BT-016 tires

Has anyone broke in a set of BT-016's yet? Are they taking more heat cycles a little better than the old BT-14's?

I put a set on my Blackbird last year instead of the usual Powers.
They are great tyres, I had the impression that they wouldn't
square off as easily because of the centre compound, but after about 2000 miles they were looking
ordinary.
There wasn't even a lot of highway miles and I usually avoid
slabbing for that reason. I don't ride all that hard 'straight line' but I do like to corner fast,
so I can say that the edge grip was excellent.

Anyhow, that was a Blackbird and given that my OEM bt014 started melting the other day,
my guess is that you will DESTROY them on your ZX!

So it was back to the Michelins [if I had the time and money I would have bought another
set of Bridgerocks but P/P's are better all round, I reckon]...

A thread dedicated to tyre choice would be good.

Next set [what time is it?] I'm going to put a Road2 out back and a Power on the front,
popular with Hypersports in Aussie and easy to see why...
Let us know how the 016s go mate.

I was thinking of the road 2's also, there are some good reviews . I'll try these 0-16's out first ,see what they are like after a few heat cycles. I'm guessing I'll likely go through 2 rears this year so I'll have a chance to experiment. It almost sounds like all of our zx14's will shred pretty much everything ! :) I guess long as they stick in the curves and come out without spinning is all we could ask for.
I agree ,a section just about tires would be good, since it is what we All have in common for sure.

I'm running the road 2's right now, first set of them. Only a few hundred miles so far, but yesterday hit some good lean angles with them and so far I'm impressed. Now just have to see what kind of mileage I get out of them.

I put the Avon Storms on as replacements. The stock rear bt014 evaporated rather quickly I thought. I was only at 2500 (intentional) burn out free miles. Showing threads and losing grip. Not a good way to start the day!

Anyhow, I like the Avons and have gotten 3x the wear out of the rear.

The BT016's are a great tire farmer, they are not going to last as long as the road 2's, but they stick 10 times better. You end up sacrificing longevity for performance, I do believe that they are going to last at least twice as long as the 014's did though. The Bt016's stick as good as Pirelli Diablo Corsas and will last longer, but they are not going to last as long as the touring tires do.

After riding on the BT016's during some of these colder days of winter, I can't wait to see how well they do once summer get's in full swing and the asphalt really warms up. They stick great in the cold and wet, so you know they will be awesome when it is hot and dry...
