Jagmeister, lucky you didn't make the run with me this morning, DPS nailed me coming home. Will have to travel 200 miles to see the judge up there, not fun. BTW, the officer told me of a new Texas Law, any motorcycle clocked 30 mph over the posted limit is a mandatory arrest and night in jail. I had no idea this law had been passed, looking up the details now.

Well Cooter, he cited me for 79 in a 55 or 24 over but he made it pretty clear he was doing me a favor and I was beyond the 30 over. If your cool, pull over and are polite I don't think these guys want to haul you in and confiscate your motorcycle, just doing their job and using discretion where possible.

We all ride fast, otherwise why would we have a 200 HP bike? Maybe we should all discuss a strategy for staying point free and hopefully out of jail. I haven't found anything that is 100% fool proof but there are things you can do to greatly limit your exposure. One thing is avoid going fast in a straight line, especially on the motorway, they can see you on radar long before you see them. Another strategy is to use speed in very short bursts to limit exposure and then back down to the limit.

Yesterday I was on a very fast twisty road, Jagmeister knows the one, I was on the gas and into triple digits for 16 miles, if a cop is coming from the opposite direction, you're getting busted! The thought is that you are out in the middle of nowhere and there is no LEO around when in reality, folks live out there and have telephones. As soon as they call DPS you have troopers converging from all points. There's another rule, don't hit the same area too often and don't stick around. I was out to that same area four weekends straight, it was like a hornet's nest.

Has anybody ever used Prepaid Legal, pay a monthly fee and they will fight your traffic tickets for you? I was talking to a guy yesterday that swears by 'em but don't really know for sure.

Bummer Bummer Bummer...Short of a crash, (and there's obviously a big difference) that's the biggest BUMMER. You kind of realize that something you love to do has been taken away from you to some degree. I know you can still ride but you may have to ride the Honda cruiser for a while. I can assure you though it will make me slow down. If that new law is in effect, I will be extra careful. Funny thing is I've never seen DPS out on those roads in any significant way. I would definitely find one of the moving violation ticket lawyers though and send him the $50 to handle before I'd ride out there to appear before the judge. That is assuming they have them out there. The whole community may have had enough of us riding through their communities. In some ways, I get it. I have had several tickets dismissed or ajudicated though, my most recent one on the 14R on 377 in Roanoke, 69 in a 50. Let's go ahead now and get our track days lined up. Only real safe place to use the bikes for what they are intended.

Check the truck driver mags.I was a trucker and paid for the service.They turned a following too close to a cracked headlight in Ohio.Was worth the money,no points.Would of been 3 pts.A car saw the cop and dove in front of my truck,lights come on and I get a ticket.Car was speeding I wasn't and I get busted.I hated driving threw Ohio.

I hadn't either, guaranteed, one of the locals called it in. I had made a pass down our favorite stretch and came back for some lunch. I had a creepy vibe while I was in the Lazy Heart, some of the locals at another table kept looking over my way. Ok, I'm dressed like something out of Star Wars but surely they've seen a sportbiker before? Am I being paranoid? Don't know but shortly after I snapped that pic above, I headed home and ran headlong into two State Troopers on the road just south of St Jo, couldn't have been a coincidence.

My traffic attorney was unable to do anything in the courtroom. Mighta got me a little break off the record without telling me (sometimes I think the officials cut you a break and do not tell you so that they don't get a rep for being soft or so that others will not anticipate a braek like you got....or maybe they do not wish there to be any evidence, heresay or otherwise, that they gave you a break cuz they aren't supposed to give breaks...IDK).

if you get out of this clean, I would consider doing prepaid legal....check it out, prolly depends a lot on where you get busted. Not to successful in small towns, I'll bet.

First one I talked to charged me 200. Second one LIVED in the town I got busted and WAS the D.A. at one time. $750.00 and could have tacked on a few hundered more easily if he was not such a nice fella.

I hated driving threw Ohio.

Cheer up Kruzer...if I can come back from my BIG bummer ticket, So Can you. Give it a couple months over the winter and you'll be back 100%.

You give up your bikes when YOU'RE ready. You really should do a track day or better yet, a training day. Try it once and you will know if it will satisfy your speed craving. I think it will. you can still do your street sport riding but you won't feel as bad of an itch. NOT so much reason to take chances on the street if you are doing your best riding at the track.

I've hired two ticket lawyers in the past and the results ranged from poor to disastrous. I actually had one fail to appear at court, just plain didn't show up and I didn't know it until I received a message a warrant had been issued for my arrest. They are not going to do much of anything for $50, trust me, I've been there.

When I was 20 I got busted on my Z-1.125 in a 35,running from the cops and possesion of pot.They threw me on their hood and arrested me.Got a 200 dollar fine and probation for a year.The Air Force was not amuzed either.They arrested me as soon as I got back on base.I ended out getting out of the service because I lost my security clearance to work on planes.Those cops chased me from a dead stop on a straight road only 1/2 mile long.Was trying to get on the base.But they had those old 440 Furys.I had a 68 GTX so I know about those 440's.

I've gotten speeding tickets all over the country. It's always depressing for a while (like a day or so) but I figure fuck it, pay up and move on. The main thing is to keep them off your insurance agent's radar. That ends up costing ten times as much as the ticket(s), so sometimes you have to lawyer up and get things smoothed out. I've gotten them in Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Indiana and of course (several) in Illinois. All the times I've severely broken speed limits, I think a few tickets are worth it. Last time, my radar detector disconnected itself and I blew past a plain wrapper doing 80 in a 55. Anyone who buys a 186-mph motorcycle and does the speed limit is wasting their time and money.

The clone stamp tool in PhotoShop works wonders if you zoom in enough!!! LOL Yes, I used the clone stamp to alter all the pertinent info to protect the innocent LOL Now who ever said,

The cop was prolly shooting me for ~15 seconds from up on that overpass. He and I both knew I was going faster but I suspect he really didn't thinlk I deservrd to get hauled in and impounded bike. I know he coulda got me for 120 and that mighta been a "go straight to jail" card.

I got to keep my bike and I paid the whole fine + attorney fees and prolly court costs. The judge rolled his eyes when he read over the court document. Expensive lesson.

IOW, you were operating a motor vehicle like the other 3 or 4 law abiding motorists in TX. lol
