Finally got around to syncing the bike after 23k. I have a plastic water shutoff valve for the PAIR hose. I turn that air feed off as per. I glued a broken piece of mirror to a wooden stick, then came up with another stick to be placed in an L angle. I safety wire those together so I can angle the one mirrored stick to stay in place and bend the other one to hold position once I find the main plate shaft screw.

The bike is on the rack and the engine is sitting right at shoulder height. I brace myself against the radiator, then position the screwdriver... HA!... this will take all night. I click the garage door opener, start the bike, see the sync is slightly off. I'm now struggling to line up the driver to the screw. The engine is getting warmer, I glance back at the sync and the one tube level is dropping.

I stop to watch again and wonder if it's worth it. As I'm thinking this out, watching the sync levels, the engine warming up more, the lines begin to line up as even as can be. Meanwhile, my ear is trained to the noise of that engine and I hear one silent valvetrain.

I kill the engine, hit the garage door button, send the tools home, connect the hoses, shut off the lights in the garage, wash up, come online and brag about the sync and engine noise.

Did you forget the plastic tube on the screw trick? Some guy just slid a tube over the center screw and used that for a guide.

No. I'm comfortable watching the tip of the driver locking into the grooves and turn from there. It didn't need to be sunk after it warmed up. I couldn't get it any closer than it was.

I just wish they used an allen head for that center screw. That would make it so much easier. The next time i remove throttle bodies, I plan to put a socket head cap screw in if that is possible.
