Proper way to launch zx14
09/04/09 11:18 AM

Hey guys,

I bought the 14 because my friend got a busa and was talking shit. After my crash, I will not be got to track this year. So early next year I am going to try to beat him down track. Going to get powercomander, exsaust, lowered, and 6inch extention.

Just wondering what the proper way to lauch the bike is. Mine is a 07, flies out right now. Probably will get air shifter, and strap front also. Any more mods that will help, I am 260 before leathers.

Thanks much

Don't forget gearing. You are a big guy and you'll need something along the lines of a 16/44 combo with the set up that you are mentioning.

08' Atomic Silver , -1 , flies pulled, BMC filter, Full SS Brocks pipe, PCIII, 55w HID's Hi/low , fender eliminator, strap, and a few other little things.

Did you just call me fat?....lol

No, I know I am bigger, and was actually trying to figure out the right gear combo to run. I thought the 16 was a common front, but is 44 just becaust of weight?

Thanks for feeback.

Brock's alienhead or smeg, pc3, air shifter (mps sells a kit with an onboard compressor and autoshift, pretty sweet deal and autoshift is SICK), 6" stretch and strapped front end. Weighing in at 260 is going to hurt you the most. In your case, i'd suggest running a 16/46. I run a 16/45 and i'm 100lbs lighter (but the bike 60's in the 1.39s). Buy a shinko ultra soft and run it at 18 psi. Run the rpms up to about 6000 and let the clutch go.

With your weight your goal should be 9.60-9.70s with the setup i just mentioned. Good luck and let us know how you do

Thanks slow, I am looking into all that you have suggested. Is there a power difference between the SMEG and the Alien Head????

So after last years crash into a fire hydrent, I never ran it down the strip. I have just ordered everything and bike will be stretched this week. I only went to a 16/43 gears for now, as not quite sure how bad front wheel will lift off the ground if i went to full 16/45. I think i need to get a custom map for my PCV as the one in the bike seems to run too rich. Brocks exsaust on and love it, thanks slow for advice. I hope to take it to track next month or so, not quite warm enough yet. First time draging a bike, hoping for best. If i crack 10.0 seconds though I will have to save up for a full leather suit.

lol at this post....Really you got a zx14 just so your shit talking busa owner like all of them are saying he will leave you in the dust..Who cares! tell him to put his title or some cash up for grabs then make it worth it. Otherwise enjoy your zx14 and try not to give it to much HP when it sounds like you do not know how to handle what it comes with stock. just my opinion. Ride safe...
