for your info kruz ..my 08 bozza did 10.12 @142mph on a 100 degree day with tire spin and a head wind .. only track day it ever saw ..total of 5 runs complete stock except pipe and bazzaz .. my 14 did a 10.23 with same mods .. 300lbs suited

AND I VOTE NO

YOU DO NOT NEED THIS BIKE IF YOUR OBEYING THE SPEED LAWS ...NOT EVEN FOR PASSING CAUSE YOUR BREAKING THE SPEED LAW ON PASSING

I ride the speed limit. And i stay in the right lane, rarely pass.

Somebody want to tell me to give up the bike or get out of the family? F-off. I use the bike to every bit of its potential where its safe. I've been faster in the 1/4 mile then MOST of you guys have HONESTLY been on the street (best trap speed has been 155 mph).

Reason i ride the speed limit? Well for one, if i get another ticket i lose my license. Lose my license, lose my job. Lose my job, lose my house and the ability to provide for my daughter.

Secondly, if anything were to happen (i.e. cager pulls a dumb one, OR debris in the road, OR tire goes flat, OR i hit a corner too hot) i would be depriving my daughter the chance to get to know me as she grows. I would lose the ability to go out on a sunday ride when i want. Anything can happen at any time.

And yes, i know the same things can happen going the speedlimit. A guy i know just got hit last week by a lady in her car. Text messaging, didnt see him, pulled out and t-boned the bike.

So yeah, i know it can happen. But he got up and walked away. What would happen at 100 mph?

I am still faster than I was 25 years ago. I never married/had kids, knowing I might not come back from a race. Some cop that was on the other side of the freeway today, saw me come down from a 100plus run but bye the time he rubber necked to see me, I was just slowing down blending in with the wolf pack ahead.

155? Man, I can hear the wind change pitch once I start moving. I don't tell you what to do with your life. Don't tell me how to enjoy my time on earth is listen to anyone that never moved past the speed limits telling me to slow down. Mind your own business and text message you life away and now you tell me to do something?

Jeesh, the way a 1098 handles, and how easy it is to lean in a curve, if the front and rear tire aren't scrubbed to the sidewalls within a couple hundred miles you aren't riding it in the right places.

Its like all the people I've known over the years who had 4x4 trucks. Mine had a bardin bumper with a winch inside it and full skid plates and oversize radiators and on and on, and it went deer hunting in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range 5 weeks a year and hauled a duck boat during waterfowl season too. Not to mention hauled dog crates most every weekend while I was training gun dogs too. But so many of these guys kept theirs polished and spotless, never so much as got the tires off the asphalt or dirt on the undercarriage. I imagine the transfer cases wore out on them from disuse.

Why have the darn thing?

YOU ASSUME:

1. You'll die going fast.
2. You will get in an accident.
3. You will get a flat over 100mph +
4. Someone will run a red light.
5. Your a better rider than most.
6. You need laws to protect you is not you > The other guy> Were they texting against the law? So much for laws.
7. You can get away with it, but it's your life, no?
8. You are going to hurt others.
9. You need to tell others to slow down.
10. Too much!

Two speeding tickets in a work zone around here and your license gets
suspended! I'm pretty sure that a 20 year old Ford Taurus can get clocked
at 70 in 50 mph limit.

Cracks me up how some people consider going 20 mph over the speed limit on the highway
worthy of the "tengo cajones" award... on a zx14 nonetheless.

Privateer says: I don't think its so much about the speed, as it is about the common sense.

Absolutely spot on, Privateer.

I do triple digits on every single ride....but I also live on the edge of the desert, miles of flat straight empty smooth road, with no animals bigger than rabbits to worry about. And no cops. Its just me, the road, and big bikes designed to make crazy speeds seem almost sane. Even if I couldn't do the big speeds tho I'd still own a 14, just for the pull of acceleration up to the legal speeds, and more than likely some drag strip time to give me my fix

These bikes handle the comute just fine and when on the tollway its really fun to give it a whack once in awhile . I have been riding one since last Nov and I still do the triple digits now and then just a lot more picky where and when. It a great intown performer also .

I've been lucky so far this season- no tickets.

The last time they got me was at 77 mph in a 55mph- $220 ticket
for arguably being the slowest moving vehicle in traffic... the
douchebag cop wouldn't have it though and just wrote me one.

I was just told today that anything more than 25 mph over the limit in WI is considered reckless endangerment and you automatically loose your license. I'm pretty sure i don't exceed the speed limit by 25 mph in town very often but there are those places like through the parkway where there are no buildings or pedestrians and I guess i coulda lost my license x2 if i had been snagged by a waiting trooper.

Also heard a story about a cop driving one of those new Charger cruisers. I guess he chased down a gsxr1000 doing up to 153 mph over 50 miles of highway. The bike got off the highway and was running low on fuel. The car had warped rotors from brake heat but other than that, the cop hung on him and got him in the end.

Even tho I have some desert area's to run fast...we still have air patrols, and plenty of cops lurking in area's you'd never expect. I ran the 14 up to a quick 150 one evening in a place that should have been safe....there was a cop hiding in the bushes off the road. I never saw him, but my friend did, and told me the officer just sat there and watched me blast by. No ticket that time. but it seems like the police presence is moving farther and farther out in our area, kinda like hungry wolves desperate for food lol.

^^You need to make your bike cop friendly. If you don't ride a Harley, you must paint your bike black and white. I think it might be working in my favor. I got out of my first ticket with a warning and I've had a few compliments on my bike from cops on duty. It's sort of like subliminal advertising, i think.

In many states they are not supposed to chase a bike in excess of 100mph due to the liability issues. Not saying they always follow the rules but most do and it is nice to have a bike that can reach that number so quickly.

When I spent most of my 24 days in Europe bombing south to the coast in France, I found the French police had an obvious strategy.

If they thought they could catch you, they might try. If they couldn't, they didn't even turn the engine on. Most of the police vehicles outside Paris-proper couldn't catch a moped anyway.

I blew past a couple radar setups coming out the Alps into the coastal canyon in the south just before getting to the coast, and they never so much as gave chase.

Unlike in my home country, where they follow me just hoping I go 5 over.

Yea right. It does make a good touring bike, LOL
Funny thing. In 22,000 miles I've never done a burn out or a drag race.

This cracks me up Bad in Black, our southern border is a stinkin sieve, we got gangs, guns and drugs everywhere, we got a lunatic pervert kidnapping an 11 year old girl and fathering two children with her while locked up in the backyard....I could go on and on and these cops have nothing better to do than hide in the bushes and bust somebody for 5 over the speed limit? Only in America!

Yep Kruzster you have a good point....I'm guessing maybe the cops are turning to easy tickets for more revenue for the counties, rather than solving crimes that don't make as much money as quickly? Whatever the reason, our area seems to have gotten traffic cop thick the last few summers.....I'm having to go quite a bit farther out into the desert to have any fun at all

Hi everyone, if we are refering to the power of the zx14, no it's not necessary. But for style, comfort, and thrill, YES. One thing that ALL motorcycle manufactures have a problem with is they design their bikes for a average height of 5'10" person that weights maybe a buck fifty. Sometimes people are left with very little choices as to what they can afford or even fit on. I'm 6'7" and with my gear 300lbs. do you think a zx6 is gonna be any comfortable or have enough power to get my big butt out of the way in a hurry if needed. I doubt it. So the question becomes relative? All I will say is if anybody thinks this bike is Not necessary is gonna miss out on a true legend.
