Lots of misinformation can get spread if you don't check your facts before you make a post. Unless, of course if you qualify it with "IMO."
I just ordered that set of wheels from that dealer. They weigh 9.25# front and 12.0# rear. The weight of the stock wheels is 11.6# front and 19.5# rear. I believe that's 9.75# lighter.
The mfg says:
REDUCING THE WEIGHT OF YOUR WHEELS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PERFORMANCE CHANGE THAT YOU CAN MAKE TO YOU MOTORCYCLE!
Lighter wheels will make a major difference in the handling of your bike. They will also greatly improve the acceleration and deceleration “braking” of your bike for the following reasons.
Static Weight: Each ounce of reduction of the wheels weight is equivalent to 4 ounces on the sprung part of the bike. If new wheels weigh 10 pounds less than your stock wheels, This is equal to 40 pounds of weight reduction on the bike.
Dynamic Weight: This is the weight reduction on the rim of the wheel and this is where the action is. EACH OUNCE OF WEIGHT REDUCTION ON THE RIM IS EQUAL TO ABOUT 24 POUNDS OF WEIGHT AT 100 MPH! ..
The rims are beautiful. I'm waiting for delivery of my Dunlop Qualifiers so I can mount them!
I ordered the same sizes as stock from Ride Direct Tires for $266.90 shipped.
I also ordered some Dyno Beads so Iwoln't have weights stuck all over the beautiful new rims.
This is my birthday present to myself!!

Gone14,
check your facts and don't even try to explain to me about wheels- keep your chrome rollers polished though.
This set of forged aluminum Marchesinis is more than 12 lbs. lighter than the steel oem zx14 wheels!!!
They are also 2 lbs. lighter than the forged aluminum Carrozerias.

MASSZX14 THINGS OEM ZX14 RIMS ARE MADE OUT OF STEEL
You must think I'm dumb- the oem wheels on my old Jeep are aluminum.
You honestly believe that your stock wheels are the same weight as the Marchesinis?
The bare oem zx10 wheels are over 5 lbs. lighter than the 14's and they are both Enkei and from what I've read they use the exact same alloy for all of their oem wheels (Kawasaki, Suzuki etc.)
Look up what they mean by "forged" and they have their exact weights measured on many forums and in reviews.
Marchesini is in Moto GP and Superbike with their wheels and you compare them to the heaviest oem wheels on a japaneese
sportbike in the last 20 years.

Well, I checked and my post is still there. You know...the one with the wheel weights in it.
I weighed the Marchesini's myself. The produce manager at the market was a little astonished but he'll get over it!
The OEM weights are from a guy who weighed them, and appeared on another forum which mass told me about. I didn't think that left much to debate about but I guess I was wrong.
I do plan to weigh the OEM wheels myself as soon as I've switched.
Gone14, it would be interesting as to where you got the information that the wheels are the same weight.
Is it just because they're both aluminum?

Well I looked up the carrozerio wheels-according to them the weight is like 12lbs rear,7 lbs front for their wheels(I approximated here)-but they were lighter than the Marchesini's.Plus-they were much less expensive-so...........dunno yet. They also have a NEW wheel out-called a TRI-race.Looks very good as well-but they're not making it for the 14 "yet".Even LIGHTER than the others.Funny though-they made it for the Hayabusa-so I wonder what's going on there? And it says to use a Kawasaki sprocket design(or some such deal)??????????????

All wheel weight measurements (in order for a fair comparison) should be done with a bare rim stripped of anything that bolts on and mounts on. Different tire manufacturers and different models in the manufacturer's catalog have different weights.
Yes- tires do vary vastly in weight even in the exact same size! The Shinko is a great example of a tire that in the 190/50 profile will be over 1 lbs. heavier than any Michelin or Pirelli rear in the same profile.
Worn out tires are lighter than brand new tires for very obvious reasons.
I weighed the zx14 front wheel with a worn out tire and compared it to a zx10 front wheel with new tire and difference was less than 2 lbs. with the 10r wheel being lighter.
When I weighed the zx14 and zx10 wheel bare- the difference was over 3 lbs. advantage for the 10 front.
Do not weigh the wheels with the rotors! Example- the two zx14 front rotors combined are over 1 lbs. lighter than the two front rotors on my gsxr 750! The 14 rotors are some of the lightest oem.
The bare BST wheels are around 16 lbs. lighter than the bare oem wheels on the zx14 and that's insane for handling!
All the bolt ons for the rear BST are lighter than the oem stuff- sprockets (diff bolt pattern than oem), rear brake rotor, ti rotor and sprocket bolts (the BST hub uses bolts and nuts different than oem) etc.- it knocks off at least another 3 lbs. off the complete rear wheel assembly weight.
There are many ways and means to shed additional weight off the rollers.
Sharkey, weigh the Marchesinis bare and let us know what the scale said.

BST's it is then -next year!!!!Anything special I should know about parts for them Mass? They will take a standard Kawasaki or 42 steel rear sprocket won't they?I don't really want aluminum on there. And the brake rotor goes right on no problem?Stock spacers?

BST uses a different hub and bolt pattern for the rear sprocket,
you have no other option but to go with an aftermarket aluminum or
steel sprocket. There are turbo 14s that use Vortex aluminum sprockets with no issues whatsoever.
Only poor chain care and misaligned rear wheel will result in excessive teeth wear.
The rotors bolt right on any aftermarket rollers but the zx14 rear is too
big and heavy and has to go IMHO.
BST wheels use their own spacers as the centers of the wheels are much narrower than the oem wheels.
They come with the wheels for your specific bike application.
The only other thing you need to know is that my 14 turns as wel as my 750!

The wheels do have the hubs bolted on. I'll weigh them without sometime between football games today.
I did a lot of searching on the web and I found Carrozzeria wheels to weigh more than Marchesini. Be back later.
