hate to sound stupid but I what to put the right oil in my 14. I have chosen Rotella T but I would like to know do I have to use a bike specific Rotella T. All I couild find at Wally World was the Rotella T 15W-40. Is that the right stuff?

You can run either the 15W40 Rotella (non-synthetic) or the 5W40 Rotella (Full Synthetic). The 5W40 comes in a blue one gallon jug or one quart bottles at Wally World. The 15W40 comes in a white jug or bottle if memory serves. I always run the synthetic but the 15W40 is very good oil also. About $7 a gallon cheaper to use the 15W40 if that makes a difference. Both are JASO MA approved so they're wet clutch compatible.

Amsoil is probably great oil too but I avoid pyramid sales outfits on general principle, bad experience with Amway one time.

I've put 4k miles on fresh AMSOIL 10W40 and everything is just fine. The engine seems to run a bar cooler, even counting Engine Ice and dual fans, plus ceramic coated header and pipes.

Shifts smooth, and getting smoother as I put miles on her. This is the first time I've ever used full synthetic in a motorcycle, I've always used Castrol 20W50 with good results. So far, so good.

I'm a devout Motul user. Have tried a lot of different oils over the years, and the Motul is hands down the best I've ever found.
Case in point, the Hayabusa.. Those things shift like a dump truck. Have to ram it into gear or it'll spit it right back out into a false neutral. Went from the original break-in oil it came with to Mobil 1 at 500 miles, made it shift worse. Dumped it after 1500 miles and put in Motul 7100, instant smoother shifting. False neutrals became a thing of the past. After another 4000 miles I put the top end Motul 300V in it, buttery smooth shifts from then on. I have'nt missed a shift in 2 years, and after 4000 miles, the oil I drain out doesn't look all that much different than the oil I put in.
Great stuff, all I'll use now.

'07 Hayabusa presently.. mostly stock, few comfort mods.. fixed. As Willie says, "On The Road Again"..
'04 KDX 200 dirt bike, that I manage to hurt myself with on a regular basis
'09 KX250F for a bit of Motocross

I use "Bel-Ray" it's a nice high performance oil. The life of the oil is not the greatest but I change my oil every 2,000 to 2,500 miles.

I was using repsol synth blend when I lived in California but when I moved to wisconsin I couldn't find it up in the sticks so I use amsoil now. No issues other than the price.

I've always used Mobil in my bikes, but made the switch to Amsoil just this year - no real reason, just figure my equipment deserves the best ;)

Honestly, with all the hype of motor oils and then the folks using run-of-the-mill oils such as Rotella and Mobil 1 with thousands of miles and no issues, it's hard for me to justify spending the extra 20-30 dollars on the Amsoil-priced oils. I started with regular Kawi-spec oil my first oil change, then half-synth Repsol, then the latest full synth Rotella. No issues whatsoever.

Honestly, I don't see heat/shift issues with the lower cost stuff mymonster. I can get a gallon of the stuff for $24 at Walmart.

If it works for you my friend, then do it.
I just prefer to follow studies and results.
Spend more money now and less later.

Not that my way is best, but just my way.

Oil and air filter is the blood and lungs of the beast.
Take good care of them and they will take care of you!

Has anyone on here used Schaeffer's 9000 Synthetic oil? I absolutely love this stuff for my supra. At my work we use it in ALL of our trucks. I found on their website that it works great on engines with common sump for transmission and engine.
"4-Cycle Motorcycles and ATV Engines

Supreme 9000 Racing Oil SAE 5W-50 is also recommended for use in all 4-cycle air-cooled or water-cooled motorcycle and ATV engines. Supreme 9000 Racing Oil SAE 5W-50 can also used in those motorcycles that have a common sump for the engine and transmission. "

http://www.schaefferoil.com/supreme_9000_racing_oil.html

We sell the 10-40 stuff, but not the 5-50 stuff at our store. I am thinking about getting some and trying it. My Schaeffer's guy uses it in his bike, but it is a Harley. He didn't recommend using it personally, but he didn't really like sport bikes.

In my car, it was amazing. It re-coated the bearings of my turbos and made them run like new again. They were pretty worn. Also, in diesel trucks, guys are able to go 15k+ miles between oil changes. They just get an oil analysis and it says everything is fine every 7500 miles. This stuff is amazing!

I used Castrol 10w40 in some over the years, and 20w50 in a couple. Just have to change it every 2,000 miles because the gear train destroys its viscosity quickly.

This is why Amsoil is without a doubt the very best motorcycle oil. Being synthetic is part of it, but mostly in that it doesn't break down and produce acids which eat your crank bearing, etc.

If you look at the data on Amsoil compared to everything else, including Mobil 1 and Castrol, they all lose viscosity seriously by the 3k mile mark. Amsoil does not. So it is still doing the job when the rest are fail.

But, if you drain and refill with Castrol every 2,000 miles, you are golden.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned Klotz synthetic oils. I have used it in all of my motorcycles for the past 9 years. I had well over 40k miles on a CBR600 with no noises at all. It shifted smoother than a new motorcycle.

I used to work in a motorcycle shop with a motorcycle dyno, and a guy came in with a GSXR1000 that he had just bought used. The guy he bought it from recently had the oil changed with some semi-synthetic from the dealership. He had used Klotz before and wanted to go ahead and swap it out. So, we put it up on the dyno and did a before and after. We picked up 5hp and the shifting was smoother.

My favorite thing about the Klotz is that I don't have to change it but every 6-8k miles. When it gets dirty, I change it. Klotz really is amazing and everyone who tries it refuses to use anything else.

HP increase, less oil changes, smoother shifting...what's not to like?
