Blue baby, I'm leaning hard in that direction, I think the old 10R just needs a little luvin and some new parts. Had her up to almost 70 mph yesterday just checkin out that front end, she seems fine. I'm heading over to TRex Racing tomorrow to pick up the 10R adapter pin for my triple tree stand. I'll get her off the ground maybe this weekend and pull the front axle. If she goes "kaching" maybe there is some bend or twist there, if not then roll on baby.

I liked the test mule w air filters sticking out. The new bike, Ithink that one is more conventional. Hub's ytried everything out already.

Now that is the thing that got me hooked. I was but a lad. I guess you could say I'm older than Hub in that sense. Never got to ride a sport bike until I was 42......or maybe that makes me still a baby? IDK but born in '66, I swear I remember watching some race footage on TV at some point, marveling at those guys hanging a knee and leaning way over on faired bikes. Harleys were never the same after I saw that.

I'm just glad yer okay.That's really all that matters.That bike is still "rockable"....no doubt about that in my mind.I sure wouldn't ditch it.Course,I'm kinda funny that way...you know...get attached to stuff.My first thoughts on seeing my beautiful bike in shambles was exactly(???) as yours Kruz."get rid of it"...that's what went through my mind at first.Don't know IF that's how you felt actually,but I did.After the shock of seein her crunched so bad,and it bein MY fault completely.Kind of a "punishment" deal I guess was goin through my mind.But after I calmed down....and started takin a look at it....the more I knew I HAD to make it right again and hold on to my baby.Glad I did.Had my 'at the time' Mechanic come over and assess the "damage"...He suggested..."I think MAYBE you could repair yer bike...ya....it looks doable".Not to me it didn't.Geez....I'll never forget how I felt.BAD...really bad.Just past the break-in point...runnin perfectly.Then...BAM...toast.You couldn't do anything with what you were dealt,except what you did.Which actually probably saved your life.Can't even imagine the damage you'd have done(to yourself) had you ran into that trailer or somethin.Geez.

If she's runnin straight...I'd keep er,and go with it.Some variable speed curves and such,rights and lefts....you'll be able to feel if somethin's not okay with the frontend.If she tracks straight with no hands on the bars....maybe a tad of lean right or left just to stay balanced...if she'll do that...she's probably A-Okay.Shouldn't be any difference when cornering in the way she dives in,holds a line,and feels through the bars...the force needed to keep er in there.Should feel the same right or left.You'll know.Any weird front tire wear that doesn't look normal and symmetrical,could be signs of the tire out of track(forks misaligned).I'd watch for that once you get er back on line with everything attached and set to ride.Hell...you are right Kruz...I don't care what anyone says.These zx front forks are VERY STOUT.They can take some pretty good downs and still come out okay.Not sayin a straight on slam or somethin,but a slide without slamming into something...yeah....they can do that.Mine did.And yours most likely did also.She's a sweet 10....I'd keep er.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Blue, this has been a tough one since it came so close on the heels of the two tip overs, big difference there was my comprehensive policy paid for everything, this ones on my nickel. I've decided to fix her up and see how it goes, kind of a summer project. At least it's rideable so I can keep the oil stirred up and the battery charged. I'm planning to pick up that triple tree adapter in the morning and get the bike in the air. When I pull the front axle I'll know. If she slides back into the nut on the left lower, she's OK but if it pops when I back the axle out, something is sprung. Triple tree or tubes, one or the other or both. These are tough forks, I couldn't believe the hit Hellfires front end took and nothing out of alignment. I hear ya on the punishment, just remember though, God is very slow to anger, I think stuff may just happen. What did you hit on your 14, don't think I ever heard the story?

Ya..I mentioned it a long while back.Inexperience.Not feeling completely up to par that day.Tryin to follow someone else.Didn't know the road.Big HP.Fast acceleration.Same story..different rider.Came in WAY too hot.Panicked.Locked the rear.Skidded,highsided.That was all she wrote.Over in a heartbeat.Good lesson early on that's for sure.Landed on my back...knocked unconscious.Broken collarbone....damaged shoulder.8 inch gash on the back of my Arai.Had that been my head...I wouldn't be writing this right now.Woke up numb.Bike about three feet away from me....ruptured fuel tank...gas goin everywhere.Crawled over and turned the key off.That's all I really remember until I got home and the trailer guy pulled up with her on the back.BAD.Real bad.Three good lessons with that one.1)ride yer own ride....2)don't underestimate the performance of this machine,and don't expect your rear brake to solve everything!...and 3)If ya don't feel 100% okay..tuned in...yer askin for BIG TROUBLE in little China.Gotta be "on the money" with THIS bike.
