I have the exact same bike with an IRC, PCV, Auto tune and a slipon. It was quick to start with but now its just insane.

What's IRC? What's it do?

It eliminates the stock ignition retard at 100% throttle from around 10000 rpm up to redline. The stock bike will basically fall on its ass from 10000 rpm up to redline. It will make the bike run a little lean in those same RPM ranges but not enough to damage the bike. DynoJet recommends a Power Commander so fuel can be added in those areas but it’s not an absolute "must". I ran one for a few months without a PC with no problems but the PCV was another improvement that could but felt even with the basic Dynojet MAP.

Photoshop chop job of what the latest generation 10 looks like with an akro carbon, tail tidy up and a few graphics.

I was going to say it looks like it could be reduced about 10%. I think the shot of the muffler was taken with the camera situated a few degrees off of straight on, perpendicular to show the exit of the pipe. The bike photo is a total profile so it doesn't quite match the angle of the pipe but it is very close. In reality, the pipe will look a little skinnier and smaller I think. Also the lighting in the bike photo is very diffused like they used strobes to fill the shadows. The finish on the pipe is going to look closer to the finish of the frame I think.

That is a good enough mock up for my eye though. Looks good. Will be even better on a black 10.

Your right guys, the pipe is slightly too big and at a funny angle but it does give you an idea of what can be done with the bike. Rook, black is the only color to have on this machine and the can has to be carbon fiber. In black this bike looks like something the Borg might ride........ or maybe Sigourney Weaver while she's hunting down aliens!

Yoshimura makes the best looking pipe for this bike hands down in the carbon fiber R-77. It only adds 5 hp though...5 hp, almost not worth the effort. I swore I'd never buy another Yoshi in my life but they look and sound sooooooo good!

This bikes looks are definitely beginning to grow on me. Wasn't it Nietzsche that said all great things must first wear terrifying and monstrous masks?

Nice pipe 5 hp sounds great now think how fast the bike will be if you learn how to ride it.

That does look really good. It would be better with the midpipe sprayed black. Personally, I'd go for performance and just paint it if it isn't already black. CF would go great with that bike but what happened to the Akrapovic you were thinking about?

I will go the Akro CF route this time Rook, no comparison in peak HP or more importantly torque spread compared with the Yoshi. I'm just a sucker for the look and sound of a Yoshi but this last one left me feeling cold.

You will be glad you did. Underneath that ABM sticker lies a big ugly cat. I think your Akrapovic pic is of a slip-on. The picture does not do it justice. IMO.

Romans, that is a fat cat....and an ugly one! Good thing I can't see it or I'd have to pull it off already. Pipe and Pcomm will have to wait til late spring for the 10, maybe summer. I'm spent out right now and it's income tax time. You know how that old song goes , "I Owe, I Owe, so off to work I go"!

After 3 years with the zx10r 2004 and 2.5 years with the 14 I am considering going back to the 10r, 2009 this time.
What do I have to expect in regard to the differences in handling etc. compared to the 2004?
I am going to take the 2009 for a long test ride during the weekend.
BTW, another factor to consider: I am nearly 65! still fit and focused, but... Am I crazy or what?

wonder if arizx got his answer? 9 pages. Not bad for his 6th post.

I think we're gonna get 10 pages out of this sucker before it peters out and the sad part is arizx isn't even interested in a 10 anymore.

I have been reading all the posts very keenly :)

I have already replied:

Although I felt at home on the 10r, something was missing - perhaps it was more of the same and I need something new.
I am going to try the R1 2009. I only sat on it and it felt right.
I must say that I find it more and more difficult to give up the 14 :)

And:

The suspension is very stiff. In a tight curve with less than perfect asphalt the bike started to skid in sort of "stuttering', something that I remembered from my 10r 2004. If I were to buy this bike, I would work on the suspension first of all.
With your weight you will have to make less changes to the suspension.
There were no noticeable head shakes even when pushing it hard.
All in all it is a great bike and I found it to be very accurate and controllable

Good assessment arizx, ergos and suspension feel spot on for me so far and not a hint of headshake yet. Dan Kyle racing upgrades the Ohlins damper internals for $125 to race specs if you feel the need.

http://www.lako.com/motorcycle/Ohlins_steering_damper_services.htm

I hit a scary turn with a big dip in the middle at about 110 mph last Saturday and she soaked it up with out even a hint of shake. So far so good!

Too late Romans, I already did. If I can do the same with my 10, I should be able to get down to 440 lbs wet just like my CBR. You got the Race not the EVO right? I think the Evo will save another 3 lbs or so. What did it do for your performance?

What did it do for your performance?

Hard for me to explain. I really only rode the bike after the install. Prior 2 she had no bottom end. Power was not coming on till 8000 and seemed to be a bit of a yawner. The 6R needed this pipe in the worst kinda way. It's awake now and believe me you can tell. The front wheel lifts with power roll ons in second and would not before. The tack jumps much faster and rolls nice and even to 16,500. I can't imagine what the change in the 10 would be like(wow). The problem now is, I keep riding it. Now I'm hooked on the light weight flick ability of this little beauty. Now I want a light weight 1000..too...... That's why this thread is so hard 4 me to read(and it's eating away at Rooklol). I'm still thinking that a zx 10 with mods is the way to go$$$$$. The rags mess with your mind(BMW). Trade you for a day?

Ray of hope ehhh. Snow here. waiting. Sure would be nice 2 have 6R,10R & zx-14 to choose from. Decisions decisions. Track days would be a hoot.
