All those Kawi's spinning rpm at Keith Code's schools, all they do is change tires I bet. Now, with a fleet of BMW's, Keith's tour around the country is going to drop because the bikes can't keep that wringing out like a green one. "Hi, Keith, when you coming out dis way?" "Well, those screamer beemers are not ass durable as a...' 'Lucky I left on good terms-hint-hint."
Hour vs. Hour, who is sitting on the rack and not sitting waiting on the track? Gonna be interesting to see.

Spy photo. Room ear is, since the beemers are running mid pack, one of the Big4 has reentered the racing arena with this show in.

Shoe in, show what! Big4 is going to come out and footnote that pile. Beem leaves the scene. KTM out of nowhere is up front with an unknown? How long was that engine on the dyno? Since 2004? First concept to prototype? I don't know? I'm just guessing.
How many years it take the 14 to develop from paper to dyno? 2/3 years before the public bought it in 2006? Rollover cars, foot pedal sticks, Japan is not looking too faced. How many heads rolled there and at BMW they just scratch their heads... If they can first pull it out of their pocket pool of engineers.

I don't think that anyone is hateing on the Beemer, its just that the monster motorcycle is not living up to the hype. It is just as light as every 1000 if not lighter, has just as much torque as the rest and has about 15-20 hp over all its competition and yet can't finish in the top 3! This motorcycle should be kicking the A$$E$ of the big four, but yet it is not, This bike should have the big four worried to death about losing money in sales because it is priced on par with its competition and has more advanced tecnology but they are not. If I were BMW, I would blame it all on rider error and try to snag a well known rider, maybe a Spies or Rossi, if that was the case and then the motorcycle still does'nt produce it will have answered one very important question that we all have wondered the answer to......
How much horse power is too much, when it is'nt a factor any more, so apparently what yamaha and honda a putting out is the correct formula. But BMW can say they do make the most horse power........ and?

I was just reading the new sportrider and saw a letter a subscriber sent in, can't remember it word for word. He was talking about the fact that the beemer was a good bike and the fact that it should be, He went on to say that BMW has had years to copy what works on japanese sportbikes and leave out what doesn't. He said that if the beemer wasn't a good bike after they used existing technology from the others it would just show that the company was a failure. He said it was funny to see that the s1000rr didn't use duolever or paralever technology that BMW has sold to their die hard followers for years as cuuting edge technology.
To an extent I have to agree with him. I think the s1000rr is a good bike, it's fast and handles well. If you want to pay 16k you can get one with all the electronics on it but for that price you can go the ducati or aprillia route. The base model that sells for 13k and is competetive in price to the jap liters doesn't have any of the fancy electronics which leads to the million dollar question. On the street is this base model any better than the jap liters? I don't think so.
All that does is throw another liter into the mix and in the end it comes down to the rider. The base model is no easier to ride fast than any of the others and it boils down to model loyalty.

One rider is torn up from crashing = I would not send out a rider that was NOT 100% in mind/body. No disconnects. This guy is done.
One rider is some burned out champion = Nothing like a young gun with raw talent to just wax the group is find the next Rossi.
Has the bike proven it can run up front? Duh!

Heathun said it very well! Who pushes the limits of their 175 rwhp bikes and needs 15-20 more at peak?
Especially for street riding it's absolutely laughable IMHO.
Or maybe it's just me- I would have put a turbo on my 14 if that was what I desired.
Here's a few videos in which the riders skills and cajones match the capabilities of the powerful machine

Mass no doubt about the guys riding ability but in the second video why in the hell is he using 4 fingers to brake. Ive always been taught and to this day use the 2 finger technique and in some cases use only 1 finger for trail braking. I've never been to a race school that taught anything different.

Even braking deep into the markers I've never needed to use more than 2 fingers. I guess I just feel I have better throttle control and that allows me a smoother transition coming back on the gas and off the brakes without upsetting the suspension especially when going in hot and trail braking into the turn.

I saw the Sportrider Liter Bike Shootout yesterday. A couple of surprises, the Aprilia RSV4 ended up dead last in both street and track portions. The BMW won, no surprise there but what was surprising is it got a spanken on the track by both the CBR 1000RR and the ZX-10R, infact only fourth fastest around the track despite DTC, ABS and shift assist. Apparently the track didn't play to the Beemers long suit which is top end oriented.
There is no doubt now that the Beemer is anywhere from 20 to 30 HP up on it's literbike rivals, all beyond 10,000 rpm though. The Honda was 25 HP down and still was able to match the Beemer in most relevant categories and whipped it good in the 80-100 mph and track test due it's overabundance of midrange which is useable just about everywhere. I'm not convinced I would want a BMW, especially at the $16,000 price of admission. Also, wait until a base model is tested against the Jap liters for oranges to oranges comparison. Without ABS and Dynamic Traction Control, shift assist etc. it might fall to the back of the pack ala the Aprilia.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14qO1MYpszk That is a sweet running engine. Who needs a bullet train. NY has the infrastructure already! Get a lane!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3YxubLbINI I watched that tach in the video; hear that note like it had plenty left upstairs. So, Brock is explaining 'shot' and you can just tell that power-band, hearing how that thing is running sweet is beat my meat till the King knocks you dead... Look out for the under $10,000 winner in green.
