Dang Blue didn't know the story, just heard your bike had been down. Really sorry to hear this but I'm happy to hear you're OK now and the bike is back to 100%. Man, how fast were you going when you went down? No bent forks, guess that blows Hub's theory? Anyway, there is hope my bike will be good again. Both you and Bean went through it and came out the other side smelling like a rose.

BTW... do you think I was a bit too hard on the Hub?

Nah...Hubster's hard as nails man.I saw his crash pics...dude has got some backbone my man.He knows when he's talkin chi%.It's all good.

It's pretty interesting..to me anyway...our wrecks were virtually "the same".My speed? At least 60,but slowing fast.Probably hit the ground the first impact at around 45 or so.Enough to do majorly serious bike damage...don't know HOW she escaped crushin the side cases, but she did...somehow.Everything else...gone.I think the pipes actually saved her from way more serious structural stuff.Only a small indentation on the right swingarm where the pipe pushed into it somehow.Didn't even scratch the paint...can you believe that?!I was like...how the hel%?But it didn't hurt the swingarm any....she stayed straight and true.

When I start sayin stuff like an opinion about say, your bike condition or whatever...I'm only going by what seems "logical" to me.I'm no technician. It makes sense to me sayin I see minimal damage to yer bike....and this is why.I don't actually KNOW.Lots of variables. What turns out okay with one bike/crash may be completely disastrous for another bike/crash.I can only go by what happened with mine. And the outcome.I wouldn't begin to assume..."ya Kruz..yer bike's fine...no problem"....it very well may be...I hope it is...and it "probably" is considering the circumstances. But I can see Hub's points as well.He does have his way of seeing situations...and that's great. If we were all the same...what fun would THAT be.He's a smart guy...lots of experience.I listen to him everytime he posts up about fixing something or whatever.Always good to have different viewpoints I think. And I doubt if ANY of us here are 100% sure about exactly what we need to do to maintain our 14's and fix things and stuff. But everyone has a voice in this deal.Whether they've been ridin for ten minutes or ten years.I can ALWAYS learn somethin new about my bike by coming here and readin and all.

Gonna take more than what you said Kruz to REALLY piss Hub off methinks. He wouldn't be callin you "professor"if he didn't like ya!!!

This is a crash thread Hub, do you bash the man that crashed?
Yes/No. Yes, if you never broke skin even. No, there is no way I would take bean through a bone that has some problems, he's not riding for a year. You take the bike apart next day. I could not get out of bed for 4 months. Then use one hand for awhile. Try working on the bike with one hand. I couldn't open a can of beans with one hand. And there are thousands coming home with less than we have now.

Is that your game? Remember karma's a bitch, what goes around...
I'm going to turn it around alright. Kind of didn't think how well you got off and you and I should be crying not joking about it. But you don't see my side when I make a joke about that scratch.

You remember back in '06 when you cartwheeled your first 14 down the road at a buck oh five?
I caused my own accident and never blamed anyone but me. Walked it right back to my home made harness; too close to the throttle arm. Did I sue anyone to change their design so it won't happen to you like it was a fluke and now???

I'll bet you do...do you remember me ever making one negative comment? Did I ever ask you to validate your man card? Did I? The fact is, you know the facts, I was cutoff by an 18 wheeler in the rain with no where to go and by the grace of GOD walked away from it.
Oh bullshit. You were hauling ass in the rain, and so did I. Lanes came down to 2 and here is a car moving over and see, you didn't know that in that rain, I was hauling too. Never touched the back and I am conditioned to hit the front believe it or not. You are conditioned to freeze on the rear. At my age, I still practice leaving marks on the paint so I can hear the quick release like human-abs. But no, I have to lay a little layer on your thin skin?

Could you have done any better? Monday morning quarterbacks are a dime a dozen Hub, that's why no one will ever hire one. You assume I got on my back brake too hard when no one knows that, not even me and I was the there. Fact is everything happened way too fast to ever know what really happened.
I think I can handle a little forensic guess if you want a foot hand placement and who was dominate in place.

Not one word of encouragement from you throughout this entire thread, just bent this and bent that. I see how you are.
Well, once again, you all think that front end took a straighten out the front end, wait for my stand?

Professor, it just keeps going and going and going is that front end bent I tell ya. But alas, no one listens to turtle. Kind of a sick dark humor. Dr. Eyes'eel Burn here. No one needs any meds here. We need more crash is keep Kawi busy shipping shit out. I'll keep dishing out the man cards so they don't slow these puppies down. I wanna really have a whopper of a send off. Yip PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Yada Yada Yada...Kruz...tell Hub to go piss up a rope.Hub....yer actually startin to make some sense Listen guys...we're all friends here...geez..been through this BEFORE...remember?I defended JEFFO...ya'll wanted my head.I said...."okay...screw you guys...all of ya".Think it was me and Heathun that ended up wondering at the end of THAT little fiasco..."are we alone"?It all worked out.

Kruz...the "turtle" don't know EVERYTHING...almost,but not quite.I say..the FORKS ARE FINE!!!!There..."so let it be written,so let it be done!"

I don't care WHAT the Hubster says....I see it different....the crash that is .I mean honestly...who better to diagnose this problem than MOI.Hub no longer OWNS a 14,right Hub?

Kruz ya know if you take your time sheill be right! if ya not in a hurry just grab the Bargins as they turn up mate I know how ya must feel with the miss-hap x 2 with the ZX14 earlier, with this now but im sure ya know with hindsight you may look back and laught at this in years to come, hey my wife shunted my new 03 CBR1100 off it's side stand reversing her car out in 2003 stuffing the L/H side! Then my 04CBR1100 fell on my car 2009, Sidestand not down right LOL Not ! then after $8000+ repairs on both I got her back that evening, then next day I went out with my wife and mate Goody,we took the wrong turn and went up this steep bitumin track, i turned right into a two car sloped park I hit a pothole the bars snapped right she stalled and bucked my wife off 4 meters I couldn't reach the lower right as she went over,SHIT I scraped the hole right side of the upper N lower R/H fairing. I only picked her up 12 hours before, I felt sick in the gut for months, Now three years later im about to Cellerbrate er um not really this 14th June 1 year so far , and the Black/Bird paid for my first three months off with no income ! I was bitter for many months after! but now I know that's HISTORY NOW and about the stupid shit that happened to me too and I now have a better bike and gear awaiting my return, it's a hard way to do it kruz but they say NO PAIN NO GAIN, I can look back and laught at the CBR1100 stuff-ups now years later

BeanMeister, your 14 is looking sharp. How did your crash happen? What did it cost in repairs?

Hub, I know, you're the greatest racer that know one's ever heard of and incapable of making any mistakes...probably walk on water just to keep in practice....I've heard enough, signing off.

Professor,

You made a touchdown and now you prop back to the pits. Say we all flew in for the event. You know that big show of shows. One wing is dragging on the runway but your wheels are not tracking like you'll never make a decent takeoff out of there.

I treat that bike like it was a jet fighter plane. A cargo plane. That means I can't release that bike with my name on it. And without that crash job ready for cross country with cargo sitting on the back and the rest in the saddle bag kind of pressure I put on myself; so as not to get the dealer all in court for my half/ass send the plane back up, here you go.

No slowass racer wants to admit getting lapped, especially if they are some sort of great racer says you! I keep throwing your assumptions back at you [like Privvy assumes]. I brought a front end photo in just for this case. I do make mistakes; somewhat daily. Not a thing I can do but learn from them for the next day it won't happen again on my watch. Not if I can help it, that is. I'll argue my point, sign that up-sell on the crash estimeat... Meat that ground one more time you'll be free and clear of nothing in the way.

Then, that front end skates all over the runway. Yeah, I'm going to put you [backup] in that plane, Kruz; you got another thing coming I sign off on that work-order. You may do it your way. I'll call Huston, get you clearance to take off on that wrinkled prop/landing gear!

That is how I see that front end of your bike hitting the tarmac; you are off to the ER. Crashing goes with the sport. Either way, Professor; I'm going to slow down the cashes so you can catch up slow you know a little of WOT I know. And you know what that means?

Turn the man card over. On that side you punch that hole is where you landed on that side of the sport. See where it shows that "OOPSeas!" Icon? Here ya go.

I continually have to squash the peepholes magazine kind of show yourself in public and already there are assumptions gay lore! See, you need to bring that Dick She CUP forward so I can qualify for some sort of job/closed course/non-cartel tell anyone I can qualify for fool stamps and a fair well check my oilevel... Hubster, go to your local airport, find a certified propeller repair station and watch them straighten a mangled aluminum propeller. As long as the bend is within limits and they have the data they will straighten and recertify....once. Bring your man card for validation.

PLOP-PLOP-PLOP Sure Azzhit LOOK KEY hAND THEM OVER! This is my last post... And all that is left here is a roll of the dice.

Say nothing.

Eat me plain ol with a 42°F'er ...

... And wait.

How well are they built with a thicker leg being the front end in reverse? Going from thick stem to a hole in the stem:

Be honest with a test ride and ask yourself:

NO: Not a bend but the bar I changed and that says both bars are as if I never dropped the bike. I can see the front wheel is as perfect as if it were new. It rides as new without driving off to the side is one way hose say can you see those two tubes/hoses, hose it going with the tear down? Are they are straight as an arrow say?
YES: I'm [not] looking for revenge. I am still in wonderment knowing that frame is hard to move. Now, are the forks?
MAYBE: Yes maybe, no matter how they flip that front end via leg or tube, you'll have the answer soon enough.

Well Blue and BeanMeister I got her up on the triple tree stand this afternoon and dropped the front wheel. Front axle dead straight. Now the acid test, slid the axle back into place from right to left with the nut still clamped in the left lower, snick.... Perfect mate up, no force at all required to engage the threaded portion of the axle with the captive nut. I'm convinced there is no differential displacement of the two fork tubes relative to each other....translation: nothing appears to be bent. While I had the wheel off and axle out I checked each individual fork leg for bind in the stroke...smooth, no bind noted.
Once again checked front rim runout.....zero runout found.

OK, now for the acid test, I need a test ride at highway speed where I can hold the bike in a very straight line and then check to see if the handlebars are perfectly straight. Problem: how do you tell if the bars are straight as there are no index marks? Solution, I centered the bars perfectly using caliper measurements from the compression adjusters in the center of each fork tube back to the two aft fuel cap mounting screws, then painted a black, 1/8 inch wide sight line on the Ohlins steering damper shaft on each side of the damper cartridge. Voilà, if both lines are visible your handlebars are dead nutz centered. Cool part of this is a handlebar could actually be bent and it won't affect the centering since the measurements are taken off the fork tube centers, not the bar ends. Next step, go ride it on a nice straight section of highway, hopefully one with no traffic. I'll report later on the final verdict.

No worries at all kruz if the handle bars were off at a couple of degrees out my mates after a crash (dirt bikes) would just straddle at the front and squeese their legs together on the front wheel then the rider would just twist the handlebars in the opposite way till it was perpendicular at 90% to the handlebars kruz! then just ride off like their wasn't any problem,of course if the forks as you have no bends or damage then that's all ya need to do if it,s out a just a bit!So Good for you kruz ,things are already going forward for ya mate! Well folks, I got some good news and some bad news. Good news is my centering index worked perfect, once up to speed on the highway access road, the forks find true center of the wheel due to centrifugal force. Bad news, HubMeister was right, she's tweaked about 1/8" to the left. Up on the road at speed the left mark rode consistently 1/8" to the left indicating my bars were turned 1/8" to the right of true center to compensate.

More bad news, I rode for about 30 minutes, when I returned to the garage, the right fork leg was damp with fork oil. That's a sure sign the tube is bent. I suppose it could also be in a bind and compressing the seal on one side.

I wonder now what my options are. The amount of tweak is very small but it is there. Fix the bike cosmetically and sell or trade in on a new '11 ZX-10R?

I hate to pass on my problems to someone else.
