I ran across a Dyno-drag machine sponsored by Geico at the Big HD dealership in Daytona yesterday.

I though it would be "fun" to put the 14 up there after watching a few other bike give it a try. I asked the operator what was the quickest time of the weekend and he responded "9.80".

I said OK, I'll give it a try. So I went to go get the bike and make my way back.

It's an interesting concept. They weigh the bike and rider while aboard the machine and then they strap the bike down like they would a Dyno. There is a starting tree right in front of you and the instructor give you a few brief instructions.

The guy said to me "yeah, wind it up to about 7-8 K rpms and dump the clutch and go on green".
I smirked at him and said "not this bike, maybe 5K rpm but not 8K"

I launched the bike at about 6K and gave it hell. The temp shot up quick after the first pass and I see why the instructor said to rev it up on the launch. The bike bogged a little but not below 4.5K.

Right out of the box the bike ran like a raped ape and I didn't even get a good start.

That "run" netted me a 9.34@ 154.4 mph. 175.1 hp to the wheel.

I let the bike cool down after that pass and then tried again. 9.31 @ 155.3mph 175.4 hp.

I then told the guy I needed 2 min to cool down and tried again for my 3rd and last try.
This one was good. A 9.22 @155.5 with 177.7 hp to the wheel.

Nobody would line up against me. There was a new CBR1K and a 600 up just before me and a bunch of Yamaha Cruisers after me. No one would go up against me. Oh Well.

So I beat the best time of the weekend by better then .6 seconds.

Not too real but fun just the same.
BTW,,,,,,, my best time at the track in real world is a 9.74 @ 146 mph.

I took a guess that a harley had those numbers like something warmed over. How close was I with the ET?

Serving as a testbed for a “hot rod Harley” being planned for production, this 2003 Super Glide was fitted with a 133-cubic-inch S&S engine. At 800 pounds and in full street trim, the bike blasted down the quarter-mile in 9.21-seconds at 147-mph. Production models will get a bigger engine, and generate 200 horsepower at the rear wheel.

I did the dyno drags a few times , it's great for a laugh ... I put it on 10,000 on the tach and dropped the clutch and ran 8.30s .. I won 3 trophies for the fastest sportbike without a turbo or spray ..The trophies are still setting at Jims Harley Davison if anyone wants them ..lol :)

Wicked times though.

I think the best time I ran on that thing was a 9.22 @ 155 mph. In the real world though, a 9.74(now a 9.71 @146.26) @ 146 was my best.
