i get that hard hit thump like all the time riding around the o so wonderful streets of new york city, lol, i never really paid too much mind to it, does it really do anything serious to the machine besides ur suspension getting worn out faster? The way I see it is too hard of a suspension aint that great either when riding, could be a little dangerous going over a hole or something while leaned over on the highway

Rook get your suspension setup by someone who knows what they are doing. Just turning knobs until you think it feels better will more than likely make things worse than before or even dangerous. You will be amazed at the difference it will make in the bikes handleing and your ridding. I mean what good are expensive tires brake pads and steel lines going to do you if the forks bottom out everytime you get on the brakes hard. Its amazing how many people will buy pipes,Power Commanders, air filters, get custom maps and worry about the air pressure but won't spend $75 bucks to make the suspension work.

he's got a point there, suspension really is the next thing to ur frame and wheels/chain, everything else on the bike can pretty much go whenever and won't be life threatening...it's really up to that person if they feel comfortable enough to make adjustments to the shocks and keeping them equal to each other

When I bought my bike I asked the service manager at the stealer if they could help me set up the suspension. The manual says it comes from the factory set up for a 150lb person. I told him I weigh 170. He said that it's actually good for 150 to 180. That doesn't sound right. I thought it was just a case of not wanting to do it. (Or maybe the lack of adequate knowledge?)
I'd like to compare settings with someone whose had some knowledgable adjustments to their bike too.

Blue 07 is well versed on dialing in the stock stuff.
My stock junk is in the garbage.
If you are over 180, ride like a asshat or very hard in the twisties at all, you'll really need new springs, Followed shortly be a new shock and fork mods.
I'm only 180 and I sacked my 06's stuff in 2 track days and about 5K miles.
And I ride like a ass every time I can get free of traffic or in the mountains.

Sounds like me there Skiffman.Ya-mines all stock.Just recently reset my frontend-I'm 175 with gear. Here's what I did-Preload-3 lines.Rebound-10 clicks.Compression-7 clicks.Gonna give er a go hopefully tomorrow.(today).DEFINITELY just from static check with this-the front end is firm and the rebound is quite pronounced, though it doesn't bounce past the top travel. It stops right where it's supposed to,and isn't pogo sticking. The dive on front brake application feels good-barely any. We'll see!!

Okay-took er out for a GREAT spin.Suspension feels VERY solid, stable in the curves.Parking lot speeds, swerving and quick braking(parking lot)-Very nimble and solid. No dive to speak of.Front end doesn't bounce.High speed stuff-solid,smooth,responsive.Very happy with these new settings. No "wavering" in the curves.Stays on er line very nicely.VERY smooth on all road conditions.I thought I would feel MORE roughness from the front with the preload set up so much-but actually,it smoothed out the ride. Gonna be FUN this next Spring!!!!(Love my MAP!!!)Those vids at "on the throttle" REALLY give some good start points to begin the setup."youTube-'on the throttle' suspension setups 1 and 2.ZX14 specific.

will find the sheet with measurements on it and copy it for you am 109kg ride flat out and very hard most times do track days at QR over here you will probably find a suspension guy at most track days or ask someone will know once it is done you can adjust it yourself as you have a full understanding of how it works.
