An off-duty undercover New York City police officer was among the crowd of motorcyclists on the scene as SUV driver Alexian Lien was beaten on Sunday, officials confirmed to ABC News today. The undercover narcotics cop did not intervene in the beating out of fear that his cover would be blown, sources said.
shhh his cover may get blown

Even a former leader of the Hells Angels agrees with my view on this situation.
Hells Angels take on the losers that beat up a family man.

So now these punks are somehow less moral than Hell's Angels and other outlaw biker gangs? I guess if the SUV driver would have run over a few of them, they would have referred him to a good driving school.

From article anbove: " the bikers, considering their frenzy, only left Lien with two black eyes and a cut on his face that required stitches indicates that they exercised some restraint."
I'm startting to side with the bikers. The driver was a lot more brutal than they were. I think they're all a bunch of dipshits but I especially don't feel sorry for the driver.

Both parties had what was coming to them. If I was there Ida poked that prick in the nose too.

My 2 cents... If you look at the video closely it looks like the guy who got "bumped" at the start hit his brakes (lights go on), plus he was obviously watching the driver of the SUV and saw it coming, a sort of reverse chicken ... what the hell did he think would happen? The SUV would pull over, kneel down and kiss the guys boots?
I dunno about you guys, but if I've got someone tailgating me inches from my tired, it pisses me off but I'll move over, no way am I going to win THAT battle.
Regarding the hells angels, that's freaking hilarious!
"These clubs, like the Hells Angels or Outlaws, often wear uniforms, ride Harleys and adhere to a code of conduct that would oppose what was seen in the video, Langton said.
"It would be highly frowned on to be violent in front of a wife and kid," he said. "Let's just say that."
Langton recalled a story of an associate from the Montreal chapter of Hells Angels who accidentally killed an 11-year-old in a bombing. That associate was later killed."
Reading between the lines... what the gang SHOULD have done, was have 1 or 2 of them follow the guy home and kill him when his wife and kids aren't around? Geez, I can't believe someone would actually publish this garbage!

Also, although I haven't read a fraction of the news reports, but I haven't heard of any of them mentioning any calls to 911... sure hindsight is 20-20, but I would expect that the driver of the SUV to have at least placed a call into 911 for help if he didn't think to drive to a police station (might not have helped but certainly wouldn't have hurt)

In my mind, the ass-kickers should be charged with assault and battery and the driver should be charged with assault with intent to kill or at least assault with a deadly weapon. It might look different if he had run over some of them AFTER they kicked his ass.
One of the charges against the guy who was originally bumped is unlawful imprisonment. Now that's some legalistic bullshit right there.

not what he says
"[It was] never my intention to make him stop," Cruz said. "I didn't think I was doing anything wrong with just turning into another lane. The other bikes are going as slow as I am.""I was looking over my shoulder to see where my friends were," he said. "I wanted them to pull in front so I could follow them. I didn't brake but when I looked over my shoulder, my hand came off the throttle a little, but the driver didn't slow down at all and bumped me."
Cruz told ABC News' Harris that both he and Lien stopped and he approached Lien for an explanation.
"He looked straight ahead and never made eye contact with me," Cruz said. "So I just went back to my bike and when I was getting on he took off."
Lien's wife, Rosalyn Ng, said that her husband feared for their lives when he decided to take off to get away from the group. As he sped off, Lien hit some of the motorcyclists, critically injuring one, authorities said.

Sheriff's investigators said the victim's wife, Frances Hall, 50, was driving a black Cadillac Escalade south on Loop 1604 around 7:20 p.m. Thursday, when she began chasing her husband and his girlfriend. Bill Hall was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle. His girlfriend was driving a black Range Rover.
well if 1 black range rover can get away with it why not 2

Wow! This is wrong on so many levels 1st of all he meaning the cop is Supposed to call it in when shuting the a highway down. 2nd the cop should have made both riders take off there helmets an making sure it's them on the ID. The video dose not show the other two bike so we don't know if any other bikes were stopped. The cop should have given him a least 3 different tickets on what was seen in this video.
This stop was on the Palisades Parkway heading noth now anybody who knows this Stretch of highway knows troopers don't play over there an I'm not even going to talk about the NJ troopers.
So now what have we learned from all of this? Make sure your papers are right an be prepared to be stopped cause they are still looking for a few of these jackass.
Now as for this trooper he is going to be out some vac. time an put on desk duty for a bit but the only think that mite save him is that he's a K-9 unit an is part of drug traffic unit as well but he will have a lot of down time for this! With that being said if you are stopped by any NY/NJ troopers it could be a long day.
EVERYONE BE SAFE AN RIDE SAFER!!!!

I don't become an asshole when joining a group.....it's no excuse.
It would have been better if the guy that stopped in front of the truck was the one to be run over, but....you join in on stupidity.....and then park your dumb ass if front of an SUV....ya get run over.

An honest cop giving the inside heads up
that's the bad part as much as I don't like cops . these bikers thru him under the bus by posting a video of him on utube ..even after the cop ask him if that camera was off and then let them go .. now his superiors will see this video and nail his ass to the wall ..
