winter farkels

I know some of you lucky pricks don't have 4 months of shit weather, but for the rest of us that do it's the perfect time for mods. Last winter I adjusted the valves, installed ohlins suspension, chain and sprockets and brembo levers. This winter I'm looking forward to:

1. Romans ecu flash
2. ceramic coat my stock header
3. upgrade stock seat, thinking sargent
4. install gen 2 wheels on my gen 1.

That's about it besides normal maintenance. Anyway I'd like to hear what everyone else has on there shit to do list...always makes me feel better about spending money when I'm not the only one. Happy farkeling.

I'm currently deciding whether to do a 40 shot of NOS, with a progressive controller, or save that $800 and put it towards a set of Carrozzeria Wheels. I'm also planning on doing a new windscreen over the winter and a shorai battery upgrade. I did my oil when I installed my new exhaust a couple weeks back - so I'm good on that front. It's going to be a long long winter though.....

Hopefully in April ... last couple weeks if I'm lucky.
I get the itch as soon as it's about 5, or 6 and sunny, and the roads start drying up...

I'd say May, there is so much road salt it eats and sand blasts bikes.
I can't believe sleep is soon upon us all.

Since BW II is pushing 40K miles, besides new tires, I'm going through the tired suspension. Currently have a donor shock at Traxxion Dynamics for rebuild/ re-spring/re-valve. The forks will get new seals and oil at a minimum. Not sure yet whether to add an Ohlins or Racetech kit.

Buck20 winter is when us construction workers get laid off, collect max unemployment for a couple of months, hang out with our friends and ride snowmobiles and work on our bikes all while our wifes are at work. Thanks for asking.

Fox,
The seasonal unemployment thing does have its charm and does hit the pocket. Good luck during the off time. Over here winter has started with Abandon!

Unfortunately teachers do have seasonal work but cannot cash in on the UI deal. UI aint necessarily a seasonal thing to everyone and it damn sure aint the max for those with the greatest need.

...but hey, if you got a kid or two you might qualify for food stamps and low income housing if the off season just so happens to go a year or three longer than expected.

Wtf...how can they give a teacher 10 weeks off over the summer with no pay? Must be worth it, seems like everyone wants to be a teacher.

heheheh about 90K + ~30k in benefits and a good pension might not go so far in NY but in Milwaukee, that's a public school teacher with a masters degree gets. Also no more residency requirement. They move out to the burbs like everyone else with a good job who has to work in this SH!THOLE of a city. Cops and firefighters will be next and then every square inch will fall into ghetto.

Must be worth it, seems like everyone wants to be a teacher.

The benefits have been cut a bit but they are still super good. The starting pay for a MPS teacher with a BA and WI DPI cert is about $40K. Ok for 9 months work and if you can hang on for 5 years and take an accelerated masters course in education...you got 'er. triple digits is not far out of your grasp. WOe is me....those 100K salaries are starting to get to be common. I got a aways to go yet.

I say more power to them.. I was in teaching for a while and it can be very trying. If they can teach in some of these neighborhoods, I say they are worth 100K/year.

but no UI in summer or other breaks. I think that is because it is a gov job.....Ther was a famous court ruling back in the 70s...sucks for private school teachers....They generally are paid less but I think they got grandfathered in with the public school teachers. Sup Court rules NO UI FPR TEACHERS. ...the higher paid ones would max though wouldn't they?

I think the poor schools like some in FL are low paying enough to qualify yeachers for food stamps. Heard that a few years back when I was teaching.

i'm all for a college education but it is true that there are more than a few grads hitting the real world and can't out of the waiter/ess job they were doing. It helped them pay their tuition and now it pays the student loan that they will be paying for the next 15 years if they do not find a good paying job. makes you wonder... I would not be looking at private colleges. State Us are often just as good in quality and maybe better because of tax $$ that don't go to private institutions.
