FAIC map bad review
09/21/09 2:18 PM

So the day before we leave for a motorcycle rally in Ruidoso NM I get my map from Jeff, talk to him on phone make sure all is set up right, go for a test ride and its rich and blowing 3ft flames at around 2500-3k Call him and he makes an adjustment but it still does it, he says it will be ok just burning excess gas also tells me this is the first 14 with pcV he has done. (Wish he would have done some home testing before taking my money) I test ride for about a mile, seems really smooth. We leave for our trip the next morning, wife on the back and my parents on their hogs. We get to a little town 60 miles down the road and I notice the popping is worse and when I roll on there is a loss of power. I have to leave my parents, tell them to go on and I will meet up with them in Roswell while I ride back to Lubbock to change my map back to the one from dyno jet. Map change helps but you can tell something is not right, loss of power and really bad gas smell, call my friend that owns a bike shop and take it out there, sure enough the plugs are fouled, so I go ahead and replace them all, fire it up and it runs like a champ. So on top of the $50 I wasted on a map I will not use, I spent $60 on plugs including the install, a tank of gas and half a day of my vacation. I am sure Jeff would be willing to play with my map to try and get it right but I cannot afford, nor do I want to go through this shit again. So just a fair warning, some of you may have a good experience with the map, but I did NOT and luckily I had a great weekend and calmed down, or this would have been filled with profanity.

P.S. emailed jeff this a.m. and still no reply.

I did just get a voice mail from Jeff, will have to call him back after work, he wants to fix it but I am staying with what I can trust, 10yrs of riding never had a problem with a dj map. Jeff said it could be elevation in the moutains, I did not make it anywhere near the moutains.

and for the record Lubbock tx elevation 3256ft, it fouled 60mi down road in Brownfield tx 3310ft

destination was Ruidoso NM elevation 6920ft good thing I did not make it with that map.

I doubt they are the same map. I have stock pipes and K&N air filter and flies out on a 2007. I told him my normal altitude was 4500 ft. -bg

One cock green fits all. One rubba fits my dick? Reminds me when (FourX) 4XXXX lambskin was still available and I was getting gash with her full elope pee inn tubes attached, still dropping eggs. Pack of 12 and I had to throw away about 2 each time is the shorts were pushed in that blue tube is install and hear her cry foul me all UP!

Now all I find are cut-shorts with the hardware removed. Not fun you stick out and cry FOUL is all she wrote! Rotty and his ring of, "truth be told."

Don't worry, Jeffo. WE all learn the hard way.

I wrote Jeff last week and this is what he said:
Hey Dynamic, We should talk, because I hate typing,I know what is happening,I would love to see what the map in your bike looks like because it would tell me if I'm right about what I think.I can Promise you that I don't want your Map for any other reason, I think this is the case of a HAPPY DYNO, if you know what I mean.If you send me a copy of your map I will delete it when we are done talking about it, you have my word on that. Thanks Jeffo

Hi.
I am from South Africa and have followed the forum with interest as I have an 07 ZX1400 with a full Arata system, Power Commander, no flies and a BMC street filter. According to the dyno charts enclosed this is the power my bike puts out. Can this be possible with no mods?
Will one of your maps be better as I can smell fuel when my bike is idling and it doesn’t run so good? A stock 06 can pull away from me, albeit with a 20kg lighter rider.
What do you think/
Regards,
Harley Panton.

Hub, what do you think?

I actually do not know what to believe anymore, as the one Dyno guy says 'a' and the other guy swears by 'b'. WTF? The way my old stock 06 still runs, I have wasted my money on Power Commanders etc. The only 'mod' it has is a BMC street filter, and that's it. Pees me off. Maybe a namesake bike is the way to go? Kidding. An 08 with the same 'mods' as my 07 can pull me by about 3-4 bike lengths and stay there and the 06 comes past and sits on its tail. Should never have sold that bike! Darn son-in-law!!

go for a test ride and its rich and blowing 3ft flames at around 2500-3k

Monster, I know some stunt riders who'd pay big money for a flame thrower like that. J/K Sorry to hear it didn't work out for ya.

Harley, we can't even get two "experts" to agree on what oil is best for your bike, how in the heck do you think we can get them to agree on something as complex as tuning an engine?

Seriously though, I hear what you're saying and wish I had an answer. I was sure the DynoJet auto link software was going to take all the "black magic" out of tuning but it seems like it poses more questions than it answers.

I imagine the guys that tune for the racing teams are going to have the most knowledge, their machines have to have top performance but also must be reliable.

Negatory Romans, I'm still running the Ivan map on my 14 same as you. Until someone can show me a better running map for a 14 I plan to stick with it. I just used the F.A.I.C method to set throttle points and the accelerator pump utility. If you haven't done so already, I highly recommend it.

I can Promise you that I don't want your Map for any other reason, I think this is the case of a HAPPY DYNO, if you know what I mean.If you send me a copy of your map I will delete it when we are done talking about it, you have my word on that.

Maybe the MO is to send me you maps. I see how it runs. Send that map out and now here is how you set the 0/wot/2% my dial-inn.

That means, YOu'all would have to keep sending me your maps, I take a peak at the grid sheet is she it, that plot is too thick right there is remove that and now, fifty bucks.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I smell gas, that means, 'rich ram vapor.' Where else would fresh gas smell come from? I'm sure you have not one gas leak. Canister smells are more closed loop with the little pump running every pulse on #3/4 cylinder intake feeds being the pump suck and the vapor sucking that loop closed.

Just covering my, smellow-meter. So, can we pinpoint a PC map a little on the fat side are the grid settings? Over rich is power drop. Slight rich is power gain. Bone stock lean is that base map. Might be faster than Pee'don is my guess. Map is worth shit/smell'inn you ain't gell'in at this point.

You close down the hot side of the PC, remember harley? Test ride that bike now. Do not touch the a/c nor the pipe. If it comes back better than it was with the rich set PC in the loop... YOu owe me fifybucks! If not... We even.

FYI: a pc3 map wont work on a pc5 and if he tried using pc3 software to map it would be off. the pc5 has more rpm mapping points than a pc3. this would cause it run like ass.
