In the spirit of this thread I decided to remove my rotors last night before I get my tire changed today. After all the stories I've heard about peoples rotors getting outawhack after a tire change I'm not taking any chances.
As for the front end noise.
I was just thinking- some rotor rivets/buttons whatever you call 'em have a tendency to be sticky/too tight. Before you give up entirely, try to loosen up the rivets holding the rotor on the center rotor frame/carrier. This could cause a slightly untrue condition not to mention they should be a little loose anyways to perform correctly and let the rotor float where it needs to.
