Looks sharp but a bit too bling for me Rook. A set of gold Marchesini wheels might look nice on there but I'm thinking I like the stealth look. I think the blacked out pipe should complete the look I'm after with an Akro Carbon to follow later.

I'm seething mad! I just rode over to the dealer to pick up my license plate and he has the Blue and Green '08s marked down $1400 below what I paid in December. That's my Akro pipe and maybe the PCIII. He said KHI just announced the rebate in January and if he had known it was coming he would have had me wait. Yea right! Rook you better go check into this and see if your dealer is applying the rebate from Mother Kaw. I knew I should have waited but no sense second guessing the purchase now.

You can't predict the future, Kruz. Sometimes you wait and you loose. One dealer I went to offered me a gray or blue busa for 10,000. A few weeks later, I heard he was going out of business and I started to think I might have been able to strike the deal of the century with him. Too late. I already order my Black and orange from out of state for 11,500 because that was the color I always liked best. I had already ridden it for a few hundred miles and it was my bike. Nobody else can have it but me. It was one of the very last new B/Os in the country. If I would have waited, who knows if dealer 1 would have come down enough to justify sacrificing color choice? By the time I found out, the B/O might have been sold by dealer 2. Then I would have had to go with an 09 for over 12K$ (and ruin my track history for owning 08 bikes -lol).

Don't worry about it. I agree with you that all the 08s are great colors. I think you could paint that thing baby blue and it would still look badass. You got the best color and you were able to buy from dealer stock. You wouldn't want to buy an uncrated bike site unseen. My busa was all swirled up and even had some chips that I didn't see until a couple weeks after buying. The way I see it, maybe you lost 400 bucks. The black would be worth a thousand more, easy. The next guy is kicking himself in the butt because he didn't grab that bike before you.

Thanks Rook,I feel all better now. Yea, at the time that was the deal and I was happy to pay it to get the one I wanted. One of my buddies said if I had waited, for sure the black one would have sold and he's probably right. I don't think there was another black one left in the state of Texas.

BTW, I think I'm going to go with an ultra flat black on the pipe instad of satin. I shot the inspection sticker plate with this stuff and it all but disappeared.... this stuff sucks light in like a black hole! LOL, it should make the stock pipe look absolutely sinister!

Ahh, by not going by what a magazine says? Magazine says which one is better by who pays them more.. Mags are advertisement for the companies with some commantary in between. Use it for entertainment and read between the lines for education on the models but I would be hard pressed to buy a bike because a mag said it was faster or better. A 1000 is faster than a 600 but I bet you would be faster on a track on a 600! Buy what you like and who cares what any one else thinks, especially the mags!

The busa has 1000 miles and the 14 has 14,000. Both run great but the busa isn't even broke in. I wasn't exactly giving the 14 away by asking 7K. I'd hate to part with either bike but if I got a good price, I'd put the money on a ZX-10. Be nice to have all 3 but I'm not ready to get in that deep yet. As it turns out, I might just have the summer to get some use out of the mods and then we'll see where I am with selling.

Just teasing you Big D Selling the 14 for a 10 is actually a pretty smart move, especially since you've been wanting a 10 for awhile,

For a good price, maybe. I see 14s with a lot lower miles going for less than i was asking. Putting a higher price on a bike you want to keep is sort of like bluffing in poker. If someone calls it, you lay down your cards and hand over your chips. Either that or you grab up all your chips and run! Sorry about the Kenny Rogers reference.

Rook, I do not want to sell any of my bikes .....ever. I hope to literally ride them till they won't go anymore. You take such a beating on them, why sell? Keep that 14 and Busa, add the 10 when the timing is right. I got a feeling you're gonna be the next Jay Leno with a gazillion bikes in your garage. Bully for you!

It would be great to own 3 or 4 bikes. Maybe 5. 6 if I do off road......... I don't see that happening any time real soon.

Both bikes were purchased before the price jump we saw last year so selling one for 7000 dollars would cost me ~ $5000 including mods. If a 2010 bike is going to cost 13,000 and be close in performance to a 2008, I would be paying $5000 more than if I just got the 08 now. It's sort of loose 5000 here, gain 5000 there. I guess the zx-10 would require a couple mods but oh well. Yeah, I'd be throwing away a couple thousand bucks.

I'm not scheming this up too much because I'm not all that motivated to sell either at this point. I guess I was just seeing if I could skate close enough to the edge without falling in. Falling in would have meant a new ZX-10. Not so bad.

Now that the fender has been successfully eliminated, next order of business is a pipe and PCIII. I've decided to go with either the Akro Race in stainless steel or Akro Evo Titanium. Power output it identical but the Evo saves an additional 3 lbs and confers extra bragging rights at Bike Night or Starbucks. If you can get a knee down (without crashing) in the Starbucks parking lot you will achieve instant hero status around here but that's another story. Next is PCIII and Ivan's TRE and mapping. It's a proven formula and works, why mess with success?

Sorry Romans, it's been really wet and cold here the last few weeks and when we get the occasional warm day I'm going riding. Hopefully I'll get that pipe shot soon, it's really going to make the bike and will keep me satisfied til I can get the Akro on there.

I found the Race Akro at $1250 and the Evo at $1750. I'm hearing same performance but 3.5 pounds lighter on the Titanium Evo.

Says you will save about 14# compared to stock. So if the stock exhaust weighs about 30 lbs, the Akro Race weighs about 16? I don't think cutting the weight by another 3lbs would quite justify an extra $500. However, if the Evo makes a couple more hp, that combined with lower weight would make it worth while. The CF looking muffler looks best- I suppose that is the Evo, hey?
