If you are using a matched set of tires, the chicken strip should always be larger on the front, so when you are using all of the rear, you still have a little margin on the front. Front wheel traction is a bit more important safety-wise. With the rear squatting (too soft) I was using more of the front tire to turn than normal (more lean angle) because the front fork angle is effectively larger with the rear in a less-than-level attitude. Cranking up the rear preload a bit brought it back to more-or-less level and let the front end steer as it was designed to. Seemed to tend to run wide a little less, also.

Well after a little outing this am, I'm down to 1/2 inch in the back and 1/4 up front... It's getting there...

Proportionately, that's about right-1/4" more on the front than the back.

Dragking... Here's the pic of the rear.. The front tire pic is more recent explaining the smoothness difference of the tires ...

I'm working a crapload of overtime this week and have family from out of state coming next week... Ugh!
I just want to go spend the day in the canyons and play with the suspension!

I think dragkings strips are the other way around...

Where are you getting that kind of heat buildup around your neck of the woods? That's some speed right there!

I may actually be able to get that kind of heat going in some of these canyons but not without sweating a ticket..
The rear tire is from my first class at Streets of Willow...
Too bad I didn't have any concept of suspension adjustments when I went last month!..

Yeah, it's the other way around! No bueno but I'm crash now ask question later kinda guy so if I get a chance on Friday, I'm going to lean a little more on friday and see what happens. So far no bad feeling from the front!
My rear is close to yours as far as the chicken strip goes...I'm right on top of the "2CT". I seem to accelerate a little late out of a turn and it looks like you're guilty of the same. The PR3 are softer on the side so we should be able to create more or the same kind of heat build up on the side no?

Dragking... I am not sure how tires work on the scientific side.. Ours are meant as sport touring so logically the softer compound would heat up pretty easy.. I didn't remember to feel my tires right after the canyons or the track for stickiness ..as I understand it.. Track tires don't have too much business on the street because they would never get to the best temp.. A street tire should.. The review (you sent me ?) I read said the PR3's warm up in no time so maybe that's why mine looked heated and like you guessed the very edges would look fried too on the track.

Bridgestone 003's are a good street tire and 'track' tire all in one.The do grip like koo koo...and offer a good ride quality as well...softer compounds...they will get very sticky.HOWEVER...they won't last near what a ST tire will.I used em twice last year on the street.I was very pleased. But they buned out at around 3k...so that's not so good if you're looking for serious mileage.Course up here...the roads are like a grinding wheel...chip sealed...it does make a big difference.

Sorry, I misread that. that's just the issue I was having with the rear set too soft and squatting in the twisties. The way the tires are profiled and the fact that the front is much narrower means if everything is balanced, the front strip will always be bigger than the rear.

I guess I had better double check the pre loads Stat..
Mine were dead even on the track .. Rear feels a tiny bit squishy but I'm not really that heavy.. Although I ride to work with backpack full of crap, jacket , spine, gloves and boots minimum.. That may be more weight than I'm realizing when .. I guess I'm close to 190 or so all geared up...
I just want to get a comfortable feel of what the "safer" side of conservative really is... It was a little disturbing how hard I was turning and then the instructor tells me my pegs will rub well before the tires give out

Dang I need to go to another class..!

When you turn hard, the suspension squats and if one end is softer than the other, it's gonna squat more. I think even or a little softer in front would be ideal. That way, if you're a little hot, a little front brake will steepen the fork angle and help it turn quicker.

Well, I still haven't find out. Got caught in a cold rain for 4 hours today. The PR3 allowed some fun but I had to keep the leaning to a minimum. I'm leaving my suspension just the way they are. Turn out the only reason I was complaining was because I didn't get a chance to push it but when pads, rotors and oils are out everything gels!
