Help, need source for well nuts!
10/22/10 6:44 AM

Ok guys, someone else had this issue, but the discussion did not appear to resolve the issue:

A large rubber well nut was cut nearly in half and needs to be replaced... It is the larger rubber/brass well nut that secures a corner of the foreman grill to the fuel tank/airbox assembly via a longer than average fairing machine screw and is NOT the smaller more common OEM schematic part number 92015 (5mm) well nut as shown at such web sites as Babbits, this is a Kawasaki error in its parts diagrams I guess, this fuel tank well nut is much LARGER, outter diameter of rubber is much larger than the common 92015 well nuts that secure most of the fairing and windscreen bolts.....I need your help in finding a source and or correct part number for the larger mystery well nut..

ANYONE:

a) What is the OEM ordering part number for for this larger fuel tank well nut that seats the long bolt through the upper corner of foreman grill in to the airbox/fuel tank housing (on the larger OEM well nut I took out it says 1420D, but thats not an OEM part number. It is NOT 92015 as shown on OEM schematics such as at Babbits, unless there are differant version of 92015 well nuts (like 92015 - xxxx)??????

b) Where can we order these Kawasaki larger well nuts?

Thanks!

Drew it is: 92015-1692 NUT,RUBBER,6MM

Source Ron Ayers micro fiche HERE. I have also had to replace those a few years ago. Be careful to not over tighten them in the future.

Had the same problem. Pretty scary pulling it out. Thought it would break off. I leave those almost loose now. They never come out.

answered you on other thread. I had to wrap it once with electrical tape to get the nut to stop spinning so the bolt could grab.

do a search for desmoparts.com they sell the stuff bulk you can get the well nuts in 4/5/6mm sizes as well as all the plastic washers for 4/5/6mm screws in clear and black nylon
Also I have noticed a descrepancy as well some are saying it is a 6mm well nut you need but I see most places say it is a 5mm I ordered both

I ordered OEM 6mm well nuts from babbits (other OEM suppliers should work fine) and got exact repacement parts for the tank/airbox well nut. Here is the kicker, the OEM part diagrams show the same part number for this well nut as the more common 5mm well nut, I called babbits and spoke to them to clarify, and the 6mm has a " -xxxx " specific order number that must be specified to differentiate this from the 5mm. Im on the road and dont have the numbers, but just call the OEM supplier and clarify this with them in your order.

I also ordered a few 6mm well nuts from Desmo as cited above, the rubber flange on them is thinner than OEM, but they were a good supplier of bolts, silicon washers etc.

I almost ordered these two well nuts (92015-1692) from Babbits until I saw the shipping charge of $16 DOLLARS!!! Always pays to check.... and this site murphskits.com wants $7+ for each PLUS a lot of shipping $$...

It's an almost $9 order on Desmoparts.com! Did anyone find a reasonable source for these? These thing should cost under a $1. Anyone have a couple of extras new ones they could throw in an envelope for $4 or $5?

Maybe try your local stealership? I know I am crossing a line here, but sometimes they do get it right, and at a reasonable cost.

lol Babbits is right up the road from me...worthless stealership IMO.

Anyway, do a search for wellnut on Amazon. Seems like I had some luck last time this topic came up.

Went through this last year. I dont torque them things at all now and have had no problems. Found 6mm at Lowes. They had 5 of them and I cleaned them out. Stealership will charge a couple of bucks and I think they were dollar something at Lowes.

I ordered a couple from the stealer. Took two tries but hey got it right after odering the incorrect small well nut. Just go 1 1/2 turn past the point where you feel the rubber squeeze. Loose. It will never come out until you remove it and it will never split again either..

Dealer would be cheaper than shipping and import tax from England to USA. Maybe not so bad for you in Canada?

source for 6mm well nuts found!
08/04/11 11:08 AM

I found the 6mm well nuts over at www.bikebolts.com and ordered them. Guy's name is Steve and two of them shipped were $3.54! I'm sure he's not making a lot money on these so I will be using and recommending his web site to others in the future. Thanks Steve for stepping up, much appreciated!

(Disclaimer: Don't know these guys, never used them before.)
