young kids on 600's will walk your 14"....LOL!!They friggin BETTER be able to at the track!Let me catch one out here on the open canyons!Already've meeted out justice to a few!!!I

Blue07 it seems that you are beating slower guys on 600s in the canyons. You should take a ride on a late model 600 through those same roads I bet you would have a change of heart about the capabilties of the zx14 and a 600. Its all about skill big balls might help you on the street aganist slow riders but having big balls eventually just ends in tears. Check this guy out on a Honda Wing obviously he is not the average guy or even just a fast trackday guy look at him hang off the beast its just insane.Good luck catching this guy on a zx14 assuming you don't have the same skill level. Now could you imagine how fast this guy would be on a 2009 R6 or even a 1990 CBR600 both would handle better than a Wing LOL. Skill +1 big balls-0
This guy would own you on any bike period

That's freaky. That guy would obviously do alright on a track with his goldwing. I'm sure he would hold his own until the straightaway. You hear the bike with the cam scraping around every corner. You gotta wonder how many hours a guy has to ride to get that good.

Way cool!Willi!Ya-he's got both-cajones AND skill.Props to 'im!Nah Willi-there aren't any guys getting out here away from town. The one I ran was fast alright-but he did the same deal that guy in the Busa Vid was doing. All over the road and askin to get hit by an oncoming car. When he passed the car ahead of me(to escape!),it was over a double yellow and a curve to boot.No thanks!

That is the end of a longer video posted some time back. When those desperadoes start passing like that I let them go who needs it. Its already dangerous enough on a regular road.

Geez-I saw that head-on one-brutally real. That other deal-with the trashed Harley there on the side of the road-ya-says it all about feeling "invincible" on my bike.Nice reality check both of ya!THNX....So I seeing here in this pic-the guy crashed up by the Semi up there at the police cars? And it all ended up at the "bike" here?.

^^If they lowered the speed limit to 30 in 1992, it doesn't look like that reduced the number of fatalities at all. It looks like they may have increased slightly. 400 vehicles/day, most of them between the hours of 9 am to 7 pm, I'm sure. That would be maybe 1 vehicle every two minutes. It doesn't sound crowded. Most of those accidents have to be people going off the road and hitting a tree...or going off a cliff - eeeehch!

The guy on the Goldwing is Yellow Wolf- he's one of the local stars that rides the Dragon daily and he's absolutely flying on a sports bike, he's got other videos around.

Some guys seem to misunderstand why the smaller sport bikes are faster through turns.
A zx14 on stock suspension and oem wheels can't even come close to the speed through a turn that a modern 600 can carry. Transitioning from turns is also where the heavier bike is at a big disadvantage.
Even more important is how soon you can get on the throttle upon exiting a turn- smaller bikes with the advantage again.
This is why both on the slower tracks and tighter twisties the 14 stands no chance.
You watch that Goldwing video again and it's damn fast for that bike but any descent rider on a 600 will have no trouble keeping up.

For everyone that posts about how they flew by a 600,
post a link to a video.

If you can do a 10 hour day on the 14 to get there, I'll go in early summer. If not, I may just go alone. I almost went with Willidx4 last summer but I think I would have been too slow for that guy.

In tight quaters, no way but from a dead stop they are easy on a straight road. One actually had at least a 30 mph rolling start and screamed by from behind as the light changed. He was about 50 feet ahead of me before I took off and I still caught him and passed in less than half a city block. I assume it was a 600. A 250 is too small to mistake for anything but a 250 and I can't imagine anyone would be dumb enough to try to drag race anything on one of those.

I'd still like to have a 600. That is all you need for the street. If you get one of those babies going through town, I guess it would be more an issue of sanity rather than skill.

If you're asking about the pic I posted its an old gold wing and an on coming driver pulled out to pass in a rather untimely fashion. Not the semi though.

^^Still seems strange that the rider didn't end up closer to the bike. I suppose there all sorts of nasty things that can happen in a head on though.

I never worry about riding fast under acceptable conditions because I feel in control but I always worry about what someone else might do.

Rook, you are mistaking passing someone within a
city block for racing. Not sure why.
I've been passed by other bikes and cars while on my 14 riding on the street,
doesn't meen we were racing.
Now if you were at Deals gap and your buddy on his 600 who's equally skillful can't keep up with you- different story.

I ride Deals Gap at least three times a year and I can tell you the zx14 is scary as hell on the Dragon obviously I can ride the CBR much faster with less effort.

Do it man this is the best place in the World to ride a bike the Dragon is just a novelty the surrounding roads are even more fun to ride. The views are just incredible and you can stay at the Deals Gap motel for 35 bucks a night with a buddy. This is the only place I think I will be street ridding next year everything else will be trackdays only

Rooks sounds like you got a little speed demon you need to get out of your blood. Road America,Black Hawk Farms and Great Lakes Dragaway are less than 70 miles from you. Road America might be fun on the zx14 its a very fast track. check out NESBA.com

Rook I will be going again this summer I will let you know your welcome to come with us. Don't ride there though I did a few years back and I can tell you it sucked. We road in the rain from Kentucky to the house we rented in Robinsville. Fours hours in the blowing rain at 80-90mph in soaked leathers never again.

With all due respect, Mass, you were not there. It was a race. I just finished off a GT and we were sitting at the next red light talking. The light turned green and YOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWw, the other bike screamed by, WOT, riders head turned looking straight across 2 lanes right at me. I call that an invitation to a race and not too unsportsmanlike considering the size of his bike. The car and I both nailed it and we both passed him. It was a straight road. If it were curvy, I may have well come out at the back. As it was, I took a very fast car a second time and caught and passed a guy on another sportbike so I was on top of the world..

If you knew highway 100 on hot Saturday night in the summer....there is nothing happening there except street racing and cops writing tickets. That's why I stayed TF away from there pretty much last summer. I couldn't resist any more after I got the pipe on.

Cool. I'd love to go if you guys can deal with me tagging along on my 14 or busa. I'd ride it if the weather looked good on the way there. Back, I don't care about rain if it's warm.

I've been dreaming about doing Road America since i got the 14. I was a little sheepish about getting on a track with my stock bike and having pretty average skills. I'm better now and the 14 is more raced up too. The fee for joining a racing club would be a lot cheaper than a ticket, hey?

Rook, you drag raced someone from a red light- it has nothing to do with braking points, line and speed through a turn- nothing to do with roadracing where the superlights and supersports shine.

My 750 with tons of bolt-ons and a full exhaust pulled around 56-57 rw torque,
most likely the 14 will walk it with ease in a straight line with upward of 110 torque.
My 750 will also pull so further ahead through the really slow and technical turns at Loudon NH
that the 14 will never even get a chance to catch up at the end of the straight, it will most likely be 75-100 yards behind when crossing the start/finish line and it might make half of it before braking for turn 1.

The guys on the race/ track day forums are making fun of the rookie kids on their liter bikes that take them to the track and get absolutely destroyed by the 600s.
It takes serious skills to ride a 1000 fast on a track and it takes even more to push the 14 at that pace.
I personally haven't seen a Busa or 14 that wasn't crawling at my local tracks.

^^I don't recall describing anything other than a drag race in the above posts. I completely acknowledge that a 600 will flatten me on my 14 when tight maneuvers are required at high speed or low speed for that matter. That's why i want a smaller bike.

I personally haven't seen a Busa or 14 that wasn't crawling at my local tracks.
I've seen the vids. It looks pretty damn pathetic trackside. Watch most of the bikes take a tight corner much slower than the pros and the the busa looks almost ridiculous. I know, I know. It would be fun though. No reason to not experience it.
