Sorry Juicy , I did this yesterday . I did not take any pics of the install . I have read that some guys have bought units that require batt power supply and others that need seperate grounds . The one I bought and just installed required none of this . Just unplug your bulb and plug this into ballast and then ballast into bulb . Now finished .

Also just to let you know this is not the slim line digital ballast .This is the Cheapest unit I could find . I did not expect to like it but now......love Love LOVE it . The set was 49.99 off flea bay and 50.00 to ship(Canada). I have tried three diffrent sets of bulbs for low beam . All crap . Free if you want . You pay peanunts you get monkeys . I have also changed the outside bulbs to 194 LEDs . All are 6000K Diamond White . SWEET . The H9 high beams should be in next week . I will take some pics if any one wants to see . And if you are looking into this do not get caught up in the K#s as most of us do. The lower the k the brighter . The k is for coulour intensity .The most common is 6000k and 8000k . I have for the low beams 6000k ,4300 may have been brighter but it is more yellow.

I would love to see a picture of the two ballast side by side(standard&slim). I bought mine last year and I got kind of pissed off at the size of them . I did not think I would have the room . I just installed on the weekend and I was amazed on how much room there was .The new slim line high beams should be in soon .I will pull one out and compare . I love the results .And it was easy to do . Cheers .

Steve, I think your two stacked are the size of my one . I placed them low next to the turn signals . I will follow your lead and stack the high beams in the same place .Thanks for the photos.

Glad you ordered the slim ballasts. Even though they do not have the integrated igniters, they are still much easier to install in the limited space on a motorcycle. The other ones are more suitable for a........tank

A tank is right . I was very dissappointed in the size and weight of thicker analog ballast. They look like a sawed off end of a 4 by 4 .But once I saw the diffrence in light out put, I loved it. So..... I bought both the high and low beams AGAIN . I could not get all four of the new slim line ballast in the same location as yours, only three would fit . I ended up installing them behind the signal light brackets . Two ballasts fit behind each bracket and they are against the factory foam (easy to do). Every one I show them to, seems to love them . Tonight we installed the slim lines in my step brothers M109. He Loves it . The good news for me is that the old ones (used for 1 hour) fit my truck . GMC uses the H11 as there low beam as well . That just leaves me stuck with the H9 high beams. Can't win them all. All in all I am very very happy with the results.

I have a 08 ZX-14 and want to replace the low beams(HID) and "parking" lights(LED). I'm new to HID and need to know if I need to order the 35W ballast or the 55w. Also on replacing the parking lights with LEDs, I know I need a 194 bulb but do not know the type of connector(at work and don't have bike with me). An help is greatly appreciated.

Four ballasts total? And your high and low beams can be the same K value bulbs?(I don't ride at night-it would only be for visibility during daylight and dusk.)Any cutting or splicing?

Four ballasts are needed for Hi&Low set up. One ballast for each bulb. As far as the K value, it is all up to you. They do not all have to be the same. If you wanted, it is possible to have 6 different colors out front. I went with all the same. The replacement for the peanut bulbs(194)to LED at the time was 6000 K and this was all I could get (maybe you have more options now) so I made them all the same. The systems shown above that I used were all plug and play. I can not answer on how long they will last as mine are still going strong. These are great for being seen. If it stops one driver from pulling out in front of you then it was all worth it. Also the high beams make a great second horn. I hope the guys with the new 55watt systems post some feed back.

Yup sounds right. The bulb size you need are H11 times two and H9 times two. Please tell me you ordered the ULTRA slim (see my screw up above) They tricked me once . They advertise slim but as the pics show, they were anything but. Your going to Love them. Once they are installed turn adjusting screws clockwise at least 3 or 4 turns then go to your nearest dark place and check it out.(it's a definite WOW).Congrats.

Wheelie, just looking at your pic. Very nice. The 4300k bulbs(not HID) I had in my bike looked like bananas.

I'm sure if they are advertising for our bikes, you should get what you want. The bigger ballasts do work fine. It's just that they are so dam big. I had the two big ballasts installed but when it came time to install the four of them, I wanted the thinner ones. Like I said, the vendor tricked me by advertising as slim line. When your kit shows up you will just have to install them down inside the fairing. There is allot more room then you would think. Blue, you still have time, Send an e-mail and tell the guy that you what SLIM SLIM Or Ultra slim Or what ever the SCAM is today, but make them thin. I only found out when I opened the box, you still have time. No matter what happens in the size of the ballast, you now have lights that are 300% brighter and use 1/3 the energy. You will love them.

Glad to hear you got the message out to them in time. It sucks to find out after the box is open. I know, because I have two brand new sets sitting on the floor in front of me. Cheers.

I've run a set of 35 watt HIDs and they were INCREDIBLE. Just recently my bike was wrecked because a deer jumped in front of me.

Since then I heard of a set of 55 watt HIDs. I ordered them strait away for my rebuild. Haven't seen them working yet since the shop still has my bike. The feedback I have heard is that the 55 watts wash out the light a bit so the 6K lights don't have as much of a bluish tinge - to me this is not an issue and since they're brighter than 35 watters in my book they're "more better". :)

BTW, I ordered the 55 watt system from:
http://www.ddmtuning.com/

35 or 55 watt system, you can't go wrong w/ HID.

The bulbs are all the same in most kits as far as construction and power handling capabilities. While you may occasionally receive a bulb from us or any supplier with a 35W sticker attached, this does not affect or limit or determine the actual tolerance or output of the bulb. Whether the bulbs we supply from varied production factories have a 35W, 50W, 55W or 60W sticker on them, they are all exactly the same in power rating. They also all can be used with any of our ballasts which actually determine the output power of your kit.

If I read this right, it sounds like all the bulbs are the same. But it does not say anything about how much the higher output ballast will shorten the bulbs life ? I was also wondering how hot they must get. They sound great. Great info Denis, Thanks.

Romans - Just ordered a 55W 6K Ultra Slim HID Kit for the low beams. I heard that the bulbs are hard to get into the light socket on the bike - ie - aligning up the three arms on the bulb with the slots in the light socket on the bike. When you installed yours, did you take the front end off or just remove the inner pannels to access where the lights are? If you or anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears!

I have same question as babarf! :)

Just ordered a 55W 5k kit from DDM Tuning - anyone knows if it comes with everything I need or if any extra parts are needed? I am a newb. But, I will take pictures of complete install with arrows/detailed instructions and post here when done so that we settle this once and for all. My bike won't be here until about 25th, so I should do the mod and post back here that weekend.

I bought the 55W 6000K system from DDM Tuning. When it got here it looked like everything necessary was in the box.

I'm having the shop install them while they fix all the other stuff on my bike so not doing the work. Supposed to pick up my bike today!!!! Haven't heard of any issues at the shop with the install so I'm guessing it's good. I'll post info on the DDM kit once I get my bike back and can ride at night.

When I did my previous HID install it was pretty easy to get the bulbs into the sockets - this was low beams - I took off the covers right under the handlebars (the ones you have to take off to adjust the beam height) and took out the under fairing cowling and with both of those off it was pretty easy to get to the socket, pull original and install replacement bulb, and work the wiring. I had the shop make me some small brackets and those bolted on right where the forks come up and they held the ballasts really nice - I don't know what they had to remove to get the brackets on though.
