Dyno in 10th of a point
02/09/09 3:02 PM

http://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/zx14.htm While I contemplate my latest fuel runs with and without the backup maps, I came across Ivan's place looking to buy a PCIII to help those that seem to chase maps because the downloads do not work well.

Well, as I look a Ivan's data (see url above), I can see why I was never impressed with the hack being the gas mileage was about the same. I look at the torque value changes down the list. Most are sporting a small boost in torque. Can I feel that bump? Feel a tenth of a difference? I feel a ring tone. I feel a digital ring is about it.

Can you feel that 10th of a spike? Add 4 more hacks and does it add to the same 10th? Call out the Linears with a 10th of a spike? Did you see how terrible that one exhaust is farther down the list? It has zip for lower end and look at the line against the smoother stock bottom end. It looks like the dyno is following a ball in a paint can is tag the pipe out the window.

I have a friend with a new dyno. I do not want to take advantage, being he has one and all. I just have to wait for a guy that comes to the bike shows with a mobile dyno. I sort of drilled him on how clean his sniffer was and did he air-set his dyno unit? He did say he had it squared away; wanted to shake my hand saying he like to hear someone talk that walk. So, say we wait till April for a stock and hacked run each way, (or find you is take a roll-on, being curious about how well tuned both bikes are). I have to wonder if the data I am reading is valid. You have to figure if the hack retards, how come you got a spike in torque? I would think retard is the HP'robber setting the flame front to fire way late and shorten the pressure, a full advance would have boosted.

So, as I continue to dispute the advance/retard; as I have the same mileage either way; I have the same sort of fell; which I was glad I had the least amounts of hacks; flying with that MBz the other week.
When I was running with the heavy hack set, I sure whoop'd a scream thru my helmet how trippy that throttle was, as opposed to the stock setting. No retard feels like that = LOL!
