I'm only kidding and don't take it as a compliment! But you sound like a magazine writer with a press kit in hand just leaving one. I read weirdwaysingworld and the kid always quotes ignition retard but I counted 5 bikes with either [their bikes were a design of] air cutters that were in the air cleaner, at the subthrottles or a combo of the exhaustsub call it, working the air slowing not some sort of ignition.

Then, if that is the case; you would have to include the introduction to the sub-systems when everyone was complaining of air lag with the first 14. You remove that sub-system, you need to show me the ignition lag now kind of air-sub vs. their interpretation of some ignition stall when a simple sub plate [removed] says different. And I am no expert to say the least if others disagree with me about the subject. So, see how confused I am?

Next 14 better stomp your little 1000cc ponies or I'm going to knock on their front door and toss that while I say, she here, she he ho. 2+2+2-fucking-late for the party!

ROFL, Yes, I had to. Felt left out. Kruz keeps raising the bar. Tried talking wife into the Ten but she is not ready. She also knows it's really for me. Got to watch what I say to, she reads this stuff at times..... I just told her that you guys started it what was I to do lol.

Her first day home. Crime to do this, but some things must be done. Poor Thing.

Wow! Getting right down to business, I see. There are definitely many advantages to having two 14s. I guess if she is reading the forum, the "it's a smaller, lighter and easier to handle bike" wasn't going to hold water. Congratulations. Now you have a set of twins. I'm guessing yours will be the evil twin, right? I need some encouragement but I'd like to ride a new ZX-10. It's okay, there are plenty of things to divert my attention for a while. Reading these threads sort of keeps me on the edge. It will take some sort of unusual event to push me over but I am slipping.

Beautiful bike Romans, that is a shame to bring it home and start gutting it but the finished product will be well worth the effort.

Hub, I told you I was no TC expert. I re-read that Cycle World tech article on the 10R's TC system last night....it mentions nothing about the subs or fuel cutting, only timing retard. Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just repeating back what the magazines have already reported.

Rook, you only live once and you can't take any of it with you. If you really want a 10R and can afford it, do it. I do not regret buying any of the bikes I have, even the cruiser is fun.

All I can tell you is this. I installed the subs again and she shifts smoother than ever. Imagine that! That tiny air slowdowner blade makes a big difference. So say if I were to become an expert of some sub-sensing, I did not change the ignition, I changed the air flow.

I am just the messenger. Once again, if Sickill World is in the ignition camp like the more air campers, Weirdwaysingworld and that press packet still have not a clue after 5 bikes now 6 with an exhaust sub, don't shoot the messenger we are going to war with the ignition crap against the sub-systems in the air cleaner/throttle body/exhaust can... Can you see where my ign vs. sub is in conflict with now two magazines. And they receive those press kits and have no clue how to read it or ride it?

To CW and RRW >> I don't think you ragayzine guys have a clue do you?; said the messenger.

Watch the can. Go stick a long screwdriver down the tiny hole, see if it runs deep? Probably not, but it zigs and zags open pipe, right? Then, what is the most gain in simple form? Change the exhaust so it breathes faster out, right? So, is not that e-sub about to gut the can sort of speak? You get all that power the more rpm you climb, i.e., she opens blade like the subthrottle.

1-Full = Call it all power on e-sub goes WOT, right?
3-Full = Call it half e-sub opens and holds down spin, right?
2-Mid? = Call it street moped like the '06 14 rider sub-slower.

I'm no expert, but if I follow TPS (throttle position sensor), I get ignition curve no matter watt>>> As it's own entity. I am no expert, but I remove sub, I touched not one ignition curve. Subs removed has no bearing on that same vacuum pull on the IAP (intake air pressure sensor). That IAP calls the i-curve. Instead of reading a pound via two blades, it reads the same or say a different pound but adjusts ignition as it can one blade pressure or a two blade pressure.

If we drop out the TPS and IAP, we still have our digital kick in as backup for the CS (crank sensor) times the ECU call the ignition calc is the rpm. Once again, did the ignition need the sub-systems? My guess is no. And I am no expert, I am just dissecting two entities. One is a various signal, the other is the base or penultimate signal(s).

Again, I am no expert in tuning. If I were to go tuning, would I first want to know how to tune the entities or will that sort of make me lost in finding what slowed or changed the toggle stations to romp/stomp/city travel kind of ignition gauging or air entry/exit gauging? I'm asking because I am no expert on this bike.

Within a few years, I now have a new entry to the handle bars and am missing out. I'm here with cash waiting for a toggle switch bike LOL to beat your tiny cylinders, my man. You may gag me with a spoon up ahead for a bit, but I am going to bite you the longer you keep that TPStommped in said position.

Wheel-speed sensors are a key component of OEM TC systems, but S-KTRC does without an accelerometer (Ducati) or a gyro bank-angle input (BMW). The Kawi system (in development for five years) uses a Mitsubishi ECU to monitor engine speed, throttle position, acceleration rate and comparative wheel speeds to judge the bike’s slip angle, retarding ignition timing if the tires need to be reined back in.

Hub, time to put away the crack pipe and get back on your meds.

Call your boy Ivan, Kruz... He'll know.

I remember seeing a vid of the subs closing on the 2011 10r to restrict the topend... Wonder if that's why there's confusion as to how the TC system works.

Remember that " Le Control De Willy"YouTube vid? That sure "sounded" like ignition timing being altered to me.

Like I said, the little guy always has to be running. The big hole is being channeled. Whatever pipe you think is happening, I am asking if that sub is hooked up to a loop as if you lift, so does the ignition like I said. What kicks in is a combo of both or it's one or the other which is it?

Kruz, Don't start telling me to put away my #2 phillips 'screwdriver with a twist' my words around. Did we revert right back to crank speed? And is the ECU controlling both air jammers or ignition? Remember, this is more developing that sub-system if you have both an air gate in the throttle bodies and the exhaust mid-tube.

Once again, was that a ragayzine quote or the factory brochure you quoting some ignition swing and said nothing about any sub-jamming [to] the air retard.

I know nothing...about any timing or anything.I have to agree with Dogo....the video showing the "wheelie control" deal....the engine sputtering.Sounds exactly like mine when I hit the limiter.(which I try not to do...but...occasionally).Doesn't the 14 have an engine (preset) limiter AND a speedo limited 186?They're two different things, aren't they? There are two limiters, right?I STILL don't know HOW my ignition actually works...I have that manual advancer on mine.Set for 4 degrees.Now...IDK IF the 4 degree advance setting actually is "across the board"...or what. The ECU still controls the amount of advance...yes?But does it allow 4 degrees "over" in every ignition pathway?IDK.To me...it seems like the ECU would somehow attempt to rein the "correct" timing(factory)back in if it detected an advance. So I really don't know what's happening across the timing "mapping" on my bike.It is noticeable from the very bottom end on up,till she starts hitting probably around 4,5K.At least it "feels" peppier on the bottom. But she still sputters at around 11,500,11,600.The engine won't keep revving beyond that...it sputters like the 10.

Sounds exactly like mine when I hit the limiter.

i agree with you guys, completely. When I saw the track vid wher the dude comes out of the corner on one wheel, the engine sounds just like the fuel cut of the rev limiter or the TSL. They perform the same function- to slow the engine down. Works for speed control and I don't see why it would not work for wheelie or tire spin control.

Kruz was reading me some info explaining the TCS. It said that the traction control was achieved by retarding timing. That would seem to be much smoother and safer than the abrupt interference of the TSL on the 14 (I tripped mine through my speedohealer by accident at 40 mph and it scared the sh!t out of me- hit the limiter doing 1st gear wheelies and that is pretty rough, too-could be deadly in a corner) Maybe the ZX-10 traction control is a combination of timing and fuel cut?

Then again, the argument taken by the other side is the same argument used by busa owners in response to negative comments about Hayabusa brakes: " I didn't buy this thing to slow down, I bought it to go fast." The new Zx-10 is a great bike even if you don't use the traction control.

Ordered a DMP Fender Eliminator Kit and a set of carbon fiber LED rear turn signals. Was a bit conflicted about whether to go with clear or smoked lenses but ended up going clear to match the tail light LEDs. I'm going shopping for a carbon fiber tank protector during lunch and will post up pics once I get all the goodies on there. Man this bike is going to be light, I'm already peeling stuff off to lighten it even more. Rook...order one.....now! Blue07 and Romans...you too!

I'm thinking of going with either the Akrapovic slip-on with link pipe or the R77 Yoshimur 3/4 system. Either way you retain the stock headers. From what I've seen on the dyno, there is no advantage to replacing the stock headers, they're that good.

Should I go with carbon fiber end cans or polished stainless? I've always had CF on everything, never tried a polished can, might be nice especially on a black bike.

BTW, I bought a ProGrip tank protector during lunch and already put it on there. I wanted full carbon fiber but they had a red to black carbon fiber fade so I bought that. The bike has a lot of red accents, fork tube tops, wheel accent stripes, zx-10r and ninja decals and I thought it would blend in. I'm sure Rook will render an artistic opinion.

Black and red --works with the suit. Your girls might start to understand if you explain in terms of matching accessories to attire. I'm sure they would not dream of going out in a blue dress with a tan purse. lol

I would go with a cf muffler but if you are getting sick of that, Ti is always cool. Go with the lightest weight. In fact, you might want to consider weight of the OEM header----even though it is ti, it might be horsey if it is built like the 14's steel header.

Thanks Steven, I'm thinking the Akra may be the way to go in C/F.

First Mod....LOL! It's not much but it's a start and I've only had the bike a few days. The red/carbon fiber fade tank protector seemed to match the red shock spring and other red details on the bike. I believe it already has received the Rook Seal of Approval.... lots more coming!

For some reason the CF does not appear as an option on their website. Only Ti can. If you go with it, buy the collector eliminating pipe for extra $ 160.00. I did that on my ZX-6R. It looks much cleaner that way.
