Congratulations did you get the blue?

Thanks COOTS. Yup, blue rims with Bridgeport silver 90 degree valves. Might get a set of Power Ones on them. For when Summer is at it's peak.

I was thinking something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Yana-Shiki-A2862BU-Anodized-Handlebar/dp/B005TIRDJO

that wouldn't work with the 14 because I need the stock clip on bolts to mount the HyperPro damper---Right?

I dunno... My Scotts mounts differently and would still work fine.

Plus we have the contol pods w/directional light switch, horn, engine kill, etc....those need OEM bars, no?

No... You just either have to modify the pods (clip alignment pins) or drill the aftermarket bars.

Also what would happen to the ignition which is molded into the OEM casting that the bars go into??

That's in the triple clamp... will still be there. Aftermarkets I've seen have it too.

Look pretty rough with just the tops of the bars poking up , hey? Little too track bike for a NOT track bike? What's your opinion?

Now that's the issue I have with aftermarket clip-ons for the zx14. Since the stockers bolt directly to the top of the triple clamp, and the aftermarkets clamp on (leaving those mounting holes unused), they'd look like shit, IMO.

What do you think of this?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZX14-ZX14R-06-09-UPPER-TRIPLE-TREE-BLUE-TC32AA-/110645322818?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories

Looks nice... Would look better w/o the engraving, IMO... But Pit-Eck has a spotted rep as far as quality.

R1 monoblocks were one of the first mods I did on the 750.

Figured you'd already done something about the stock binders.

Yep, not the same as the $4K set that Brembo has but a lot better than most Tokico/ Nissin binders

Or the Gixxer "Brembos" for that matter.

well, she did say "approximately." i will have to call. I'm really not worried. Riding season is upon us though. 60 F today! RAIN and warm temps next 3 days then temps in the 50s. I'd say that sounds like the first day of riding to me.

The busa will be out of the gate first this year. Too much junk that needs to go on the 14 to put skins back on already.

They said there was an update to the order. The rims were still on backorder as of (&*&$&&(can't remeber what the date was---who caresa s long as I get my rims soon). So the 58cycle guy was gonna call Carro and ask about them. Said they should be shipping very soon.

That's cool as long as there is no mistake and I get my rims. I knew itwas going to take a while.

I gave my first name and mention only that I had ordered wheels. Offered the order # but the guy knew whpo I was. I'm a celebrity at 58cycle-- ...or they are familiar with thge order for some other reason which mat not be a good sign. NO i think it's all good.

so, what kind of scale should I get to weigh these puppies? My postal scale only goes to 25 lbs. That might work for the front but maybe not the back.

Bit of a head scratcher here Rook. Only goes to 25lbs WTF ?? If the back weighs in at more than 25 lbs send it back lol.

Both rims should be under that, No ?

LOL that's like saying, I'm so poor I will have to vacation in Bermuda this year instead of the Bahamas!
haha good for you, glad they swap over! That's awesome that Kawi did that for us.

? We'll see. It's been a while since I looked at the estimates. I'm sure the rear OEM wheel is over 25, isn't it? I will need to weigh the OEMs too.

Glad for ya Rook! They look great and I hear the better handling is something to experience.
I don't think you'd have liked the silver though I've never seen them in person. The silver has a machined finish that I've never liked personally.
Don't worry, they'll get here. Not like waiting for my $7 rebate to come from Pennzoil.....TWO rebates for that matter! Got me all stressed out!
And stop makin' me feel cheap. Only plans I have right now for my bike is some Clear Alternatives smoked tail light and turn lenses and maybe a black gas cap.

Thanks for your enthusiasm, Romes. That makes this twice as much fun! I was up late but no little yellow and white sticky on the door. He'll be 'round in a couple hours. I'm leaving a note for Santa to check in the garage if no answer at the door.

Congratulations did you get the blue?

DID I EVER! Nice. Darker in color but saturated blue, not blackish. Extremely close match to the PAzzo levers and Hyperpro damper.

....just one small imperfection on the front. Looks like a light a soft silver spot where some substance resisted the anodizing. I'm not going to complain at all. The spot is the size of a pea and way in there on the hub. Over all, they look like very nice quality. Not as light as I was envisioning but the scale doesn't lie.

Here is the front. Rim, Two CZ 13" rotors, bearings, all bolts, everything bolted up, ready to install. No wheel spacers as they are on the bike now. I imagine they will get used to install the Carros so the spacer weight is a mute point like the axle, no?

12 lbs, 4 and a half oz

how do I compare?

front with spacers and no rotors is 11.6 lbs

I am estimating that the 2 rotors weigh about 5 lbs if they are steel. My 45 T alum sprocket is 1.4

am I going to have to take these rotors off?

rear with carrier, bearings, no sprocket, no rotor.

BST is 11 lb, 1 oz for the same.

same as above with 45T aluminum AFAM sprocket. Still no rotor. Guess I am going to have to get a rear rotor.

This really brings home why it is so friggin mysterious as to the exact weight of all of the this crap.

Somebody give some input here.

now I'm dyeing.

From Shane's post at my BL thread, looks to me like the Tri-Rs are about 1 lb heavier (by my estimation) than BSTs.

BST's are all about the weight. So, let's see what they weigh:

Front, with spacers:

6 lbs. 1 oz.

Add 4-5 for rotors you got 10-11 lbs full weight front BST
Tri-R, 12 lb, 4.5 oz

Total rear, with sprocket carrier: 11 lbs. 1 oz.

BST is 11 lb, 1 oz
I have 12 lb, 6 oz

you guys with carrazeria V-star post if you have comparable weight info.

I will be taking the rotors off the front to weigh. We need just the parts that MUST be there to function. Rotors and sprockets can be changed. You need a rim a sprocket carrier and bearings. That is what wheel weight should be but that would be too simple and straightforward for wheel manufacturers, I guess.

1-lb Heavier,,,,, That's a wow $$$$$$$$$. Rook that is flipping Awesome, Especially when you consider Front rotors are included,,,,SWEEEEEET

am I going to have to take these rotors off?

Why, whats wrong with them ?

Somebody give some input here. now I'm dyeing.

Ok, you won the lottery. You just came with in 1lb of the most expensive Rims on the planet at a fraction of the cost with front Rotors included. It's party time. Wait till you try, your suspension will be thanking you and behave totally diff. Congrats.

Now weigh your old with rubber complete, then weigh new.
