Pilot power 2 CT
07/19/09 11:40 PM

Hello

Has anyone used the new Pilot Power 2CT tyres?

I had Pilot Road 2CT's on my FJR and they were great.

I have on my R1 and it is the best handling tire I have used yet. Supper sticky when leaned over and lasts about 6k miles.

I have the 2CTs on my R6 and love those bastards, they stick VERY well. Did a full track day on them and never had a problem.

They won't last as long as a P Road so if you do more straight line stuff I'd go with the Roads...I run the pilot roads on my 14 and like them a lot.

I have those tires on my bike and they have just about 7000KM on them. I have just reached the middle wear bars so there is still some rideing left in em. The best tire I have used on the ZX14 so far.

CompAcc has a Michelin PP2ct adn PP sale right now! On for 2 or 3 more days only I think. If you get the regular Pilot Powers, note that adding the front and rear separately is cheaper than the "package deal".

I have a set waiting in the garage, gonna pop 'em on this weekend.

Pilot Powers 2ct is the best street rubber out there IMHO

Spooned mine on today, no ride report yet. I went with a PP on the front, and PP2ct on the rear. I'm hoping the harder compound on the center of the rear will keep it from evaporating long enough to reasonably toast the front, and I can replace them both together.

On my Bandit hot rod, I run a PP front with a Pilot Sport HPX rear, the only Michelin available in a 200 afaik. I really like the combo for that bike, but the HPX is a very round profile, I figured the PP2 with its pointier profile would quicken up the handling on the ZX.

I've got the 2CTs on now. Going back to the BT016, though. To each their own.

I use the Pilot Road 2CT they last about 6000 miles and have great wet weather traction. And turn

Much better than the stock Bridgestones.

Pilot Power 2CT are even better for the turns but the do not last long. Too soft for long trips.

For those of you with the PP 2CT's - what pressures do you run?

I've been trying the diff sport-touring rubbers...I'm kinda getting away from the strictly sport stuff, it just doesn't last long enough for me

Pilot Road 2CT 6000 miles is not bad on a ZX-14.....no Drag Racing was done to get thd many mles.
40 PSI front and rear checked cold tire.

Corsa 111 has been my best tire to date . I will order a set of these 2CT. Has anyone switched from Corsa 3's to 2CT's. Just wondering what to expect ? Thanks Again.

I had the Corsas on my 750 and they are probably the very best
compromise b/n a street and a track tire. Went with a full slick though
on my last track visit.
I did a few laps on a zx10 with Corsas that were visually very worn
and they still gripped well.

I don't think that the PP 2CT will last longer on the 14 though.
I've pushed my bike hard and my rear with 1.2K miles shows a lot of wear.
It probably has another 1K miles in it at best.
My riding doesn't include long trips or everyday commuting of any kind.
Just some spirited sprints in the twisties on the weekends and these are
just great for that.

Point of interest: With the Corsa 3 both the front and rear tires needed no balance weights(fluke maybe but stealer told me not uncommon for this tire, impressive). This is not the case with the BT 16 Or the BT 14. How close are the Michelyns ? Not that it makes a diffrence but just wondering.?

I'd be more worried if they don't rebalance with the new rubber on.
If they don't spin them to check- they are simply not doing their job.
It usually needs very minor adjustment but since different brand tires
have different weights it will always be slightly off.

they told me the same thing on the shinko rear i had put on my 9 still not to sure bout that but it was not spin balanced just static. got Avon storms on the way for the 14 and have already received my 2 2oz bags of dyno-beads(hate the look of weights on your wheels) has anyone used the dyno-beads and if so howd they work out? the reviews on thier site were good but then again dont think theyd post bad reviews lol heres what the company claims :

Dyna Beads offers Tire Balancing Solutions

Wheel weights have been around for many years, but are no longer the only solution for trucks, commercial vehicles, trailers, aircraft and motorcycles. We want you to get the highest possible tire mileage by using our products.

The way we do this is by offering a Dynamic Balancing Solution, a high-density ceramic bead that, when easily installed, continuously balances your tires as you drive. The amount of material will distribute itself in weight and position dependent on the balance requirements of the individual tire.

The result is a smooth, vibration-free ride, derived from our balancing media that is always repositioning itself as the tire wears. If you own a pickup truck, commercial truck, motorhome, RV, tractor trailer, motorcycle, or similar vehicle, and want to get rid of those wheel vibration and tire cupping problems, then you need to move up to Dyna BeadsĀ®!

sounds all good to me after i get the tires and mounted on bike ill post a review

ive also been reading about putting Nitrogen in your tires instead of air has anyone done this and is it worth the $5-$10 more per tire to do this?

Of all the tires I have ever put on, only the last front Michelin Pilot Road (not 2) on my 11 that is still on did not need any weights.

I wouldn't waste the money using Nitrogen in the tires on a street bike.

I have the Corsa 3's on the bike now. 3041 miles on them and there is no way the rear will last another 3k. I'm thinking another 1k before a new rear is needed. No drag racing or burnouts although wheelies are my weakness. When I replace the set I'm gonna go with the PP 2CT's. I had then on my zrx and they were great.

Had pilot powers on mine and bridgestone 016 and 002 the best to date is shinko super soft got 13000 kms out of front and 6000km on rear compared to 6000km on pilot and as well 3000-4000km on 016 and they are sticky as front holds wet and dry better than the bridgestone 002 oh and over here in Brisbane half the price of the others. and the balance is less weights than the others as you say strange but hey works for me on track days as well.
