Are you wondering whether God condone speeding? lol It's an interesting question of philosophy!

I have wrestled with that one quite a bit as a believer, we don't really buy these kind of bikes to go 55 mph on the freeway now do we? There is no 11th Commandment on speeding but as Christians we are all called to submit to civil authority, I believe the passage can be found in Romans. Render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's sort of thing.

I feel for ya Kruz, My last 3 encounters with the law scarred me right on the track. Got stopped 3x in a month . Thank God no tickets, first time stopped was on the R6, second time was on the 14 passing a couple of cars as soon as I passed them looked down doing 120, looked up cop just passed me lights on, and braking to turn around. Not proud of this but I RAN!!!! was doing triple the speed limit jail time for sure, impounded bike and loss of License. Can't loose my license or I'm unemployed (Virginia State Inspector & ASE Master Tech). Drove my truck for a week!!! Third time on the R6 again, on the way home from work 12hr day, tired, hungry just trying to get home. Let me go again. Next week joined Teampromotion, started doing trackdays 6 this year on the R6. The track just takes all the aggressiveness out of you. Problem is you loose the urge to ride the streets. Too many idiots out there, raises your awareness of everything around you and you realize how dangerous the street really is.
Kruz you have all the gear already. Get that ZX6 out there and see what it was meant to do. You'll LOVE IT!!!! Entry fees, gas, tires is the biggest expense. I stockpile tires like chordwood during the off season. 3 to 4 sets their really only good for 3 maybe 4 trackdays. you'll grind the edges right off the centers will be almost new . I sell my used for 1/2 price to street riders, they jump all over it kinda recoups some of the expense.

No.My point is God doesn't forgive the last act Suicide. Can't repent too late.
Craig

Craig, I don't want to turn this thread into a sermon but are you GOD?

Seriously, by your reasoning, you could have been a born again Christian your entire life and yet your last act was to cast a lustful look at a tender young lass on the side of the road (sin) and crash headlong into a garbage truck. You didn't have time to repent so you go straight to hell, do not pass go, do not collect $200. I'm not buying salvation is that arbitrary.

Look up the word "suicide" in your Bible Concordance, the word does not appear, not once, and yet people speak with authority about the subject as if they knew GOD's mind. GOD left any mention of this act out of HIS scripture yet various religious groups (i.e. Catholics) have made their own ruling on the subject.

Silver14, do you ride your ZX-14 only on track also? I'm looking into doing a couple track days and see how I like it but for me daily riding is therapy. I'm like GrnMan, look forward to jumping on one of the bikes and blasting off after a stressful day at work, all of your cares seem to melt away. Track days are going to be a once or maybe twice a month thing, what about your daily fix?

@Kruz: I know you feel like they clipped your wings but get back on the saddle and enjoy my man. The radar doesn't care if you're running "the pace" or not .

Good metaphor Dragman, I rode my 14 yesterday evening and just wasn't in to it, wind's been taken out of my sails. I think once I get this court appearance behind me and see what the outcome is going to be I'll be OK.

@Grn, you're right, it is a piddly ticket compared to what you, Rook and Drag have been through, I admit that. I guess the worst part for me was the realization that 30 mph over now get's you a trip to jail and loss of your bike. That's a game changer on the street cause we're 30 mph over almost all of the time, you almost can't help it on these bikes.

Actually Kruzerman...I was just being light...a ticket can be a game changer...they aren't fun...nope.I always feel like parking my bike after I get one(which hasn't been in quite a while now).I mean...you're right...it's VERY hard to drive the limit with these bikes...staring at the speedo yer whole ride...or what's left of it.

Yeah...those 'appearances'...I hate those.I feel for ya...it'll be okay though.

Thanks Grn, you feel very "vulnerable" after one of these episodes like there's a cop car lurking behind every bush when in reality they're not omnipresent, your mind just does that to ya. It can't be helped, went through this a couple years back when I got a ticket, almost didn't buy the ZX-6R because of it but finally said enough, I can't let them steal my joy.

BTW, I looked into PrePaid Legal, it is another scam. Lot of bad reviews on these guys, you pay your monthly fee but when you need legal assistance they either are too busy to talk to you or they refer you to another lawyer with a 25% discount. They say unlimited phone time but if you call too much they won't pick up the phone. It's probably best to find a reputable ticket defense attorney with lots of experience and pay him his fee. Worth it in the end I think because of the peace of mind.

"retaining a lawyer"....well...I guess you COULD find a decent one out there....I never really heard of this for traffic violations....guess if you plan on rollin really fast...it might be worth it?I pretty much know now where to expect Highway patrol...and in what circumstances they might be...so I just cruise ya know...open er up some...back off...cruise...I've been more fortunate than a lot of guys...they always seem to get me radared when I'm decelerating.I hit the curves...go fast, then exit onto the straights slowing down normally.Just for that reason.
Whenever I pass one and I'm over the limit,I always check for his brake lights...then pull over if there's any sign he might flip a uee. They can be pretty lenient here if ya get the right guy and aren't 'trying to justify' your speed. They'll usually write it for under the bigger penalty speed.Been that way for me anyhow.First time I got a warning...I was like...WHAT?Never had one till I came here.Had a couple since....you get a break sometimes.

Jag, should I go ahead and make the drive to Nocona, 176 miles round trip if I go up I-35 to Gainesville and then over to Nocona, then try to get Defensive Driving myself or hire a ticket attorney? Problem is it is a tiny, one horse town up there and I can't find anybody in the DFW area that represents Montague County, too far. Does the ticket attorney have to make a personal appearance or can they handle it online or by phone? The distance up there is the problem. If the JP' will give me Defensive Driving than I can do this myself, maybe $30 for gas and a day off work but if I get up there and they want to play hardball then I'm basically screwed, blued and tatooed!

BTW, I got your phone message, now out of the fetal position but just barely...lol! We need to do a ride on the liters this weekend, like Tom Cruise in TopGun, if I don't re-engage pretty soon, I never will!

Not proud of this but I RAN!!!!

lol My man!
Exactly my point?! I have always said/though that if the LE has to turn around and I'm carving triple in a sweeper I would accelerate for a while and get off that road the first chance I get. They will never do it but this law needs revising. It turns a small infraction like riding over 30 into chase which is serious business. From the looks of things Silver sounds a mature owner with a good job but he took his chances. That right there tells you the law is not adequate. No wonder most of the cops write you for 24 over because impounding bikes and jail time for 30 over will just make everybody run away.

@Kruz: Once or two times a month should suffice. You will do so much riding at close to wot that you'll park the bike home for weeks at the time, you won't be as motivated to ride the street because that kind of riding cannot be duplicated there. I know I do that after I go on three days trip (3 sisters etc). So after a weekend at the track, a couple of weeks will be no problem.

Kruz, do I have to set up a track day for you? Do it.

As far as the legal defense....there isn't much riding on this. NOt like your CDL is hanging in the balance or anything. Just listen to what your inner voice tells you and act. Then wait and see what happens, act again. Live now. This is how we get through life. Planning for what is totally unknown is futile. You broke a little law. Just go through the legal process and find where it ends you up but don't waste time worrying. Things always go exactly as they are supposed to go. "Render to Caesar what belongs to Cesar...."

Rook get his info and sign him up for track days, the 1st step of the the twelve step program lol

Prepaid Legal has been great for Me the past 6 yrs. I guess you need to do some footwork to see what Law Firm is hooked up with them in your area of Texas. We have a great one here in Western Wa. Had over 20 citations in past 3 yrs. and only one stuck. Here I have to do the discovery now, PPL supplies what you need.
I'd contact them and use their law firm to defend you on this one. Sounds like the LEO probably did his paperwork properly, so that wont be your out. But that is why you hire lawyers. They know the 'system'. You dont.
I know most all RCW's (traffic laws) here in Washington and there are many loopholes. Dont know anything about how the traffic system works in Texas. Good Luck.

Kruz I ride pretty much everyday, weather permitting. It's a therapy for me. Where I live at in SE Virginia it's pretty flat but because of all the swampland and marshes makes for some pretty interesting roads to ride on. Only the interstate is straight here. No Big Girl (14) no track for her, she's my long distance cruising bike. Altough I have been known to throw her around some curves when they present themselves! My R6 is my track weapon, Problem is with the mods I've made to my R6 for the track it's a hoot to ride on the street. Handles like it's on rails, and the engine screaming at 15k pure adrenaline, just makes you wanna ride faster, and faster ... you get it. I try to attend track days atleast every 6 weeks, most of the time once a month during the season. You will by the third trackday have a new sense of awareness on the street. What was the best thing for you will suddenly seem not so.
All you will think about is the track, how you can get better, faster, advance to the next group. Once you honestly get a knee down It's a wrap. You'll be studying track maps, practicing body positionong, later braking, get on the throttle sooner, trail braking, on and on.... I've put 3.5k on my R6 this year doing trackdays 2k on the 14. I'm 42 been riding bikes since I was 14. I've never had as much fun as a trackday. Honestly If I had to sell one sorry to say the 14 would be a gone.
As far as God in speeding, the bible tells us to obey the laws of the land. Sure we all do it, but I have learned to become concious of what the Holy Spirit is telling me. The few times that I didn't heed, I got stopped but He was gracious enough that I did'nt get busted. Just listen to that inner voice, it will never steer you wrong. As far as suicide, Jesus was whipped, beaten, made to carry His own cross, nailed on that cross, spit on, ridiculed, died. Went to hell for 3 days and arose. What we go through, no comparison.
