smashed my baby!
10/27/09 11:02 PM

So this idiot pulls out on me while i'm doing bout 50 in a curve! Forced to swerve out into oncoming traffic, i swerved back in to miss a van. Lil did I know, there was 2 trucks stopping. I locked down only to start skidding. I let off enough to miss truck 1, going off into shoulder(thinking I'm safe) truck 2 turns without a signal into my path. I smash right into bed of pickup. just before inpact, I came off seat enough so my left leg wasn't crushed. I ended up limping bike home(3 miles away).

That's why I carry full coverage. Just bumps and bruises, no real damage to me. but my baby has $6100 in damage.
thank god for wearing gear!

In short, I am glad to know you are safe and well. That's the most important.

The bike story, it worries me, I am carrying basic liability this year only...I am starting to think, that might not be such a good idea, because when it rains, it pours...

Take care bro!

He gets all snarly when you try and take his picture.
Where do you get such cool wolf pics?

Before your criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do criticize them, you're a mile away and have their shoes.

Right.

I am also rethinking having just liability coverage.

Just a few hours ago, I was rolling my bike back out of the way away from the gas pumps while I went to take a leak, and was not looking behind me, and rolled the bike into a steel pole.

Now not only do I need the right tail section repainted from my foot boogering it up (and the painter I had redo it, which made it worse), now I also need a new tail lamp, the little triagular plastic piece direction above it, the left side tail section, and another tail emblem to go on it.

That little tap against the pole cost me about $375, in addition to the close to $200 the original fiasco cost me.
But thankfully it was no worse than that. That is the only way you can look at it. Things happen.

But glad the original poster was OK. That's the main thing.

I can't imagine how hard it'd be to self finance the parts to fix an all out wreck.

Alag8ter,
AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - translation - cool thanks for posting!

ZX MAN I am getting cold feet about basic liability too. Mind you my deductable is 1000, so had I backed into something like you, I'd still be out of pocket. I've gotten to that weird place, at my age where scratches and dents don't really bother me any more. I just patch it up and keep going. My ZX is flawless, but I made an agreement with myself not to be bothered by the small stuff and just ride the shiz out of her. Let's see how well that theory holds up against a mishap.

I feel for you on the back up tap, I hate when I put damage on the bike from something that could have been easily avoided.

Cheers boyz...

More power to ya, Wolfman on that great attitude.

I wish I would not sweat the small stuff, but I just can't. Not on this bike, with how good it looks, runs, rides, etc.

I'll do my best (both physically and financially LOL) to keep it pristine............at least as long as I can.

But when you ride a bike, which is what its for, you are gonna expect blemishes and scuffs here and there. The bike is meant to be ridden, not sitting in a garage and looked at.

But I just can't let even an minor thing go without fixing it. Not yet, anyway.

Dude, my boy ZXman,
I completely understand. I am all about pride of ownership to brotha. Right now the attitude is a theory, and hopefully it will be a mindset. I looked at some bikes I've had, and realized I spend more time, shining them, cleaning, maintaining them than actually riding them. The ZX shall be ridden, and I will try to keep her gleaming, but not at the expense of enjoying the bike. Same goes with the dings.

Keep the shiny side up my boy...
W
