RE: wha' happen?

Welcome! Let's get this thing up and running!
02/02/09 1:13 PM

(Current site stats are here)

This forum was opened on February 2, 2009 as a possible replacement for the defunct zx14ninja.com. It is NOT operated by the same people, we have no access to the people who were involved with the zx14ninja.com forum, and we have no access to the old content (except what we may be able to get out of Google cache).

This forum was created by a member of the old zx14ninja.com forum. It is NOT a for-profit venture, but rather a labor of love.

If we can get the members of old zx14ninja.com here somehow or other, maybe we can get our community up and running again.

There will be NO problems with this forum going away -- EVER. It is NOT dependent on any commercial entity. It is hosted by Paragon, a website developer in Western Colorado, whose owner (me) has enjoyed a 2007 ZX-14 for almost a year. (Actually, my sons gave it to me last Father's Day.) Paragon is a professional website development and web programming firm, and we host many websites on servers collocated in Denver, Colorado. If you're ever in Grand Junction, Colorado, stop by and say hi.

We've set this up so far to mimic the old forum and added a few new topics, some at the suggestion of new members here. Let us know if there is another topic you would like to see. It's easy to add new topics.

So if anybody has any suggestions, please let them fly.

I think the forums software we are using here is much cleaner that the other ZX-14 forums. I know that I'm frustrated by the bikeland.org forums because it is difficult to tell where quoted text is, where new text is, and where signatures are. It's all sort of run in together, and it takes some effort to sort it all out.

Not to mention that they seem to put a lock on a thread any time they want to, to stop any discussion they don't like. There will be none of that horsepuckey here... Your messages and your membership will not be messed with in any way.

If this site seems like it has some promise, please encourage others you know from zx14ninja.com to join us. It will take some time and effort, but I think we can rebuild what we lost.

Enjoy! -bg

I picked up immediately on the fact that this forum was special. It was void of regulation (censorship.) I saw that BG wanted to create a site for himself and everyone to enjoy, but he didn't want to be in a position to decide what's appropriate and what's not. I can respect that. Without regulation we have anarchy. I've always liked the concept of anarchy because I believe in the inherent goodness of people. Anarchy relies on self restraint. But, lets face it... we're a bunch of big kids with big toys. And kids love to cut each other down!
On most other forums that abusive input would have been nipped in the bud. I don't want to be "the heat" but I finally had to voice my objections, as did BG.
BG, all you did was sweep up the ashes. There is no "FAULT" involved. I'm glad you got rid of those particular threads.
If anything is keeping Hub from returning it's probably embarassment.

this site have to many dumbasses to share info with..
C'mon Hub...you know most people didn't understand your unique information delivery system anyway! I however have benefited from your knowledge cause I ordered the decoder ring!
Anyone else who wants to order the decoder ring just e-mail hubsok@yomama.com

Monster!Kruz-ya'll are still there!Yes-come back now-one big happy fleet!(I'm not trashing Hub-I'm one of the "dumbasses" he spoke about). If he doesn't want to be taking shots-then he needs to not be the shooter first. And I KNOW he's smart enough and big enough to see that it's really in fun-think I'm the only one who clowned him about his bike? There's people on here have made fun of my bike-so what?I'm gonna run off every time that happens-I don't think so.Hub's welcome here anytime he wants to be here-but he shouldn't be calling people "dumbasses" if he wants a royal welcome!!!

How does it go "run and Hide if you can't win or if things don't go your way, pack it in" We all know people like this. This is not the time to take your ball and RUN home. bgordon; If someone is foolish enough to embarrass themselves with childish online activity, it should remain to haunt them as a mark on their permanent record. Sometimes people get carried away, and forget this stuff is there for anyone to read for a VERY long time. I think you did them a favor in deleting the posts, whether they know it or not.

Honestly BG I have to agree with Sharky and his ideal of anarchy. I feel almost anything should be allowed, up to the point of somebody threatening and/or actually harming another. Who really cares what anybody says? I go back to what I've said before. If a thread offends you, simply don't read it. Sometimes getting ugly has a good outcome. My deal with James finished to my favor. He returned my parts. No hard feelings on my behalf. I'll do my best to get people to do a little research on the owner of another forum before they buy into his B.S. advise. Shoot, Bud and I used to get on the war wagon when John, and others, would post about bikes, other than the 14, in the "General" ZX 14 section. Bud and I even got to you when we purposely started posting about Windows Vista in one of John's threads to get my point across. I joined this forum # 1 because I liked the simple, easy to read, style you used to set it up. With an EXTREMLY close second being just what you said in what I'll call your mission statement. And from the above post I think even 1Bad, A.K.A. "badzx14r" agrees, LOL!!

Sorry, I'm rambling. To answer you, what is done is done. I don't see any point putting the threads back now. I just hate that it might have cost us some very valuable members!!!!!!

A Ha the truth of the matter comes out in the continuing saga of as the 14 turns or as the rear tire burns. I would say to BG that maybe warn others before the thread just disappears I have seen a few other things just disappear from here and find it a little heavy handed and secretive. As far as Hub I don't useally decode his stuff but if others want to good for them. Maybe you could share the moderator/editor duties with others or?

Philness said"I just hate that it may have cost us some valuable members"-I say-It's THEIR loss, not ours!!!!believe this-it's gonna be hard to find a forum out there with as much tolerance as this one has shown.I say-mess with the bull-get the horns! NOBODY told ANYBODY to leave-or stop any kind of shit slinging. When a few "non-conformists" spoke up and said their thoughts-WOOHOO-those "valuable members" flew the coop baby!Do I want em to participate again-hell yeah-but I'm gonna fire back if I start getting arrows in my ass. And I was glad to see Kruz and Monster post up again.I hope they got their situation worked out for their benefit. And I have actually gone back myself and deleted stuff(especially with the last blowup)that I thought better of after cooling down some.I've never seen bgordon delete any thing that was posted. If he said he did-well,I think his judgement on what's REALLY appropriate is good enough. He only did it after "they"(whoever that was) were gone.Sometimes people do look back and think"What the hell was I doing?"I know I did. It's easy to say things in the heat of the moment that actually cut someone personally-that's NOT what I'm about.

I think it would be better to value our members and there contrabution to this forum ahead of someone joining up to maximise there bussiness opportunities. If anyone should be band or gone it should be the carpet baggers and salesmen. The forum is for people who are into bikes as a rider, gaddgets and all sorts of tec stuff that goes with them.

Loyalty to our own should come first, and anyone joining should be like minded, one of us , not a bussinessman looking for a opportunity.

Or this will happen again

I've been part of many different forums, and they are great places to get info and build virtual friendships. The thing that I've noticed is if no one posts then the forum will die. We need everyone to contribute and participate, that is the only way to grow this place. If people want to sale things, I have no problem with that. Just be aware that others WILL leave feedback about your product. I've read the posts that is mention above and I must admit some of the things said did make me laugh. However, you only beat a dead horse for so long before it starts to stink(I feel Hubbish with that analogy). I would hate for a new member to join and read those post and decide that this is not the place for him/her. I had a zrx1100 before the 14 and I really enjoyed the bike and the mods that I did to it. But most of all it was the zrxao forum that really kept me interested in the bike and gave me the knowledge to carry out those mods. I'm hoping to find a forum like that for the 14. Just my 2 cent.

Well I'm glad we're all here. This is the only forum I've ever really "belonged" to-since I got my 14 in Jan 07.Course the date will be different cause the old forum shut down. It's a good forum-all kinds of riders on here.Lots of ideas and what does and doesn't work.Hey-when I ride-I'm consistently breaking the law(not boasting about that either-it's just so easy to do-ya'll know about that).I go fast(when safe)-love big curves and sweepers and canyons. There's LOTS of that here.I usually ride alone cause I push myself pretty hard.I think I'm a conscientious rider-but I like to get on it when there's no other vehicles on the road.Just me and my sportbike.I do as much maintenance on my ride as I can.No engine stuff-but everything else-I can pretty much do without screwing things up.I've installed all my add-ons.Set my own suspension.Customized my bike for my comfort.Learned a lot of things about my bike because I was willing to do it-just so I'd know it was "done right".I've had virtually ZERO problems so far-28,800 miles.I don't sit around and wait for someone else to show up to ride.I don't think anyone around where I live(the bikers)really want to get out and blast-push their machines.I love to.So I've really no one to ride with-just one guy-with an 08 Busa-but he's got family so he is more involved with that.Gotten plenty of speeding tickets since I've had my bike. But things are good.I own a badass bike-the best in my opinion.I can get out early and ride all day-without havin to "do anything" like wait for another rider.I work 5 days a week-and go on my days off.Bummer the season's over again.Now-3 or four months of wanting to get out and go.It's all good.Need a new rear tire again anyway-down to the cords again.Got er all set for winter now-changed the coolant and changed and the brake fluids.New tire at the beginning of Spring this next year-and I'll be ready to roll again.Would like to get down to the Texas Mile-gear my bike, and give er a go just because. But that won't happen till my next Vacation-in late Spring. It wouldn't be worth it if I blew my bike up-so I'm not completely sure I'll do it-but it's out there. This is been the best motorcycling experience I've ever had-way surpasses the Harleys I used to have. This is a continuous learning deal-how my bike handles-runs-does what it's designed to do.Awesome motorcycle-the BEST IMO.I don't understand how ANY cyclist could NOT get a blast out of owning a 14.They used to say"if you have to ask,you don't understand(Harley guys).Yeah-I feel the same now about my big Ninja.I've never had a bike this reliable, this stable, this powerful, this smooth.Things are good-you guys here make this forum what it is.Thanks again for all the help and encouragement over the few years I've been here.Everyone ride safe and stay alive!!!!!
