New guy from Iowa
04/05/09 10:13 AM

Hello Everyone I am obviously new here but I have had my 07 black 14 since may of 07 I am currently getting it wrapped in a very cool vinyl graphic. I came here cause I am finally gonna need some advice on aftermarket parts and maybe ill get to know some new people. I live in Central Iowa so we dont get to ride year round unless we travel or are Brave. My next project is to get rid of the two big cannons that are the exhaust and was thinking of putting The M4 slipon system on it, anyone have any feedback before i buy? also I will get some pics of my bike as soon as its done. Anyways Im glad to be here and hope everyone has a safe and fun year of riding.

M4 Retro drags was the first exhaust that I wanted to have. They were very cheap 12 months ago and research confirmed a lot of what I hoped to hear. I do not recall the exact weight, but it was ridiculously light. Might have been 6 lbs for both slipons. The sound is amazing if you are into loud, about as loud as street meg. The looks - well, I think they are better looking than anything else available and you get to keep the dual look.

I do not know what kind of performance gains you will get with your G1. I do not know if a map is available. You are certain to loose a little bottom end with just about any aftermarket pipe(s). A lot of G1 ownwers liked a few different brands of slipon canisters to retain as much bottom end as possible. I communicated with a few people who got the retro drags and all liked them. One guy claimed he felt a midrange/topend inmprovement and maybe a small torque loss at low rpm.

Performance is #1 for me. I've decided to go with a full system Alien Head because that is going to give the max hp/weight loss/loud sound. Just doesn't look as good and costs twice as much.

Welcome to the forum. I have the M4 retro drag pipes and love them. They totally change the sound of the bike certainly makes it known to all your not on a little 600. Very throaty and loud, but I have never been hassled by the cops. The hardleys are more of their concern for noise issues.

One thing I think you will like if you go with them, is the fact that you can remove the baffle in about 30 seconds if you want to. I like to uncork my bike on ocassion. Best of luck!
