Hello everyone. Today my wife and I were on our way to her parents house to have Easter dinner. We saw a car rear end a guy on a motorcycle. He was struck pretty hard and went airborne over the median onto our side of the road. Of course I went to see if there was anything I could do, but there was already ten people surrounding him. he was awake, but not moving. I had never seen anything like that except on television. It got me thinking about how dangerous riding can be even if you are a safe, experienced rider. Be careful out there and gear up.

Easier said then done! I was driving in my gf's car and we were stopped at a light 2 weeks ago. Seen an SUV coming up on my pretty quick, but figured it was like most and would brake at the last minute. Well, looked in my mirror again and realized *cough* SHE wasn't stopping :) I floored it to get into the turn lane but it just happens so fast I couldn't really do anything. Luckily I was in a car that night instead of on my bike.

Yowsa! Hope you and gf are both uninjured. Exact same thing happened to me in my brand new car a few years back. Fortunately the guy did get on the brake quick enough to just give me a hard bump. I couldn't get out of the way. I also will admit that I rear ended a car on the expressway after getting on and having to swing across 3 lanes to hit the next exit. There was a line of cars at a dead stop there. I tromped on the brake and BUMP I went, ever so light against the trailer hitch of the car in front of me. Worse, it was a girl driving. Saw her eyes glance up into the rearview and just stare at me. All I could do was shrug my shoulders and look back at her with my eyes the size of footballs. LOL

That's why I always plan an escape route on the bike. I think I'd have a better chance at dodging a 4000 lb bullet than I would in my car. Hope I never have to test it.
