Finally!
01/23/10 9:25 AM

Hey Everyone,

The time has finally come, in 7 days my ZZR14 (Europe Version) will be in my Garage.

Paid 8,900 Euro's for a 2006 model with like 7000 miles on the counter.. Still sounds a bit expensive if you're gonna compare it with American models on Ebay for example, or Germany. But i just fell in love and told him i want the Bike. harr harr!

The color is Antricite (Not sure if i say it right) - It's dark Grey, the same as the ZX14 on my Avatar Picture.

Everything seems stock, everything is ok - First thing to do: Exhausts! Those things.... meh, can be way cooler with some nice Yoshi's for example.

By the way.

I think this is a stupid question - But just making sure:

If i'd buy a 2006 ZX14 Slipon for my ZZR14 '06 it will fit right ....?
Would be nasty if there was something different down there............

Nawww, should be the same.

...... Right? lol

Congrats on the new 14 Matsuke, if its your first you're going to love it....extremely fast, smooth, comfy, sweet handling road bike. You'll prolly get the urge to pull the flies down the road though, most of us first gen owners do lol. I plan on keeping my 14 for a long, long time

That actually is a good question on the exhaust diameter. Euro specs could be different. I doubt that would be the case but that is only a guess. If you remove the stock cans, you will be able to measure the inside diameter of the midpipes where they slide over the outlets on the collector. If you can speak to a customer service person from the place you order the pipe, they could make sure the slipons you order have the same diameter sleave.

You could just bolt the stock cans back on until your slpons arrive. It as easy as connecting 4 bolts. One each hanger by the passenger footpegs and one to clamp each midpipe to the collector. There may be some kind of thing at the collector like a doughnut shaped gasket on the G1 if I recall.

You'll forget all about the price when you hit 9000 in 4 lol but you will want pipes pipes pipes lol its a good bike stock but with just pipes it becomes a great bike then pc and flies and its a badass bike oh yea if you happen to hit 10,000 in any of the first three gears you will need more cash for some new fruit-of-the-looms lol

Yeah my next thing is gonna be Pipes + PC. The ones that are on now, the stocks just dont look to cool eighter....

Thinking about Akra's or Yoshi's.

By the way. When i put other slipons on, WITHOUT finetuning (PC) does it damage the bike, or does it just perform less? Just so i know if i should get the PC and slipons at the same time and drive it to a guy with dyno that can program it.

Thx

the simple anwser is no however you will have that popping we have all talked about lol the first time you hear it it will scare the boo boo out of ya and you will either like the sound or not but you won't get use to it lol
POP POP POP lol I think its cool even with a tune it will be there unless you plug the pair system You won't have to worry about putting on slip-ons but a full pipe is a different story (PC).After the pipe change you will find it starts differently but you'll probly be happy with just the slip-on for a while you'll feel the power difference sound look save up your money and if you decied later to get a pc for more power, but if you just want more juice then try a gear change first it is a cheep mod and you get instant results and don't need a dyno. Now when all the peach fuzz has grown in to full-on pubic hair you'll want to pull the flies PC gear change

+1

I wouldn't shy away from a good deal on used pipes. A used PC should be a very safe buy too. I don't think PCs ware out ever.

Slip-ins shouldnt change much in the way the bike runs as in no leaner ,no richer as they are after everything in the exchausts and the bike wont adjust very much if any for the little better breathing out. . You will loose a few pounds in weight.
As for flys out most cant tell the difference in the 08 and newer bikes as they (kaw) changed how they work and when so taking them out early pretty much only voids your warrenty an provides little to no performance gain

Biggest advice is to read ,read and read as many will spew out that you got to do this and got to do that to gain 1 maybe 2 HP. but what do you loose to get that little bit that you most likely wont even notice .
To gain 10% or more would make a difference but to gain 1% and lose some durabilty of the bike is not worth it as Im not racing on a track and dont have the money they do for replacement bikes.

Make any changes you want just make informed ones and from more than one source

2009 ZX14 Also gone and will be replaced someday
some of the best of both worlds

Yeah. I heard for example the FULL system gives a .... 5-10pk advantage if tuned totally right. and the Slipons just give less than 5 pk - Though, im not worried about the PK's gain. Since just as you, i won't be taking the bike to the track. I want it to be fast, but it already is. harr harr.

Slipons give a better sound, and look - So that's what im after ... Tho, second handed Yoshi's or Akra's are like 500-600 bucks again. So thats a pain in the ass!!! lol

So the dealer called me......

Robert, Saturday the bike will be at ur front door.. But theres one thing - ur FRONT tire doesnt seem in best condition, i think u can ride like 1500 miles before it needs to be changed.

Me: Sooo, thats gonna cost me if i'd wanted u to change it?

Him: Well, yes

Me: ...................................................... nm the front tire

Gives me less confidence in the whole thing/dealer tho. Wouldn't a proper dealer switch the tires for FREE?..

no. That's why we call them stealers. lol

I'd have a look at it if you can. If the back tire is worn enough, you might just want to wait and have both back and front done after 1000 miles or so. If the front is not worn to the markers, i would run it. You'll be taking it easy the first 1000 miles anyway. If the back tire is new or almost new, it would be good time to change the front right now so they match.

That could be the first tire ever put on that bike so the rubber might be a bit hard after 3 years. No real hard cornering if you keep it until it's used up.

lol, Stealers... I agree with ya :P

Thanks for the tire tips - Ill keep away from the aggressive cornering.

Monster14, you're the second guy telling me that, can you tell me why? The other guy told me:

If you're between Yoshi and Akra's, go for Akra's since the torque gain is higher.

But, since im going with slipons, and not with a full system - Does it really matter that much
since the gain isnt too big anyways.

Also, the reason im leaning towards Yoshimura's, is because those slipons are all over Ebay, and
theres a nice price there too. The Akra's i see way less on there, and there seem more full-systems
than Slipons. And the price seems higher!!!!

Thanks!

Well Mat, alot of guys love Yosh but I do not. If you don't care about power then who cares just get em if its a better deal, but you will look like ever gixxer in town. I know its only a slip on but I want every bit of power I can get, when I put slip ons on my 02 gixxer 1k I did alot of research and seen several slip on dyno comparos, yosh was always bottom of the list on power, in fact I seen one where they got more hp from changing the oil than they did on the yosh.

I know some guys on here run them and like them, maybe they got better since 02......so whatever floats your boat.

If it was me, there are just to many better choices to choose from.

Pfft, Fully depends - Those yoshi's are like 300-500 Dollars, thats fine with me - But im not into spending 300 more dollars just for a power increase of 5 pk's. Im jumping from a 100pk bike to a 200pk bike, so i don't think ill be needing to much more PK's than 200 for quite a bit.

You could spend 300 more right now and get more hp across the powerband. 15 more on top hp. Full system. It would have been a big job getting it on before I had any experience doing any work on the bike.

I think slipons are a good choice for now but you might want to switch later. Could always sell the slipons.
