Sad story with a happy ending
10/18/12 5:07 PM

Sometimes horrible things can lead to glorious endings. Back on March 2011, I was riding home from work on the I-15 when my ZX-11 went dead. I coasted to the side of the freeway where my bike promptly caught on fire and went up like a roman candle. Had the tow driver bring it home. Didn't have insurance on it cause it was too old ( a '93). Got some buck from the recycle place but I didn't have enough to buy a new bike. I saved every penny I could and bought Mighty Blue last May. Happy ending after all.http://www.zx14ninjaforum.com/userfiles/poppabear/IMG_4040.JPGhttp://www.zx14ninjaforum.com/userfiles/poppabear/IMG_4040.JPGhttp://www.zx14ninjaforum.com/userfiles/poppabear/IMG_4040.JPG

Sucks man, but having a ZX14 is a great way to ease the pain.

Not too long ago driving home on the highway came upon a Honda Blackbird on fire. Stopped to offer any help, damn thing burned to the ground, nothing but engine/pipe, rear subframe, forks/rotors, tire cords, and puddles of melted alloy left. Huge bummer, stood there with the owner watching it.

Pics of it on nestreetriders.com, http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/general-bike-related/65799-bike-fire-yest-128n.html

Wow, terrible. It must really suck to be there and not be able to stop the fire.

Hey Wolfman, I had my bike to a local speed shop for some tuning just a week before. I had been going to this place for years and never had any trouble with them. I had smelled some gas in the garage, but thought it was my wife's dirt bike. Apparently they didn't properly attach a fuel line. No way to prove it though. I can't think of anything else that would make a bike catch fire. I'm not sure what was worse; watching it burn or waiting for a year, saving every penny so I could to buy Mighty Blue! Enjoy your bike. We really are riding the most amazing motorcycle ever.
