Nothin' y'all haven't seen before, but here are some pics ... oh and thanks again for all the help! The case works great. I can leave my helmet, jacket, gloves, a t-shirt, etc in it. I do feel a little windy blow around going on, but not bad at all, just a touch.

Which case is that?

Which case is that?

Black/Black Carbon Givi V47 Tech Monokey Top Case from Revilla ($292.50)

It's very nice. Very good quality. Comes with a spare key without the plastic on it, so it's flatter and fits better in your wallet. The case's lid can be closed while the lock is locked, so I'm assuming plenty of guys accidentally locked their keys in it

So the case requires just 1 key, and one 90-degree turn of the lock both locks the lid and locks the case onto the mount.

Thanks BigSarg! That's great! If you get time, would you consider snapping a close-up or two of how you modified your seat cowl cover?

I modified the seat cowl and the end cap as well with a dermal. I've use other methods in the past to cut plastics, but for my money a dermal is the best tool to use. I use the dermal to both cut it and then fine tune it with one of the sanding wheels.

And a case of beer and a couple bags of ice will make it a little wonky in the tighter turns.

Now that you've got it installed, would you have chosen the bigger case? will two helmets fit?

I'm 100% content with it right now ... but then I've only ridden about 40 in-town miles with it on so far, so prob too soon to really tell ... but there is a heckuva a lotta room in the V47. I placed my full-face Arai RX-Q DNA helmet in it, and it's obvious there's room for a 2nd helmet. In the other side I placed my jacket (folded up), gloves, etc. If you put 2 helmets in it, you'll probably only get gloves and a couple other small things in it, but the helmets are gonna eat up most of the space ... but ... you could put some of the small things inside the helmet itself, like gloves or a t-shirt.

I also like the looks of the V47. Every other case looks, I dunno, more blobby, to me. (grandfatherly ) So while "Form follows function", I had to compromise and bring form a little closer to function and go with the 47 over say the 55.

I'm looking at the V56NT MAXIA 4 56L case only because I don't want to wish I'd have gotten a case with more space! I am concerned that it will be as goofy looking as the stock cans when I put it up there. I'm wondering how much bigger it actually is VISUALLY compared to the V47. I'm trying to convince myself I don't need a case that damn big!

**looking at the pix again....V47 Is going to have to be enough - any bigger and small children will want to ride back there!

Yeah, total judgment call. Once there's a big blob back there, does it really matter how big that blob is?

My friends are already calling mine a dingle berry.

As far as mods go, and trying to follow the instructions provided, this was a cinch; no problems at all. Order the stuff below (pasted from my earlier post) and there's nothing to have to customize or tweak or adjust or fabricate. It all just fits correctly. And it's excellent quality.

- Top Case

- Alu-Rack (SW-MOTECH Alu-Rack Toprack to fit TraX, Givi & Other Topcases for Kawasaki ZX14R Ninja '06-'14 & ZZR1400 '06-'14) ($194.95) with Givi/Kappa Monokey Adapter ($41.95)

- 2013 Kawasaki OEM white replacement tail piece part number 36040-0059-25Y ($49.49).

Of course you'll want to get the correct color tail piece for your bike. Or you could just cut your current one, but since I didn't do that I don't know any details about it.

Good luck! Post pics when done ...

Givi changed the design of the Trunks, more angular and probably integrates the lighting features better.
I have the old style V47 Monokey trunk. 2 large helmets fit laying on their sides. My Trunk had a Red storage tray
in the lid that took about an inch space and I removed it.
I've seen some trunks lined with felt, a nice touch.
Monokey luggage is stronger than Monolock.
When I ordered my Givi V35 side bags I found an extra keyed/lockset. Now all 3 pieces are keyed the same.
Get at least a V46 Trunk. The Height measurement is important for your helmets.
With a Trunk you can see it in your mirrors and it is shorter than you on the Bike. Your passenger will appreciate having added security. If you travel with a duffle the Trunk stops it. Split lanes with a trunk.
Lots of advantages with a Trunk. Later, get the side cases if you travel for more than a week, especially, if you have a passenger.
ZX14 Ninja with any type of luggage is a rare feature, more unique.
I have not seen another ZX14 Ninja in Denver area with my setup-one of a kind!
I like it that way.
Blaze a new trail.

I think all you need to do to make it look integrated (and potentially better IMO) is paint the tailbox white. You don't even have to paint the entire box. If the metal colored trim comes off, you can paint that white and you're set!

My helmet fits standing upright. No need to lay it on its side ... just FYI.

And I can just barely-barely-barely see the edge of the top case in my mirrors.

2 helmets need to be laid on their side in my V46.
Personally, I would leave off the White seat cowl with the Trunk in place. The seat cowl looks best with the Bike naked.
Don't paint your Trunk. It's going to get nicked and dirty eventually. Don't Make your Bike too White. Black side Fins blend into Black seat to Black trunk.
Throw on those new Carbon mufflers, lets get riding!

HMM ... since I did only put my one helmet in my V47 top case, I decided to look online for pics, and found the following mixed signals

I guess it doesn't matter much since they're gonna either bump each other, or lay on the floor of the top case. I'm keeping a hand towel in my top case to wrap the helmet, or for anything else for that matter. Yeah, I'm a lil picky. Why generate avoidable scratches?

I tried a backpack also and hated it. With a givi trunk I can carry my work bag, rain gear etc, in comfort.

This is the givi monocase e360 40 liter. It is wired in and I really like the extra brake lighting and turn signals in back.

Looks like you had a better day up there than we did last Labor Day. It was 80F when we left Idaho Springs. By the time we got up top, it was 34F with high winds and snow flurries. They closed the road the next day for repairs.

Couldn't remember the names Twisted Throttle or SW Mototech so searched this site again and stumbled upon this old thread ... I've now got ~16K miles on my '13 ZX, and prob all of those miles except the ~2K-mile Blue Ridge Parkway trip have been with the 47-liter top case only ... love it. Works great. When we stop for lunch or wherever, I pop my helmet, jacket and gloves in it, and they're locked up out of sight, reasonably safe, and out of the sun / rain. I keep a lightweight bag in the top case too that has a bunch of little odds and ends, so when I add the helmet / jacket / gloves, it's pretty tight in there, but I make it fit ... just like packing a suitcase for a long flight
