There was a guy called Quasar on the busa forums that would do the same thing for you for 50 bucks or so I believe...I heard some good things about his maps as well. There's also many companies that will remap your ecu for performance muscle cars that way as well. Def let us know how it works out if you do it Big K

Awesome, let us know how it works Scott, I will hold off until we hear back from you. I'm satisfied with the FuelMoto map but willing to try something else until I find that "just right" map....besides, like you said it's only $50, dinner for two at Applebee's.

http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/arizona-local-classifieds/404376-custom-efi-maps-power-commanders-50-00-a.html

Please read the above thread. Like I said before, I'm a bit sceptical, you have to prove something to me....a good line of bs I can smell a mile away. Not sure on this one yet, still doing my homework.

In the thread, he never really answered the guys question about how he could build a map without the bike. The bike in question has serious engine mods, apparently a road racing machine. He mumbled some mumbojumbo about tuning for temperature but never explained exactly what temperature, exhaust gas temperature, cylinder head temperature, coolant temperature etc. or how he could even do it without having the machine there.

There is very little information on the internet on F.A.I.C. except for some advertising, self-promotional material and a few testimonials. I tend not to trust those unless I can independently verify they are not on the payroll. LOL!

OK, Im intrigued but my BS Meter is set to high sensitivity. Either this guy is brilliant, way ahead of the class or he is full of bull and is pulling some kind of con job. If he's tuning using EGT that's cool, that's how we tune aircraft engines and very reliable but you still have to instrument the powerplant with exhaust temperature probes and operate it under load to get the numbers.

I sent him an e-mail to get more information and his response was to send $50 to paypal and he'll send me a map. Hmmmmm!

ok guys heres and update. i sent my $50 in within 12 hrs got a call from jeff(guy that does the maps) spent prob 15-20 on phone talking bout mods on the bike discussed the poppin actually he asked me if i was having a popping issue if so he could eliminate it through the map. also configures map to be used with the accelerator pump option(says he has spent months perfecting this option) plus he gives you detailed instructions for setting the accelerator pump numbers and instructions for setting throttle position. I will have this installed in the pc3 later tonight and let you all know how its working.

the guy seems genuine gives you his cell number and if the map needs tweaked a little or you add something else he will tweak your map for you to make it right. so far im impressed with this so far but have to wait to get it installed and run it before i say much more. but in less than 24 hrs i had a map sent to me

ill keep you posted

after trying this map from f.a.i.c.s. i can only say WOW. this bike is so smooth going thru the gears. ok now with the m4 map from DJ when twisting to wot in 4th or 5th there would be a hesitation before the bike launched with the new map there is 0 hesitation. He claims customers dyno their bikes after installing his maps and get a 5hp increase from map alone and after taking this beast out i believe it. imo this is the best $50 mod ive made thus far.And for those of you wanting to get rid of the decel popping this map eliminated 99% of it (bike only popped once on my ride ) and it was so faint you could hardly hear it. so 2 thumbs up on this map

I talked to Jeff(guy that makes the maps) today he told me to relay to the forum that if anyone would like to discuss his maps just shoot him an email with your phone number and he'd get in touch with you.

Great testimonial! Scotty could you send me a copy of that map attached to an e-mail? Your mods are different from mine so I can't use it but I do want to do a comparison against the DJ maps and against Ivan's map and see what differences there are. I will post up my results. You definitely have me very curious now, what info there is on this guy out there on the internet is all positive, no negatives. Maybe he is on to something here, way ahead of the curve. I still don't understand his methodology though, how he can he tune without the machine, it sounds like an off-the shelf suit, one size fits all? I may just send him $50 and see what he can do. If the map works he'll get a ton of free advertising off me, that is for sure!

Allow me to speculate here. It sounds like he's tuning in the analog rather than in the digital. Think how smooth throttle response was on the old carbureted engines when dialed in. They only had six or seven tuning steps, ie. idle screw, idle jet, slide cutaway, needle jet, needle taper, main jet etc. so you know the A/F wasn't perfect 12.8 to 13.5 at EVERY point in the rpm vs T.P. range but they were smooooooth if you got it right. Think of all the jerky, bad digital fuel injection out there from the factory, 2004 Yamaha FZ1 and 2006 R1 come right to mind but there's a lot of others. Bad fueling down low with a notchy throttle response....digital. I thing he's taking a generic map and tweeking by some analog formula he's come up with to tune for smooth. Most maps, factory, DJ etc. are almost always dead on at high rpm and 100% throttle, even they can get that right. It's down low to midrange where we spend 95% of our time they tend to suck eggs and also in throttle response. Notice he harps on proper setup of the accelerator pump utility and throttle point settings. Maybe this guy is sharper than the rest of us, some are just gifted that way.

skiff if you want a feel good number take it to the dyno and spend $400 if you want real world performance its only a $50 bill and an email away...lol remember dyno cant factor in the ram air effect your bike has on the road. I was like kruz at first a little skeptical but im a believer now and got an xtra $350 still in my pocket hmmm maybe a new set of tires now...lol

Kruz i put this map side by side to the DJ map and there is nothing remotely close in the maps put one of your feulmoto maps up next to a Dj map bet youll really be suprised...lol

Hub living in northern mi i dont have many options nearest dyno is 3 1/2 hrs away, and as far as DJ i think the maps a very generic just good enough to get to a dyno plus only 4-5 maps to choose from and ive tried them all on my bike to see if 1 would work better than the other i personally didnt notice the bike run any better or worse with any of the maps DJ has on thier site so when i loaded this companies map id have to say yes it made a huge difference very noticable i have no vested interest in this co. im just passing on my experience i had with them. if the map was shit id say that and warn everyone here not to be sucked in but thats not the case this co. is a class act and youll not find better customer service anywhere.

Now you're starting to sound like me LOL! I don't think Ivan's map would produce big numbers on the dyno or low ET's on a dragstrip but sooooo smooth is where it is! Seen too many guys get the 400 clam autotune and post big numbers and garbage throttle response. Hub may be on it, guy spends enough time in a dyno room he starts to see patterns, what works and what doesn't (or the fumes get to him).

Got me intrigued now, may have to just drop the 50 and go for broke on the CBR. Already compared the FuelMoto to the DJ and the curves are very close, just a tad leaner here and a touch richer there. Not huge, kinda subtle but definite improvement.

Interesting... I might look into this later on. I was planning on having a custom map done, but haven't yet decided if I want to put in a TRE006a in it or not. I am gonna need to make that decision before going for a custom map.

I have heard from other motorcycle owners about custom 'internet' maps where some tuners are sending out maps without seeing the bike. I always assumed those tuners have some example maps that they start with (based on a dyno tune), and then modify it based on their experience with variations (for example Scorpion exhaust is more restricting than say a twobrothers, and modify the map manually to fit that characteristic.) Anyhow, some people claim very good results with these custom 'internet' maps. (The same people said that they didn't get as good a result with similar tunes in the car world... but for bikes, they were very satisfied.)

I will probably try this and see. Right now my current map is too rich (downloaded from DJ site), as apparent by the black exhaust tips. I don't know when I will get around to it (no time to ride, never mind modifying the bike)... but will keep you all posted if/when I do.

Hub if your talking about calibrating tp no his instructions are with bike not running but it is dead on watched

That's how I set my T.P. on the CBR Scott, hooked up the laptop to the PCIII with the 9volt battery option enabled, warmed up the bike to 180F coolant temp, shut her down, turned ignition switch back on and then reset both 0% and 100% at WOT.

That was one thing I didn't care for when I was setting up Ivan's map on my 14. I had Ivan on the phone and he had me set throttle points with the engine running. Little slow getting off the throttle and the tach went right into the red zone. I didn't much like the sound of that!

I was surprised but it took several resets to get all the numbers to match up this time around. 0% TP was dead nutz on everytime but I was seeing some variation in the numbers at 100% throttle. Third try and I got 100% dialed in right on the money.

I didn't enable the accelerator pump feature becuase I couldn't find anyone that had the right numbers. There's way too many combinations you can use and I just don't have that kind of patience. Most folks I talked to said they couldn't tell any difference. They didn't have the right setup, in theory the acclerator pump should clean up throttle response.

Got my map put in today, talked to jeffo on the phone several times to make sure I did everything right. His customer service is second to none.
