I'm curious WHY the treads are opposite from front to rear..

I believe it is because of the braking forces on the front tire and the accelerating forces on the rear.

Water needs to be evacuated as quickly as possible and when braking the front tire is taking the most energy and is slowing down with the force exerted being to the front of the tire (imagine a bow wave on a boat).

When accelerating the rear tire is taking most of the energy and the force on the tire is exerted towards the rear (prop wash on a boat).

... But I'm no expert and might be completely wrong.

I always thought it may have something to do with the way the water channels towards the back....good info alright..thanks again Paul.
