Hello all I'm new here I have a question about slip-ons do you have to have a power commander installed to run slip-ons?
If not is there any negative effects in performance if you don't run a power commander?

No you do not HAVE to have a Power commander .I do not know of any BAD side effects (More Noise) . Your bike most likely would breath better weigh less and you may gain a couple of Hp. The power commander with a Good Map would just allow you get the most out of your mods and will help with your other mods to come later .Go for it . Cheers.

...the idea is to run a small diameter "punch" down the exhaust... and get a deeper exhaust note.

No, you will not ear that deeper note. More like: Whistle through that punched hole is how high is that pitch? Open your mouth, laugh light santa. Now, laugh deep like santa. Under your tree, you're gonna get a little whistle. "Ho-Ho, Green Giant."

That eye candy, keen.

scorpions are nice and quiet. I have the stainless cans, got them for $289 shipped new from jazz motorsports beck in Sept. they are not as light as other cans but they clean up well and have a nice quiet tone

I have Two Brother's Carbon Fiber slip on's... Love the sound and it really is a lot of fun being at a bike night with all the guys on the 600's and liter bikes snap their heads around when I crank it up. That deep throaty rumble gets everyone's attention.

I never here anyone say anything about micron cans, they do have a very nice sound and the colors are kinda cool. You realy dont see them on very many bikes any more and thats what I like,They are a little on the expensive side but the quality is there man! I run the full serpent system with a black fade can. Its not real loud until you open it up then look out!I saw a guy with the blue fade slipons on his blue 14 and man it looked way cool.

You could: Compare HP [slip-on] rating buy base running the dyno with open header. There is your base number. Whom be the quiet slip on, I bet will make the least amount of HP being it clogs the air from moving quicker out the end. It has to bang off so much baffling and packing to a minimum to make HP. All that energy and heat is absorbed and down goes the HP is slows down the air speed.

You know dem dare farm boys will repair that plow in the field. No John Dear me will fit a CAT's meow is stock has the best sound. Take your fastest color and use it for packing. I'mana gonna cut your acre is a few yards and yur fack kin pack kin frack kin can is not packin is fake 4-in-1 year ass is up!

They are stock, I just used mothers protectant on them. Also I think it might be the sun hitting them in the picture that makes them shine like paint. How bout that view, my friends and I came off the mountain and went across that valley doing about 140, out here in AZ we ride im we dont look at im. Out here its all here, serious twistes, hundred mile an hour sweepers and crazy straits.

That sounds like something a little less drastic than gutting. I remember one guy discovered that he was not able to gut his stockers on his 08 like it had been done on 06-07s.

Juice, those M-4s look awsome and they must sound even better. Super light, too. Get that beauty fixed up.

Has anyone put on the D&D slipons as I like the looks of the black ones and the clip on youtube sounded good to me as I dont want that much louder but deeper like everyone else,
I also may have found a one use discount of 15% through a friend

Just installed Akrapovic slip ons because I have a center stand and wanted the stand stopper that the Akros have built in. Very pleased with the volume---nice and deep and doesn't interfere on the open road. I have no idea what it sounds like with the quiet baffles as I removed them before installing the mufflers. For my money and ease of mounting these turned out to be the ones.

I do not have a sound clip and couldn't find one when I ordered the pipes but I can give you a written description (LOL) This morning I went for a short cruise and was passed by some squids on 600s because I was gawking at the scenery not riding hard. Long story short, compared to the "squid rockets" the ZX had a far, far deeper growl that did not hurt the ears. I was most impressed with the weight loss that the Akros did for the bike as well.
