Carbon Dynamics Carbon Fiber Fuel Tank Guard at 58 cycle
05/04/11 10:49 AM

Anybody have any experience with this company. I'm looking to get a tank protector and this would go with my bikes theme. Otherwise I'm going with Mag-Knight.

When I get home I'll link the website that carries a full line of cf tank guards. The one you show is the "half" version, there is also a full version.

It is real cf, so if you wear a belt buckle or your jacket has button heads at the bottom, you will tear up the carbon fiber. It scratches and rips really easy.

When I get one eventually, I'll put a standard protection strip on the cf where that tends to happen.

yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I'm not into putting CF on the bike just for the sake of having CF so I'll prolly spend twice as much on the Mag Knight. I knew you would respond first though, Privy. :)

Shitty thing is I found a listing for a CF Mag Knight which goes for $105 on sale for $25 but it says outa stock! SOAB! I bet they post those prices just to attract business and keep it out of stock for cheap skates like me. lol

Looks like I better man up and buy the matte black MK. I'm just surprised at how few websites carry MK.

on second thought $120 for a stinkin tank protector seems kinda steep. Maybe just a pad...lol I'll keep watching the $25 one and see if it comes back into stock. :)

I'm with stupid, so I'll put a cf tank protector on just to put cf on, and then put an expensive pad on top of that to protect the cf.

What can I say? I'm with stupid.

LOL! Privy, we're all with stupid when it comes to these bikes, just in our own demented ways.

After all that this is what I ended up with from a local shop. $18, doesn't seem like much money anymore when it takes $24 to fill my tank! This will work for now...

I have one like that with a Kawasaki logon on it. Works quite nicely for not much money.

So I think I'm finally done for the year. Time to just ride that damn thing!. New exhaust maybe next year. Then suspension after that...

Yes, other than fab-ing a mount for my sound system's amplifier so it can "fly" where airstream passes over it, I'm done for the riding season.

The fuse block and electronics module (pod) are all installed, fuses in, the BMW sockets are controlled by the Kustom Komfort variable controls, and the heated grips are on a variable control too, and it all works, no blown fused, no drain on battery.

The fuse block is only (-) negative, which is good because no short is possible like it would be with a block with both (+) and (-) on it.

My GPS and XM antenna are working, and reporting into my helmet system (Chatterbox -H) just fine.

I'm going to take pictures today after work and post them in the topic I created in Pictures just for that.

Then Saturday, we are riding down into VA to Mr. B's BBQ for some of the best BBQ on the east coast. Smoked the old fashion way, same as they did it when their grandparents and great-grandparents were share-croppers in VA before WW2. When the boys came back from WW2, they built the current "Shack" out of concrete blocks and built a massive smoker/cooker in back and to this day won't tell what kinds of wood they put in the bottom of it. Fun trip.

If the VA ever rates my claim, I'll know what happens with next winters mods. I want to do Ohlins R/T forks and rear shock, and Brembo front brakes, and probably Marchesini forged magnesium wheels like I had on my ZX11.

And I'm still with stupid, and will get one of those cf tank protectors and then put a big stick on protector where my belt and jack would scratch it all up.

Oh that reminds me, I was building my own fuse/charging system like you got there. But I already bought all the gizmos I need just need to finish.

I have the Carbon Dynamics tank guard, Edge. It's a nice piece, but I decided it was "too much" CF on my bike and didn't install it. PM me if you want it... I'll give you a good deal.
