam into the corners and pull the bike down - But dunno, doesnt give me a safe feeling. had lots of times u FEEL the rear tire just slipping away for some bits, fuck that lol :P

I ride hard on the highways, but i also feel comfortable with that, i feel like i do that in a safe way, even tho im doing twice as fast as the rest. But with the fast cornering ..... dunno - Guess im not a track racer guy, maybe a more kind of Drag race of guy.... Always wanted to try out a dragrace.
