Hey big guy I can understand you're complaints....I also like a bike that gives me the power when I want it, and as much or as little as I want Thats the main advantage of bigger engines, you get predictable smoother power across the rev range. The liters can make almost the same peak power, which is fine for a racetrack, but on the street you can feel the diff in the way they deliver the power bigtime. From here on out I'll always own big engined bikes because they suit me the best. I'm like you, I don't want to keep a bike screaming all the time to get my adrenaline fix. And big engines wind up and sound less stressed, much more pleasant for street riding imo. It sounds like you just may be a big-engine kinda guy

^^I'm pretty sure there is a smaller bike in my future. Might be a few years but a 750 just seems like it would be too much fun to not experience.

I think you nailed it right on the head Bad, I bought into all the liter hysteria hype. At wide open throttle I think they are as fast as a 14 but at partial throttle openings where we ride on the street all the time they come up lacking.
I almost never wind my 14 up to full chat just because I don't need to. I can break every speed limit in the country by 200% without the old girl ever breaking a sweat. The liter will do the same thing but sounds like it's working pretty hard.
The more saddle time I get on these two bikes, the more the differences crystalize for me. I may be asking the liter to do something it can't ever do which is to deliver smooth big block power...anytime...anywhere.

I started out my street riding on small 2-stroke twins and triples, all the way up to the kawi 750 triple. Throw in all the 2 stroke dirt bikes, and small to medium sized 4-strokes before my current big-bores, and I did lots of high rpm ridng. I enjoyed the heck outta it....but as the bikes I rode got bigger, and the engines offered more low end and smoother power across the board, thats what I started liking.....alot lol. Its hard to match the flickability of a small light bike in the corners, but for my style of riding the 14 and busa offer all the agility I need

I just heard a rumour that FuelMoto maps are straight off the DynoJet site, same thing....tell me it ain't so?? Anyone else heard this?

Great read guys. As far as fuel Moto Maps are concerned ........ I have bought four PC-3 from them. Two for ZX-14. One for Victory Vegas and one for M-109R. After the installs I did the map compares.. They are not exactly the same as Dynojets, but........? My mom told me if you don't have anything good to say don't say ...... Maybe they do make there own but I have not been lucky enough to see one (the odd cell change is not custom,or is it ?).In there defense that was in 2007-2008 and as a vendor they were easy to deal with. Ivan's Maps look nothing like Dynojets and you can tell allot more work went into making them. I hope this helps . Cheers.

Amen bro, especially part about the work that went into Ivan's maps....I been saying that for a long time. The first time I rode one I knew this was something special, he just doesn't get the credit he deserves because his map does not give the big peak HP numbers like Brock's. Ride one on the street though and you will be convinced...too bad he got fed up and never developed anything for the '08/'09. I may have to trailer my CBR up to NewYork and let him tune it. It would be worth the trip.

Too bad about the FuelMoto maps, I was hoping for some extra TLC in there. My understanding is that it is very easy to make a one dimensional map that makes big HP and torque numbers at 100% power, i.e. dragracing map, but to make a smooth, rideable street map takes lots of time, patience and knowledge. I believe it!

Sunday morning was unseasonably cool here early in the morning, high 60's. I took the CBR out and what a difference the cool weather made in the tune. She flat ripped azzz and the throttle response was much crisper, also the decel popping on throttle rolloff was history, a whole different animal. I think I was dead nutz on when I said the DynoJet maps are way on the rich side and should perform better the colder it gets. Looks like I'm going to have to spring 300 clams for a dyno tune, may wait until spring though cause I think this map will work better and better the colder it gets.

Anyone else would have posted a cry out for a different map.

I did, thanx rook. The Fuelmoto map is different than the stock M125-006 from Dyno Jet. Interstingly they call it M125-Fullsystem. Could be they took the 006 and tweeked it. It appears to follow the same basic curve as the 006 but leaner almost everywhere which is good cause I already figured out the 006 was blubbering rich. Maximum difference is about 7%. I'll let you know how this puppy runs.

So far, the new FuelMoto map seems to have made a big difference on the CBR, I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, the bike just feels much happier now.Part throttle response felt stronger and smoother and the torque dip at 4000 rpm is smoothed out considerably. Coming off the line is a much more pleasant experience now as the bike seems to pull cleanly from right off idle. Midrange vibrations at 5 to 7K felt much smoother and I experienced no more decel popping when rolling off the throttle. I didn't notice any real difference in topend power under WOT conditions which makes sense since the fuel curves at 80% and 100% throttle appear to be very close between the old and new maps, just a little leaner. I rode less than 30 miles last night so I need to get some more mileage on it to be able to make a really good comparison. So far, fuel Moto gets high marks for this map, the big changes seem to be down low where it really needed the help and where we do most of our riding.

Its good to hear that Fuel-Moto's maps are good customized maps, and not the same old dj maps that come on the free cd. If a map runs clean, smooth, and strong all through the rev range, and I get the kinda mileage I should be for my mods, I'm happy....no need for a custom map for me to get that last few % of performance

Bad, here is the Fuel Moto Map and the DJ maps for the Yoshimura RS-5 Full system from idle to 5000 rpm (area that needed most help). I have selected difference mode so you can see how each cell differs in %. Not huge changes but different in almost every cell so this is indeed a customized map and not just a DJ ripoff. I will get the CBR out tomorrow and ride the wheels off it and let you know what the final verdict is. Seems much improved by the short ride I took Wednesay evening.

LOL you guys finally got around to believing the Fuel Moto maps are the result of them dynotuning different year ZX14s with different exhausts and therefore good custom maps.

Which Fuel Moto emailed me about long ago when I asked about running a PC5 on my 08 14 with a Brock's CT-Dual or Muzzy M14. And which I posted here near the front of the thread.

Like I said before, since Fuel Moto is concerned about their reputation, they wouldn't say they developed the maps on their dyno for specific applications unless they really did.

The real question is, how does a Fuel Moto map perform in comparison to a Brocks map in comparison to a Muzzy map (good luck getting a PC5 map for an 08 14 from Muzzy though, unless they have since seen the light) ?

Yep Big K they did lots of fine tuning on that map in the 5k and below range....thats good to see. Will make me alot more comfy picking up a pc and mapping from them down the road. If its running good and getting good mileage for the mods, you may not need to worry about a dyno tune, unless you can find someone who you can trust to do better

Fuel Moto claims that if you buy a PCV from them that you will get free map support anytime you need it but I tried for three months to get a map for a Muzzy exhaust and flys out and the scum bag would never send it. I finally told him to stick it where the sun don't shine and went elsewhere for the map. They claim all their maps are done in house on their own dyno. I know the map they originally sent me for a stock bike and no flys worked very well.

^^Don't know, DEK. It took several phone calls after the initial map request but it finally was sent. I know how you feel when it seems like someone is playing you but they do say on there site "don't call us bitching because you didn't get your free map." It may be thay they don't have a map for your Muzzy and they just don't want to admit it. I'd keep trying. They forgot who you were by now. Fill out a request form online and call if it doesn't come in 72 hours. Then just keep calling. You might try asking them to send to another email adress by a different provider. That's how i got mine because it didn't seem to be getting to the adress i was telling them to send it to. Wasn't in my SPAM folder either.

Or it may be they are so busy they are working 10 hours a day, and when some whiny kid calls and flames on them about the map he just has to have right freaking now, they just tune him out.

I guarentee you when I ask Fuel Moto for a new map it will be here soon enough. But I'll be courteous when asking.

I did get a chance to get out and ride the CBR this weekend and the Fuelmoto is a much better map than the DynoJet. All of my original impressions were confirmed, torque dip at 4000 much improved, very smooth linear power from 6000 rpm to the redline, much lower vibration levels and very good topend pull, not willing to say better than my 14 but close. I noticed the top gear rollons felt much stronger. Good stuff, bottom line is I can live with this map. Big B you may be right, a custom map might not add much or may even be not as good depending on who does the mapping.
