BALANCING BEADS
10/08/10 3:43 AM

Hi guys,
A new thing that has hit South Africa is "wheel balancing beads". Instead of using balancing weights on your rims, they insert these beads into the tyre. I'm sure that it has been used in the USA before us so just wanted to know if any of you have used it & what your experience has been like ???

Great, will try them for sure. Wonder what it does to the inside of the tyre & wall though ? Perhaps causes wear that one cannot see ??? Not so nice to have a blow out at 200km/h !!!!!

I had them, but they just were to much of a pain in the ass to put back in after tire replacement.. The beads did turn black but no real tire wear on the inside that I could see.

Oh ya, when you check you tire pressure take the time and listen to see if air is still leaking out the valve stem. I had a bead get stuck and when I noticed it the tire was flat. So always check with the stem up.

ive had them in my tires now for over 3000 mi no problems as far as romans concerns about the valve stem leakage you need to spend the couple bucks and have the screened valve stems put in the wheels. they sell them on the dynabead web site

Yup, I skipped that step lol. I must ask, if they are screened how did you get the beads in ? Side of tire ?

romans mine was put in at tire change but whether the valves are screened or not you still have to pull the valve out of the stem to put the beads in

Yup that's how I put mine in. Well, gas line hose, small tie wrap and A engraver. Still it took almost 45 min for booth wheels. Pain to do.
