RE: front tire has issues need advise

In the spirit of this thread I decided to remove my rotors last night before I get my tire changed today. After all the stories I've heard about peoples rotors getting outawhack after a tire change I'm not taking any chances.

As for the front end noise.
I was just thinking- some rotor rivets/buttons whatever you call 'em have a tendency to be sticky/too tight. Before you give up entirely, try to loosen up the rivets holding the rotor on the center rotor frame/carrier. This could cause a slightly untrue condition not to mention they should be a little loose anyways to perform correctly and let the rotor float where it needs to.

Well, so much for that idea, they said they can't balance without the rotors. wth? I'm thinking of just having them mount the tire and do the balance myself.

I'm also getting a 90 degree valve stem installed so I don't have anymore screwing around checking air pressures

Edge,

Call 'em. Tell 'em the weight is more on the outside, not from within. The mass is at the bottom of the tire... Tell 'em.

I'm going to take a guess. Say this is a V profile, where the other style is a U shape. Then, there is the two layer galvanizing of hard centers and soft sides = Shemowhawk my V.

Well, back on topic, I just put the new rotors on and took the bike out and the vibration is gone. I should have stuck with my original guess, but I'm just glad it is fixed. Time to hit the road.
I ended up getting a used set of rotors though. I couldn't pass up a $60 pair Hub! Figured I could take a chance with them since if the gamble went my way I'd save hundreds. They work fine. I got a used set from someone who bought the 14 and basically upgraded the rotors right after buying it. Now I have some money let over for something I really want.
Thanks for the help and encouraging me to stick with it and not pay a shop. The front stand will pay off in the future as well, so I appreciate all the advise.

Keep in mind what caused the rotor to warp in the first place may rear it's ugly head again. Glad to see you got it fixed with out dealer.

I hope not, I put my OEM pads back on the bike and the only other thing that happened before the warpage was having my tire changed. There was a wobble when I had the tire put on the bike. Then I took it back and they said my tire was low on air. The wobble never completely went away and it got worse. I was told a flat spot on the tire from the shop guys next. I think they dropped or did something to cause the problem. I'm not taking my bike back there ever again, so hopefully the warping will not happen again.

Good deal..Romes is right on...whatever caused it you don't want a repeat performance!I'm just wondering here...does anyone think that just on an outside possibility, when the mechanics are changing the fronts, you think MAYBE they are hitting the rotors somehow...you know...not really noticing it?Just enough to cause a rotor bend somehow?I know it's common sense to NOT hit the rotors with anything, but maybe some of these guys are not really payin close attention to how they're handling the front when installing the tire. The manual clearly cautions against hitting the rotors when removing the wheels.(and/or removing the calipers from the discs).

Yeah, I risked it but $60 would have been a small loss if they ended up being bad. What's nice is I have one of my old good rotors left as a backup. So I am ok if I get another warped rotor but then the mystery of why it keeps happening will begin. For now I'm just going to keep riding.

Took the bike to work this morning, about a 40 min. ride and the bike is great. SO nice being able to ride it like I stole it again!

I'm not trying to be a wize-azz. I'm not trying to be some know-it-all. I just made an observation and eliminated a few variables to come to a conclusion.

1. I did not sanda flo with a set of brake pads.
2. I did not have the wrong air pressure.
3. I did not find a disc run-out, nor felt a hint of pulse at the lever.
4. I did not have an out of balance tire.
5. I did not neglect the care and feeding of said front steering bearing free-play.
6. I did not come here looking for an apology because I wasn't trying to be a wise ass, nor thought I need an apology being some know it all demanding one.
7. I eye-eye-eye am looking for, blue.
8. Wear out the fuck is that sanda floor frack'inn crack'inn over the sidewalk scrubbing away...
9. Sanding away a wobble... Eye-eye hammered the exit ramp like normal and low and behold..
10. SheDING!

I dunno... just a thought. But so many guys have had rotor problems, you'd think someone woulda noticed.

I opted for 5.5mm front rotors in the hopes of avoiding the issue. Had to sacrafice a little weight savings though.

I dunno... just a thought. But so many guys have had rotor problems, you'd think someone woulda noticed.

Here is what Wee brain has been thinking the possible causes are

1. Caliper holes are not bored true top versus bottom ?

2. Shock Tube not tapped true, top hole versus bottom ?

3. both mounting surfaces not decked true.

4. Caliper has a seized piston or sticking. checked, all good.

5. Rotors bent when new. Floating disk hard to get perfect

6. Driving like a idiot. Ya, ok. What about "The Worlds Best Super Bike Brakes"

7. One side only,,,, hmmmmmm.

8. = Brain cramp.

9. To gentle a bed in process, to hard a bed in process ?

10. Leave it the fuck alone a just live with it.

Guess which one is winning ?

If things are not perfect it eats away at me. I've tried to turn a blind eye to this but when no one is looking I rip into it and look again. It's a simple mechanical device how can this elude me ?

Smoking Gun I have still have not found.

11. Steal the rotors, calipers, pads of wifes bike and see if prob follows. If it does I will have 4 bent sets and a nervous brake down.

12. Say Fuck It And Buy New Bike 2012.,,,,,,,,,, If The Same Brakes On New 14 =
