Aug 25 Ride British Columbia
08/27/12 2:45 AM

Went for a little ride on Saturday - 1,063 km (660 miles). Left fresh and energetic at 7:30am....... got home dead dog tired at 2:30am.

Started in the Fraser Valley and went through Hope, Boston Bar, Fraser Canyon, Lytton, Ashcroft, Logan Lake, Kamloops, Chase, Sorrento, Salmon Arm, Enderby, Armstrong, Vernon, Sicamose, Kelowna, Merritt. We found a newly opened motorcycle museum in Sorrento that is worth a visit. Link to Dreamcycle. Morning coffee was in Lytton at the only cafe. Had a decent steak sandwich in Logan Lake for lunch at the Black Bull Pub. Afternoon Coffee at Spockets Cafe (part of the museum). Dinner was in Kelowna at the Twisted Tomato. Traffic was light throughout the ride. For me the best part of the ride was the Fraser Canyon. It is always a treat offering a great visual experience and enough twisties to keep you interested. You pass through several tunnels, past Hells Gate, and follow the Fraser River. Road quality is good. BC's Central interior region is interesting when near the many lakes you pass, but otherwise tends to be fairly straight and flat.
We packed to allow the ride to be an over night ride but somehow we found ourselves too close to justify a hotel stay. The last leg from Kelowna took us over two passes and treated us with temperatures around 5 deg C. (not a big fan of night riding, nothing to see, generally just a case of hunkering down in the saddle and getting it done)

The video shows a glimpse of the copper mine between Ashcroft & Logan Lake and part of the Fraser Canyon.
