Yes busted, indeed. It had to be done. I have mentioned it here and there. Didn't plan to keep it a secret from you guys....just don't tell my ex.

No plans to let go of the 14. That's going to be the main beast. Actually sat and second thought the new bike purchase after looking at the 14 one night. It is better looking. There is always something a little different and exciting when i look real close at the busa though. I see it has a stock rock guard on the bottom radiator or oil cooler or whatever that thing is. Lot's of stuff like that.

Yeah, it's true - almost. I have a thousand bucks in it and am waiting for the stealer to re-replace the OEM hand grips and bar ends because they have some fancy chromes on there that i don't go for much. I told him I'd keep the rainbow lights for kicks. Hey, the lights were free! It also had an F'd up chrome pitchfork emblem stuck to the front fender. Glad they took that off. The bike was brought in from out of state.

I think the dealer violated the two first rules to sales. #1 give the buyer what they expect and #2 provide a flawless presentation. Obviously I did not expect the appearance mods and this raised a smattering of unease in me. Also, the gas tank and windscreen was covered with minute scratches which could have easily been buffed out before i viewed the bike. That raised a more concern. I mean, this is supposed to be a brand new bike!

I started to worry that the bike was used and that the odo had been replaced. After looking it over even closer today, I can see no signs of rock strikes to radiator or gravel in fairings. The pipes are cleaner inside than my kitchen table (most of the time).

One thing, the oil is transparent but it is darker than I think it should be with bike having only 3 miles. Didn't I once read here somewhere that oil discolors more rapidly from burning anti-corrosives inside a fresh engine? I hope so or I will have to change the oil myself outside the dealership before doing the ring seating runs. The dealer says they put fresh oil into a dry engine but they may be lying to me. Who knows, it might already have metal filings in it. Any thoughts on oil color after 3 miles in a new engine?

I find the Busa also very sexy, but after riding it for 20 mins my freaking back starts to hurt. I find the riding position of the ZX14 a bit more tourish, which makes me able to ride longer. But if the busa was a bit more tourish too (riding pos.) i might've gotten one too, even though i still find the ZX14 sexier - The Busa IS way cheaper, also because theres waaaay more busa's out there, and busas are way longer in production

.... Im jealous though. those two bikes are just ..... GOD DAAAMNNN!!! BASTARD

Not the same story here in the states. Busas are about 1K more. Back when I got the 08 14 new, it was 500$ less than an 08 busa. Now the 09 busa jumped 1K in price and I believe the 14 stayed about the same. The 14 looks like a badass sport bike. The busa.......just looks like a busa....but I always loved them both.

I guess the divorce made me realize that i am bi- motorcycular. WTF is the rainbow smiley?

Should have some pics soon, Steven. I had camera with me last time I was at the stealer but I didn't want to take pics since I am already looking the bike over so closely.

Anyone remember if their oil discolored rapidly in there brand new bike? This busa with 3 miles looked like it had oil somewhere between the color of honey and coffee. My 14 wouldn't have oil that color until it was ready to be changed. I can't say for sure if the oil got dark quick when the 14 was new.

I wouldn't worry about the oil.But have fun changin it!PITA-that's for sure.An don't crack those fairings pullin em off(have fun with that also!)That midfairing runs about ,oh,500 bucks or so(my buddy had to replace his cause he CRACKED it taking the fasteners off(from the inside mind you?)But the Busa's a go getter all right-I rode his for about 10 minutes in the high speed twisters and such.HAD to give it back-to me-VERY uncomfortable-but you could probably adjust some of that out in the suspension maybe? It was fairly "firm"(like feeling EVERY imperfection in the road). But it is a very cool machine-that's for sure.Be careful on er-she turns in quite quickly, too much for my liking anyway!!!!Have fun-PICS!!!!!My buddy's got an Alien Head on his-she takes off VERY quick.I think the stock gearing for the 14 is a tad "less aggressive" than the Busa-but 16/42 solved that issue.I'm sure my bud was quite shocked that I stayed right with him on some of those hard takeoffs.WoooHoooo!!!!!

Yep somebody had to out the Rookster Rook, welcome to the club that goes both ways....I think me, you, and Rotten are the only busa+14 owners on the board
You're going to enjoy the old bus tho....they're fun, fast sporty handling bikes. Not as smooth and comfy as a 14, but a little sharper handling

Thanks all. Thanks for fairing tips, blue. I've heard it's not the easiest thing to do routine maintenance on the busa. Like most other things, I'm sure there is a trade off. The fairings look tighter on the busa but taking them off is quite a mystery. If it turns in easier, that will be interesting because it sure feels heavier sitting on it.

I went in an obsessive frenzy to look one more time at the oil and it does look clear brown but someone told me theirs also darkened up pretty quickly. I don't feel that the dealer is lying to me about the oil being just put into a dry engine. He said the battery was also dry. I think I can trust my intuition on peoples' intentions so the fear of the bike being a false new is put to rest.

Only thing that sucks is that the guy is not willing to replace the windscreen which is swirled up pretty bad. Might be a good time to try a rattle can clear coat to see if that is a good way to bring a windscreen back to showroom appearance.

Oil changes are a MUCH bigger pain on the busa than the 14, but its MUCH easier getting to the top of the engine on the busa vs the 14. Like most things in life, there's always a trade-off

Rook- According to my buddy,he says the fasteners are on the "inside" of the fairing-I've no idea where. But he snapped one of the fairing stays somehow-it cost him 400 bucks to replace that one piece-so BE CAREFUL!!!(that wasn't the fairing itself, just the piece that holds it!) You might get some Mequiar's "plast X" clear plastic cleaner and polish. That may get er lookin new again. Also Meguiar's "scratch X"-both work very well at removing light scratches.May have to apply it several times though till you get the deeper ones out.Good Luck-Busa's rock too!(but I'm happy with my Bluebird).(Nice gsx Mass-probably quite the ride!).You know Mass-I'm lookin at the front end of your bike there-I'm seein something kinda strange lookin. At the tip of the headlamp, shouldn't there be ANOTHER tip coming out on the other side there?where the right side headlamp comes down to the ram air opening?Or does the fairing right there come together, and it's just not visible from that view?I dunno, probably nothin!

It's just one middle piece that splits the two air ducts and it's directly centered under the big headlight.

None of it is there now- its' all ugly unpainted race fairings!

I am just glad that I dont like the look of any other bikes besides this one (ZX-14). Looks to be expensive if you got the eye for different styling. Of course it has always cost alot of money to fix up the ugly girls.

Pics ASAP. Might be a couple days. Supposed to rain tomorrow. I may just go and settle up $$wise. Could take a pic in the showroom, I guess. Still kind of bitter on that windscreen. I saw them on E-bay for $60. I'm going to try to get something for that windscreen if he won't change it. Maybe he will buy me a bottle of Meguires plastic polish.

^^You said it perfectly, Matsuke.....and they ride just the way they look IMO. The 14 is the wild barbarian and the busa is the refined soldier. The 14 feels faster. The busa did not scare me at all but it is just as fast. The only thing about the busa was the vibey bottom end that roughly corresponds to the 14's vibey 3.5-4K performance. I do not like the vibe in the busa right at take off. It feels a little cheap compared to the perfect smoothness of the entire rest of the powerband (yeah, I redlined it 3 times and hardly felt it). I enjoy the gnarlyness of my 14 over 6K. it is frighteningly fierce where the busa just feels like it is not even touching the ground. Both bikes similar in performance but vastly dif personalities, IMHO.

Brakes are not nearly as good on the busa but they were adequate for the street. I am usually very light on my brakes though. Be interesting to test the busa in real braking capability.

Did not notice a big dif in suspension. I may have my rear suspension set too tight for one up riding on the 14. It is perfect for two up. The busa suspension, as it is set up by the dealer, felt exactly the same as the 14's.

Stock exhaust sounds better on the busa. Has a more hollow, refined sound. Sporty but very quiet. I suppose my 14 was also extremely quiet when new but the sound was always more raw.

Aeros/wind protection, if there is a diff, I did not notice in my first 13 miles of riding. I only went ~130-140mph though. I have no doubt the busa cuts the air better at really high speed.

Cornering, the busa feels extremely good considering it is noticeably heavier at a standstill. I have not cornered hard with it yet though. It felt enough like the 14 that I had a high level of confidence handling the bike except at parking lot speeds.

Transmission. I am really sorry to report, my brothers, the busa is smoother in every way. N to 1st, 1st to 2nd, every downshift perfect even in lower gears.

Looks. The 14 is better looking.

Instruments. I like the look of analogue on the busa but the 14 is a lot easier to read and displays more info on the multi-func meter. I guess I was mostly concerned with the tach today and that of course, is no dif than the 14's tach.

Signal lights on the busa do not seem as bright and visible. Mirrors offer a better rear view but they are ugly. i will have to change those.

Heat. Didn't notice it from the busa.

Comfort/riding position. Both feel the same to me. Busa is more forward in upper body position and this is noticeable to me only when i focus on that aspect. That's me, though. I have a good back, I guess. Seat feels 1/2" lower on the busa.

So there's some impressions. I'll post better pics in the Other Bikes forum soon.
