Man you were lucky, if no one had seen you go into that ravine, you could have died down there. I've heard of that happening more than once. One guy hit a deer and split in two. He went off into a deep ditch and died there, they didn't find him for almost a week. The good news is hang in there, it gets better. I was in despair a few months ago but rode my 14 yesterday and have been riding my cruiser for about two weeks. Going to try one of the Literbikes this afternoon. This is a milestone as I was contemplating giving up riding after my accident. Big part of this is making sense of why you went down so you learn something. I've had three months to mull over my crash and I think I figured it out now.

This thread should be separated into two parts-the original title "Has anyone lost someone on a ride?" and the tangent- "I crashed and got hurt but I'm still alive" or whatever title the injured guys want to put out there.

YEEEEOOOW, GEEZ! That's a helluva lotta staples!! Glad you survived, fj40!
But yeah your post should probably be in a thread title "Has Anyone Almost Lost Themself On a Ride?" ... and then you, bean07, Kruz and a few others lately can post there.

I could post a pic of the scar they made putting a plate and six screws in my pelvis, but I'd have to shave the pubes again.

Yeah, uuuuuh, that's OK
I've got a big non-bike related scar way up high on my outer thigh ... and I don't even go around showing people that.
"A picture is worth 1,000 words", and in cases like yours and mine that would be at least 1,000 words too many.

Sorry to be flippant, but having actually lost a friend on a ride, I wish he were here posting pics of his scars.
A friend saw me limping down the aisles of his lumberyard hardware store the other day and, knowing me, he asked if the limp was from a motorcycle crash. I had to admit it's just an ever-tightening achilles tendon from sitting on my ass too much, a combination of laziness and old age. All the stupid shit I've done on motorcycles has resulted in little more than seasonal aches. Blind, dumb luck will do when all else fails.

Probably most important is do we come back from these accidents, mentally as well as physically? I took my ZX-10R out yesterday and although I could ride it, I have to say I'm a long way from coming back up to speed. I just don't have the confidence to load up the tires anymore. I'll take the ZX-6R out this afternoon but I'm riding with a lot of trepidation. I may come back and maybe not. I'll probably wait until the spring and then make a decision whether I keep my sportbikes or sell them and keep the cruiser. Kind of a crossroads moment in my life.

Give it another month or two, my right foot was numb but now feeling is coming back slowly. Time heals all wounds but there may be some residual effects, a new normal as I see it.
