slip ons
03/01/09 10:18 AM

Being from an area where I see very few ZX14's I need some input on volume levels of slip-ons.
I'm looking for a nice sound but NOT loud.
Which ones are quieter than others?
Looks-wise....I love the Ti-Force high mounts and I understand they are "relatively" quiet and there is an additional silencer baffle that can be added in the pipe for even more quiet. But I still want louder than stock (a little).

Any ideas?

Yoshimuras, scorpions, ad Ti-force are relatively quiet.

Is the Akrapovic single can quiter = YES. Can I feel the weight change= NO . I loved the Muzzy deep tone .All the sound was in the back and in both ears .Nice balance. The Akrapovic has a all buisness sound up front which I never had before .The bike now has a Deeper tone in the front. So now the balance of sound is from the front of the bike to the back of your right ear .The power change was AWESOME . Ivan supplied the Maps .

Muzzy's do have a nice deep tone. I was looking at the 08 Busa and then I saw the 14 with the Muzzy's and asked them to start it up. I was sold on that bike after hearing it. It isn't the quietest exhaust but it isn't obnoxious.

I got the hugger off e-bay . A company from england called powerbronze .Becarefull when you buy . One of the other companies out there does not supply the hardware . The way I picked out the slip on pipes was to go to the bike nights here and listen to as many as I could. For me Muzzy was the clear choice .I thought most of the others sounded like stock. Some were even quieter . Although I have not heard the M4 . Are they loud ?

Howdy Rick, Mudbug was my E-mail. A.K.A. Kawibunga.
Yes the Muzzys sound Grrrrrrrreat. Love the deep tone the 14 puts out with them not the high pitched whine like others.
But to each their own.

Kawibunga , You made it , Welcome aboard . I still think that those stainlees Muzzy oval pipes with some chrome rims would be to die for . Us Canadians can not get your prices .If we could I would have Carrozzeria rims right now .

Put on the Yoshi R77's in spite of the Suzuki allegiance....whatever, I don't care. They sound really deep and bass-y up until about 4500 rpm then they scream.....like look out, muthafucka, here comes a bullet

Gotta question for anyone who might know some tech. Just got the bike out for first ride after winter hibernation and wanta open up the exhaust note a bit more without compronising performance or engine requirements. Was thinking of Muzzys or Scorpians when a friend says; "lets just "centerpunch" the cans."

Hmmmmmmm.........the idea is to run a small diameter "punch" down the exhaust center outlet until reaching the stop. A probe stops about 1/3 to half way down the can. He thinks by punching a small hole through this center stop in the stock exhaust can, it will free up the flow enuff to get a couple of ponies (not really a concern) and get a deeper exhaust note.

Anybody got an idea and/or advice on trying this or not?? Sounds like a good idea to me cuz I'm cheap....... :)

Thanks,
Paul

There was a thread on the old site where one of the members ran a hole saw into the back of the pipe . He showed step by step how and what he did . That would have been just the link you are looking for . All I can tell you is that it has been done and that member liked the results(free mod) .I know it is not much to go on but why not give it a try . Maybe some one here knows the member and can chime in . Cheers .

Welcome to the forum, FreTeGi.

Do you have pics of your bike with this system?
I've heard that those pipes sweep up behind the foot pegs close enough that your heels have to be pivoted up all the time or they will rest on the pipe. Is that true? Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the look of those pipes.
Did you remap or yank the flies?
They may be on my "must have" list.

I had the Two Bros. Ti M5's with the DB killer inserts and loved the sound. I had to replace them due to the bags but I'd buy another set in a heartbeat.

I put on a set of Corbin bags then had Kerry at Area P custom make a set of mufflers which I welded to the stock mid pipes.
