Hi everyone,
I'm planning to buy something that lets me easily access my phone's screen while riding (e.g., maps, messages). So far, I'm considering two options: a phone holder that mounts to the handlebars, or a tank bag with a transparent window on top like this one "Viking Magnetic Motorcycle Tank Bag".

I'd love your input on which would be a better choice for me. Also, I'm a bit concerned about whether a handlebar mount might cause any issues at high speeds.

Any advice or experience you have would be greatly appreciated!

No accessories on the bars, period. Unless you mount it at the center of the steering, which you can't so the tank bag is safer.

I guess accessing phone during stops would be ok. But it's tricky while moving. With the clear tank bag, it can get pretty hot in there where the phone is

I don't know what's so bad about accessories mounted to the bars. There are mounts available that bolt to the master cylinder mounts. I made my own for my gauges and they worked great. As long as they're adjustable so you have no clearance problems, they will work. A TechMount steering stem mount should work fine as long as you have some way of affixing your phone to the plate. I used a TechMount on my Gen1 and I loved it. Just make sure you don't press it in past the third o-ring or trust me, you won't be able to pull it back out especially if you leave it in overnight. I had to pound mine out with a wooden dowel from below when I removed my front wheel.

Get the clear tank bag if you must but then you can't use your touchscreen and to be perfectly honest, that sounds like something that should be on a kid's banna bike from the 70s, not a ZX-14.

TechMount makes both a steering stem mount and a MC mount that goes on the bar. If you have no adapter with screw holes to match up to the mounting plate, use regular velcro. I would tether the phone for backup but I never had the light duty velcro let go on my Dyno Jet LCD-200. The glue that affixes the velcro lets loose from the heat eventually but never the velcro.

Come to think of it, they make spring loaded, four pronged phone grabbers for the mounts available. Problem solved, Tech-Mount and phone grabber.

After careful consideration, I've decided to purchase the Viking Magnetic Motorcycle Tank Bag. Given my limited budget, I'm concerned about the quality of the phone mount and wish to avoid risking damage to my phone. Additionally, I find the tank bag to be more practical, as it allows me to conveniently accommodate my power bank.
